Erebus: I specifically decided not to make it D&D or Skubhammer 40K, simply because that's my usual fare. But true, there was very little that /tg/ talks about on any regular basis (not that that is the definition of a traditional game, mind you. I'm looking at YOU, fucking Dwarf Fortress and Stone Soup.)

I... don't think I understood anything you said in your second sentence.

I still haven't made up my mind but, anyway, I tend to bring bad luck to the people I vote for. I mean, I voted for Klauth last time and he ended up in fifth place (which really made me go WTF ?!!!). And let's not even speak of the elections in my cheese-loving country.

This was a tough choice for me. I liked a lot of the entries. Some had great talent, others had good humor, others had great ideas period. I liked the entries by of Just Fred, Captain Catnip, Leander, februaryleaf, and many others to boot, but for me it came down to the quality of the work as well as the theme and idea.
CM_Zero's picture was just beautiful and very well composed. It even had a backstory to explain. And it was cute and funny to. Not to mention sexy. So, for me, those are all winning situations.

I had to cast mine for Rak's Cluedo. I'd love to play a version like that.

Erebus:

I meant that almost none of the entries were the "typical" traditional games that you see here and on /tg/ - RPGs and tabletop wargames. We had a variety of strategic games (Chess) and board games instead, which is very refreshing and cool.

The last part of that was making a jab at how /tg/ claims to be a board for traditional games, yet most of the conversations are about crappy computer games that somehow qualify simply because they are played sort-of in D&D style (wander through caverns killing monsters/getting killed) or have "graphics that are way too bad/nonexistant to really qualify as a computer game". Specifically Stone Soup and Dwarf Fortress. That stuff flourishes, yet if I allegedly post 40K spanking art? I'm the one banned >:(

Anyway, time to put thought into the upcoming one. And to perhaps do some other stuff in the meantime.

I don't really think most people would call RPGs and tabletop wargames "traditional" games. When I hear that I think of Chess and Cards first and foremost. I'd even add dice games to that. Some other board games like monopoly and whatever else you remember from playing with the family as a kid ^^ might count too.

Pen and Paper RPG and tabletop wargames seem to be more niche than anything else to me.
But maybe thats just me, being a country bumpkin ^^

Btw: Should I be offended when Captain Catnip says people only seem vote for those who can draw well, but didn't match the contest theme? I don't think I missed the topic at all, but if I did someone needs to explain it to me again.

Considering that your submission seems to fit the contest perfectly, I don't think you need to worry.

And yes, traditional games are definitely not RPGs or wargames. Those are niche. try to find them among the other games in a regular toystore. They'll mostly be hidden somewhat in the back. ^^

You got banned from /TG/ ?
Are you sure it wasn't the content of the art, rather than the topic that got you kicked~?

PS: People might be a little put-out by the next competition. The focus is on OBSCURE computer games. Things like... erm... The Secret of Monkey Island, the Arcadians, Syberia, Densha-de-go!, Gothika, Skies of Arcadia, and other secret GEMS which no-one but you know and has played and you've tried telling your friends and they don't believe you how great these never-heard-of games are. Being OLD is not the same as obscure.

If I see any HALO pictures, they're not admissable, as our other rather... plain ones. Also, for example, Pheonix Wright, also not obscure.
You can draw them, you can post them and get comments... they just won't be entered into the voting (Not that the voting means anything either). I'll also allow more than one entry per person.

It's an interesting subject but I find it pretty imprecise. Syberia and Monkey Island aren't obscure games from my point of view. Maybe you should give more examples of what games you think are too well-known.
