But it was meant to be a subversion of simply beating the villain, like in the trailers it had Maui about to fight Tafiti and while it did that, it didn't end in such battles like Sleeping Beauty, Lion King, or Wreck It Ralph where the hero wins and villain dies/gets defeated.

And sorry if I'm being repetitive but it also adds to the message of who you are inside, as Tafiti was never a volcanic villain and not supposed to be.

I also like I am Moana and the ending song This Isn't Who you Are. Man so much passion in the singing. I've only seen the movie once and watched clips but it's still a personal fave.

Hands down, it's beautiful and creative. Who can ever think of the ocean being a character and even having a ratio as one also? The songs are actually good, where my favourites are You're Welcome as a great way of telling Maui's own story and good deeds, yet acts like an arrogant but somewhat likeable man-child.

And there's also Shiny, one of my favourite Disney villain songs. The whole song is just... so... disturbingly interesting. I mean, once you get past Tamatoa realising Maui is powerless, it gets so jarring where he sings about Maui's misfortune and his back story, hurting him physically and even mentally, tossing him around like a salad.

But one reason why I like it is because it's meant to be an obstacle of the long running message of you can define who you are.
