Almost the very instant she reacted to the third stroke, the fourth landed, right across the same place - the delicate sit-spots! The welt was very thick, rising up, and purple in places.

He then paused a few seconds to let her settle down.

The fourth stroke made her jump and half-scream, tears streaming down her face.
