Fighting Monsters and Taming Demigods (Haunting Fire)
 

Cassidy, or more appropriately if you didn't want to end up with an arrow in the eye hated his job! One second he'd just been practicing his bow training and catching up on some much needed drinking time and the next second he was summoned by Chiron to go gather the newest demogod who'd be joining Camp Half-blood.

After tracking clues both magical and physical to the young boys location, with surprisingly swift results as he'd ended up at some rundown excuse for a foster home. And if that wasn't enough, the building was being slowly overrun by monsters. Well, nobody said finding demigods would be easy.

Jack Peters was having... a rather interesting day. People had been stopping outside his foster home all day, and had been forming into a rather large group. He had pointed that out to his foster parents, but naturally they thought nothing off it. They had often overlooked things that didn't make sense. They had once ignored a women how had a furry, hooved leg, and when he pointed that out, they scolded him for pointing out her metal leg! They didn't even notice the hooved one! Idiots, the both of them.

But back to the large group, they were now heading toward his house, and knocked on the door. And while it was hard to tell through the window, Jack was pretty sure one of them only had one massive eye! They also had the biggest dogs he'd ever seen with them. Jack got the feeling that he really shouldn't stick around, so he went around the house and snuck out the back door. He quickly started making his way away from the house, hoping that no one would notice him leave.

Since it was a bit chilly today, he was wearing blue jeans, a green t-shirt, a grey jacket, and his black tennis shoes.

Cass fought tooth and nail with his arrows flying through the eyes, knees and even more pinpoint aimed strikes fired at the monsters that tried to overtake the foster care building.

Pretty soon the mythical creatures stamina was running low as the beasts seemed to......abate? Oh yeah, they must be following some poor, helpless mortal or demigod that had warranted their gaze. The thought pinballing through his head before he sighed FUCK! as he remembered he'd been sent to find the supernatural creature made from the pairing of a God and mortal. And that monsters such as ogres, giants and hellhounds were attracted to such a stimulating smell from such beings.

Cass starting to think hard and retrace his steps to see if he can find out where he might've misstepped before spying a redhead boy from the corner of his eye.

"Hey! You! Stop. Stop right there." He commanded in his best adult like voice.

Jack took one look behind him and bolted. After all those... things attacked, he wasn't about to stop for anybody. Chances are this was one of them coming after him. And he thought he'd gotten out of there unnoticed!

He tried taking various twists and turns, hoping to lose his pursuer, but it wasn't really helping. Whoever, or whatever, was chasing him was quickly catching up!

Cass Clover, expert shot with a bow, able to drink you under the table AND a nonsense jumble of grumpiness and anxiety, ran after the young redhead boy that he'd caught sight of with due haste.

After a few moments of running with his human legs, the satyr stopped playing around and transformed into his mythical form with his brown furred hooves and successfully caught the boy in a tackle.

"So.......who are you? Because I know for a fact that you aren't mortal. At least fully." He asked in a firm voice as he stared into the redheads eyes.

"Let me go! I don't know what you're talking about! Get off of me!" Jack yelled, thrashing and kicking to try to get away. What his stranger said did make him pause for a moment; could this... creature know about his gift? Jack had always been able to do things others couldn't. Things that some would call magic. But this guy couldn't know about it, could he?

Either way, Jack didn't want to stick around to find out. He kept to trying get free, debating whether he should use his gift to try to help him get away.

"Relax! Relax kid. It's okay. I.......know about your powers. I'm here to keep you save. You saw how I took out those monsters? I was sent to take you to a place that can help you." Cass explained, the man's usual way of dealing with things being delayed by his strict orders given to him. Try and relax the boy.

Talk to him first. Then he's all yours if he's......... difficult. Is what the Head Counselor said.

Jack thrashed about for a moment more, but his struggling was quickly calming down and he registered what this person was saying. Eventually he stopped trying to get away and instead warily looked at the man's face, trying to guage how truthful he was.

"What safe place?" Jack said a tone making it clear he didn't quite believe the man's claims. "How do I know I can trust you? And get off of me!" he exclaimed, jerking away once for emphasis

"Fine. Fine." Cass said with a roll of his eyes before getting off the redhead boy. Moments past by with the satyr gauging whether the boy would run away before taking a breath. He didn't feel like running anymore than he had too.

"Ok! The place is called Camp Half-blood. It's a safe place for demigods. Like you I'm guessing. Now........ what's your name. And your powers. I'm supposed to be protecting you. Might as well know those things."

"I'm Jack" he said after a moment. "As for my powers..." he paused, considering what he should tell him. Jack didn't want to tell him everything, but figured he would give him something simple. Controlling fire always seemed pretty basic in fantasy books, maybe it was in real life?

"I have some control over fire" Jack finished, making a small flame flicker around his hand. "So who are you, and what can you do?"
