Unlikely bond
 

Lane Wright was driving down the road in her patrol car, having been called to a nearby area because of some kind of disturbance. She was tired, with only the energy drink that she had drank earlier keeping her awake at the moment. she was glad that her shift was almost over.

Samantha, or Sam as she preferred, had been going from one thrill to another. Her latest one tonight included breaking out of her orphanage and breaking into a local store. She did not notice a silent alarm went off as she got into a bin of sodas.

Lane walked into the building, quickly noticing that it was only a kid.
"And what do you think you're doing young lady?" She demanded, her hands on her hips.

Sam was surprised when she realized she was caught, in a quick second she replied with the only thing she could think to say "I was thirsty"

"Did that give you a reason to break in or to steal?" Lane asked, her voice still firm though not as loud as before.

Samantha remained silent, not wanting to answer

"I don't have all night kid, you know what forget it. come here!" Lane growled, being too tired to deal with anything else.

Samantha slowly came over, knowing she would not have much more then a scolding at the orphanage.

Lane sighed.
"What's your name kid?" she asked, taking the girl's arm and leading her toward the patrol car. Opening the backseat and pointing.
"sit." she ordered

Sam sat down, not showing any kind of expression. She replied "Samantha Adams"
