"Fine, I'll just steal some later." the boy said, still eating like a pig. "Benefactory...? You mean helping people? Why should I do that? What have people ever done for me?"

He reached over and started to peel a piece of fruit, putting his feet up on the table. "All my life people have been calling me half-breed and whore's son. I'll bet you don't know how easy you have it, being full human. You've never been spat on because of who your father was, or beaten because of the shape of your ears. And you want me to help all of them?"

He threw the peel behind him, biting into the fruit and letting the juice run down his face. "I'd rather see them ground into the dirt."

"And I suppose this is the gratitude I receive for paying the fee for your freedom?" he asked, folding his arms as he sat back in the chair. "I hope you realize that the coin I spent on your is not sufficient enough to keep you free, and I’d be more than happy to see you to the pimps and brothel owners who wanted you so bad," he threatened. "Benefactory also means helping yourself, to give yourself a better life and the ability to make something and earn yourself a proper place on this land instead of in the gutter as a mangy dirty thief."

Rahal stood up from the table cleared the items off it. He would deal with cleaning up later. He was getting sick and tired of the half-elf already, thinking if he had made a mistake for trying to take the young man under his wing. But he knew how to deal with Auruer in a way that he wouldn't not regret his actions. This young man would better himself. But he needed a firm hand to guide him in the right direction.

"Is your bottom not sore enough to send a clear message to your head?" he asked as he stepped into the bathroom, picking up the hairbrush from the washroom cabinet and bringing it back into the main room and placed it square-center on the table top in front of Aureur to see.

The boy scowled when his new master said he would be happy to sell him into prostitution. So this man really was no different then the others then? He immediately became defensive and on edge, even more so when he was referred to as a mangy dirty thief.

"Well excuse me for not being born a rich, full-blooded human!" He retorted. "I didn't choose to be poor or a half-breed you know. And don't you judge me for stealing, I'll bet you've never been hungry. And I mean real hunger, not what you feel when you skip lunch. I mean when you haven't eaten for five days or more."

He scowled at the brush as it was set in front of him. "The only message I got was that you spank hard. Other then that I don't know anything about you. Oh yeah, except that you expect me to help people who hate me, and just threatened to sell me to the brothels."

gutterpupper July 24th, 2013 10:29 PM

Once again Rahal let out a heavy sigh. He left the brush on the table as a stern reminder of what would happen as he sat down at the table. "You really are a difficult child." He rubbed his fingers into his closed, trying to take the strain and tiredness off them. "I'm sorry. I don't understand what you've been through. I've never had to defend for myself in the way you have. But that doesn't mean that stealing is right," he explained. "I'm sure in some way you understand this. But I haven't paid for you out of that life for no reason. Considering it was my pocket you tried to pick," he admitted. He remember the comotion quite clearly from the hussle in the market place, the cry of warning from a market trader who spotted Aureur attempting his theft, the rush of guards and people trying catch him before the explosion of magic from the fingertips of the boy.

"I'm trying to give you a chance to make something of yourself. I can promise you the places I have visited, your kind is not always spat on or treated unfavorably. They walk in the crowds as much as any human or elf. But once again I remind you, I didn't have to stand in that crowd and bid on you. Hence my discomforting words earlier. You are right, I will discipline you. It will be strict and firm and it will not be comfortable for you, but neither shall it be to me."

Reasoning with the young boy was difficult; he seemed very stubborn and set in his ways. He seemed to have an idea the world hated him, but had obviously not been outside of the city to learn other wise. But he couldn't take him out in this state. He'd be too much trouble in the wild.

"So you know nothing about me? Hmmm... I am simply an adventurer who roams the lands in hunt for a quest or treasure, traveling for city to city. I am, as you might call, a warlock; skilled in use of weaponary as well as the same dark magic that you too possess." It was a basic profile. Something simple. Not divulging much about himself but neither did he trust young Auruer to share the secrets he held. "If it helps, I'll answer any questions you have."

Aureur thought for a moment. It was true, this man had saved him from the life of a whore. And he had fed him. And spanked him...but the boy couldn't say he hadn't deserved it.

He supposed he could give him a chance.

"Alright, I'll listen." He said, keeping his eyes on the brush. His bottom still throbbed, and he was hoping not to get another punishment so soon.

"I was born in this city." He began. "Mom was a human. She wouldn't talk much about my father. I got the feeling that at best I was an accident from a brief fling. After she started to show her parents kicked her out onto the streets."

