Raising the cubs
 

Rafiki, the old wise baboon, sat in his tree, pondering how Mufassa and his son were getting along. He had heard of the incident in the elephant graveyard, but had hoped that they had put the incident behind them.

Just then, he spotted to small shapes running towards his tree. He leaned forward, and saw that the shapes were two small lion cubs, running at full pace.

"Why are you coming Nala?" Simba asked. "It is not your fault my father is d...d...." He couldn't say the word.

Nala ran along side with Simba "Cause you won't tell me what happened" she said sounding concerned as she followed her friend out of the Pride Lands.

When they finally made it up to the tree, Rafiki jumped down, picked up both cubs and jumped back up into his tree sitting each cub on his knee's. "Now children" he said, gently stroking them to calm them down, "what's the matter?"

Before Nala could get an answer from Simba suddenly something leap down from the giant tree they were infront of and grabbed them, as she closed her eyes and started to scream she heard his gentle voice asking them what was the matter? She opened her eyes and looked up, it was a old baboon but he didn't look scary, Nala wanted to ask who he was first but looked to Simba "Umm there is something bothering him but he won't tell


((this is where Rafiki first finds them after Mufasa's death isn't it? If so then Nala just came across Simba who was running and followed him, he hasn't told her what happened yet))

Rafiki turned to look down on the little boy sitting on his lap, "Simba, what's wrong?" he asked kindly, stroking the boys fur.

"Nothing, everything! I don't know what to do! And what is it you and Nala anyway!" The young lion shouted rude without even noticing it.

"Nothing, everything! I don't know! And what do you and Nala care anyway!?" The cub cried out.

The old baboon looke sympathetically down at the small cub, he had clearly been through a lot and Rafiki decided to help in any way he could. "Because me and Nala are your friends Simba" said Rafiki kindly, "we care about you, and any problems you may be having, where's your father, whare's Mufassa?"

"THAT"S THE PROBLEM!" Simba shouted. "HE IS DEAD AND IT IS ALL MY FAULT! I KILLED MY FATHER!" And he bursted out in tears.

"That's not true" said a voice from afar. Rafiki turned his head and saw Zazu, the kings adviser flying towards him. "Scar knocked me unconcious during Simba's rescue" explained Zazu frantically, "he planned the whole thing, it's an attempt to seize power".
