actually yeah. something came up that made me think of you
it was english lit and it was about race in shakespeare's work. and the lecturer mentioned that Queen Elizabeth I may have had some affairs with visitors from Morocco. It tied in with Shakespeare because at that time it was actually really amusing/fascinating for brits to black themselves up. Liz I apparently did this for a few viewings of Shakespeare plays when the Moroccan visitors were present. Apparently it was believed she was having relations with them due to the fact she was so influenced by their skin colour- donning it herself- and also an anonymous pamphlet was published accusing her of this around the time.
Whether it's true or not, I have no idea as I know about her mainly through a mix of Horrible Histories and Blackadder, but it was interesting nonetheless.
