[GAME JAM] Papers Pleas
https://i.imgur.com/6QiugRA.png
Initially based around a game of a similar name the idea behind Papers Pleas is that you as the player are tasked with disciplining miscreants for various types of bad behavior, your punishment will be judged (totally unique mechanic I swear) and should you punish someone too harshly OR too leniently you will gain a fail, 4 fails loses the game. I didn't have as much time to work on this as I would have liked due to a hectic week but I'm pretty pleased with what I've gotten done. Still much more work to do before I can claim to be fully content with it though! Media Fire link [64-bit] Media Fire Link [32-bit] Edit: Added music, instructions to the main screen and a flash effect on impact, there was me thinking I'd submitted to a jam with MORE than 10 minutes remaining for once! If anyone has any suggestions or bugs to report (there are loads of them so feel free not to) leave a comment, I'm thinking about switching (heh) the application method so that instead of selecting what you want to happen at the start and then watching it take place you actually select and use the implements yourself and then ask to be judged when you think you've finished. ...actually that's totally what I should have done in the first place. |
THIS Looks sick. I'm too busy to check it now, but you better believe I will.

Counting strikes, it always deals one less than I set... Super fun and cute, though!

I liked the game idea. It reminded me of Zekel's SMACS game but with more of a puzzle element to it. The one problem I had was that it was hard for me to judge what was too harsh or severe, since I didn't know how the game calculated everything out. I'd like some sort of quick reference guide in game for that kind of thing if you were still interested in working on it. It was a little annoying that the sliders did not reset every round. On at least 2 occasions I had one still set and ended up overdoing a sentence. I liked how sleek it looked especially, better than the crappy UI I had in my game.
@Urzu: I noticed that only with the cane and paddle, but it could have been all of them. |
Amazing game! I would love to see it in a more fleshed-out state (maybe with different characters and character portraits)!

@Bagool there needs to be a whole lot of balancing done, I'll probably switch from auto-spanking to manual and use the sliders to decide on strength, that'll make gauging the amounts a bit easier (also need to add in disciplinee responses as well).
@lbw yeah, I'm going to expand on this (when I have moment to breathe!), there was initially a section for portraits but I ran out of time so I threw the judging section in there instead. |
Assuming I haven't missed anything, might want to put a 64bitOS only note on the OP.
For those of us who for various reasons have to use something other than our main PC and use the old clunker instead :P. |
