A hacker’s comeuppance (for Fenrir13)
 

It was the year 2109 and the future was booming. Well at least that’s what all the mega corporations said whenever they were broadcasted. The future was a beautiful sight indeed but not much had changed for those who were poor and couldn’t afford to have a home of their own. The only thing that had changed for them was there were brighter lights and the rules of the world had become even stricter to the point that breaking one meant your immediate termination depending on your age.

One particular girl didn’t really care about those rules as her skill mostly kept her from being caught for breaking them. She was a hacker who usually stole information from other people to either help their enemies or use for herself when the opportunity presented itself. The girl in question was around 14 years old, she had short hair that was dyed neon pink, though the roots of her hair revealed it’s true color to be black. The young teen had vibrant blue eyes, a skull mask over her mouth, and she was a little small for her age. She wore dark clothing which consisted of a pair of black jeans that were torn, a black shirt with a pink skull on it, and a pair of black combat boots. Despite her skills as a hacker she was actually pretty agile and could work as both a hacker and a thief if the need arises. Her true name wasn’t known as her parents had abandoned her, but she named herself Kairi.

She was currently residing in an old apartment building since it was harder to find her there. When she heard a knock on her door she figured it was just one of her only friends bringing her food again. “Pedro I told you I’m not hungry.”

Bill Turner loaded his pistol and approached the old apartment building he had been sent to, exiting his police car and leaving behind the woman who was his partner to guard the car. The 35 year old was working as an officer for Knight Guards Security, one of the most powerful security firms in the country who handled that what the police of the state had once been responsible for. The Cyber department of his employer had succesfully tracked down a hacker and now he was sent to make the arrest. Bill had short grey hair, a square jaw and light blue eyes. He wore the bulky armored vest of his profession and a KGS uniform. He sighted, he didn´t make a lot of money and his job was dangerous, never sure if he´d see another day and continue to support his family or be killed by the many terrorists, gang members or members of organized crime syndicates that plagued future America. But this time his job was simple, just arrest a hacker that was probably helpless, hell, maybe even a minor. When he reached the hiding place of the hacker he knocked on the door. "Open up, police!!", he shouted,"You have three seconds to comply, otherwise I will break open the door." And he prepared to do just that. It was not that Kairi hadn´t made it difficult for her to be caught, but eventually even the best hackers were caught and usually ended up working for the private security firms in order to avoid a prison sentence. The same would likely happen to her, too. But Bill would add a little extra lesson to make sure Kairi knew what a troublesome little brat she had been...

When the comment came back in English and not Spanish, Kairi knew Pedro wasn’t the one at the door. Well that and the fact that he had announced himself as the police had given that away too.

“Mother fucker, how did they find me?” she whispered to herself before closing her computer. It was an old model, which also had made it a little harder to track her, but now she figured that wouldn’t really matter since she was caught. She quickly took the flash drive out of it as she had saved most of her important information on that, before opening the window to her apartment room.

“Go ahead and break it down then!” she shouted back while preparing to throw the computer at the officer the moment he stepped inside. Once the door had been broken down she threw her computer and leapt out the window, not sure whether or not she had hit the officer.

The girl thankfully lived on the second floor only, so she was high but not too high. And the fact that she had stolen a pair of gravity boots had helped too as they cushioned her fall. She took off, not even noticing the parked police car.

Bill had narrowly avoided being hit by the computer and rushed to the window only to see Kairi dissapear in the distance. "Fuck, now way you are getting away, kiddo.", he cursed and called his partner, Lucy, a tall blonde woman dressed in the same uniform as he. "Got it.", she called back after hearing his instructions. Running fast the woman caught up with the juvenile hacker and blocked her path. "Don´t move, or you will get the taser!", she threatened, taking the gadget out of her belt. It would not injure Kairi but still hurt like hell and stop her should she not surrender.

Kairi thought about taunting the man but figured running away was her main priority right now. That came to a halt the moment another officer, this one a female, came charging after her before blocking the path onward. Kairi held up her hands as the taser was pointed at her and started slowly backing away from her. “Chill,” she said quickly. “Alright alright you got me, but I ain’t going to jail! Not my fault you fuckers can’t keep your data safe.” Despite her words she didn’t put up a fight as she did not want to get hit with a taser, they were much more dangerous than they had been years ago.

"Well see. We will take you to headquarters and then we'll see how to deal with you. As you are a minor you will likely get away with a slap on the wrist. But we'll assign a guardian to you. No way we'll let you live unsupervised.", Lucy explained before Bill caught up. Right now he did not know that he would volunteer to raise the girl and teach her better manners, but he would soon come to the conclusion that it was a good idea, if only because it would earn him a bonus from his boss. They put the girl in cuffs and made her enter the police car.

“Bitch I don’t need a guardian, if anything Pedro’s my guardian,” Kairi responded, referring to her friend, though she had no idea he was the one who had actually called the police on her as he didn’t want her to continue living the way she did. He had been compensated for the information he had given up and would be able to live comfortably as well, so he was more than happy to give help the police if it meant they would both be better off. As Kairi was cuffed the pink haired girl would let out a huff and looked out the window as they drove off.

"Call me bitch one more time and I will beat your ass, are we clear, little girl?!", Lucy threatened. Police work had made her tough. Bill chuckled. "I would like to see that. Little brat has it coming.", he said before they arrived at police headquarters.

“You can’t beat me you know, officers aren’t allowed to use excessive force against a minor,” Kairi countered, her understanding of the threat being completely different than what Lucy had in mind. “And I ain’t a little girl or a brat. So sorry, miss bitch, but I won’t be calling you anything else besides that.”

"I warned you...", Lucy said and turned the girl around before smacking her butt a couple of times, much to Bill's amusement.
"Stop giving us so much sass or your not going to sit down comfortably for a while!", she threatened. "I'd listen if I was you!", Bill recommended.
