ps- i was thinking about the ancient rome arc, we could have caligula reacting to the insults aelius gave him and his general situation by him feeling all sulky so almost suspiciously spending a lot of time with his wife whereas he never showed much interest in her before. but he falls back on her because she is one of the very few people that love him unconditionally and that'll his ego a favour.

but at the same time we can have him being a bit mean to her.
because in the series he basically married her because he wanted an older woman to love him and dote on him a bit because he's essentially a big kid who needs that, and caesonia fulfilled that by basically being aware of all the terrible things he did, but somehow still loving him anyway (even though she herself was a purehearted person). so it could be a sort of one-sided affection thing, because caligula wants all this love unconditionally but isn't prepared to give her much.