The young half-elf grew angry from the memory. "She found work at an inn like this one, and had me in the cellar. She said my name means something like 'light of the sun' or something in elven, said it was because I was the only light in her life back then." He shrugged. "My first memory is washing dishes when I was little. The innkeepers made us both work for the privilege of sleeping in the cellar and eating table scraps."

He reached for another piece of bread. "About four years ago I accidentally melted a chair just by touching it. The innkeepers said I was a demon and kicked us both out. Didn't matter to them it was the dead of winter, or that Mom was sick."

He shut his eyes tight. "Mom...Mom didn't live much longer. I tried to help her, but I don't know anything about medicine or healing magic." The boy wiped his eyes. "That night I went back, stole every piece of gold the innkeepers had and pissed it all away in a few days." He grinned.

"And that's how I discovered that I was a good thief. So I thought 'if that is to be my lot in life, so be it.' I stole from people who looked like they could afford it, spent it as fast as I got it, then went back for more. Pretty soon I found I could climb up walls like a spider, and do other things too."

He looked over at Rahal. "Alright, your turn. I'm sure you have a story at least half as good eh?"

The man took a mental note of the story that the young boy had told him. It wasn't much but he could at least understand Auruer's reasons for his past living arrangements. But the admission may help the lad put his current position into prospective and see how right now, he has a chance of living a bit better.

Now it was his turn.

"I am a man of no story. I am the son of a blacksmith father and a housewife mother. Both parents have died in war when I was a young lad and I spent many years under the guidance of my uncle. He knew of my abilities from when I was a child and waited for the appropriate time to help me build my strength in both weapon and in magic." Rahal explained, taking a drink from the tumbler on the table. He thought of a moment about those times, but quickly wiped the thoughts, blocking out events which have been haunting him since his younger years.

"I travel from city to city in search of fortunes to be made and offer assistance on the way. I generally don't use any of my magic in the open and keep it for secluded battles unless it is necessary to do so. I originally came to this city to speak to an acquaintance to hand over materials he requested, until I ran into yourself."

Standing up, he stretched for a moment, let joints and muscles strain for a few seconds before he started to gather the left overs from dinner to either put them away or discard of them. He left the bread Aureur had been eating on incase he was still hungry.

"I have plans to visit him tomorrow. I think he may also be some help to you young man."

Hrtofdrkns August 5th, 2013 03:10 AM

The boy finished his bread, then laid back. "Alright, I'll come." He said, at least wanting to pretend he had a say in it. He shook his chains a bit, still testing them. The runes glowed again, keeping his powers in check.

"Damn chains." he said before casting a hasty glance at his new master. His bottom still hurt, and he didn't want another spanking so soon. "I mean...never mind." He stood and quickly moved to the side, out of reach of his master's hand in case he wanted to swat him.

gutterpupper August 13th, 2013 11:04 PM

Rahal took note of Auruer's continued dislike for the chains. "I'm sorry I have not removed them yet, but as soon as a feel I have gathered your trust and willingness to learn and abide rules, I will be more than happy to remove them. When I can count on you to stand by my side in battle instead of against me at all other times, we shall make an arrangement to release them bonds," he said as he gathered all his equipment together into one place.

He wasn't sure how long that would take. Right now, he had a strong feeling Auruer would simply use his powers to help him flee into the night. He hoped the young man could see he wanted to trust him, yo help him, to train him and that he wasn;t against him. But only time would tell this.

It was getting late and he was preparing to sleep. "I didn't plan on a guest," he added as he gestured towards the single bed. "You may retire to the bed when you feel ready, I shall make a make shift bed here for myself," the man offered as he ran a hand through his hair, pushing back hairs over his head.

Hrtofdrkns August 16th, 2013 06:55 AM

"I don't need a bed." The boy said. "I'm used to sleeping in alleyways and abandoned buildings. Just give me a place next to the fire and I'm fine."

He sat next to the fire, curling up with his knees to his chest, his back to the wall. His eyes scanned the room, looking for any threats, refusing to close his eyes until he had a good plan of escape in case he was attacked.

gutterpupper August 21st, 2013 11:38 PM

Rahal shrugged. It seemed that even the guesture of kindness was something the boy was unable to acustom to after his harsh treatments. He still made the make shift bed, incase he changed his mind. This way he hoped he could show his genuinity to the young lad.

"We'll make heed at dawn, the sooner we leave the sooner we can get things done and look atperhaps getting you some suitable clothing and perhaps discuss releasing those bonds," he advised, sharing his plans as he laid on the makeshift bed. He laid on his back stared at the ceiling, lost in thought. Was their anyway he could make this young half-elf see he was not his enemy? Was there anyway he could trust the boy after removing such shackles that contain the dark power he wells inside of him?
