Adopting Trouble [For Terra]
 

The evening that Joey and Rose had spent in the Wilson cabin had been without too much incident so far. They’d played together in the creek for a little while, they’d caught fire flies, and then they’d snuck a couple of their father’s beers out of the fridge to drink. It was the sort of late summer activities that they’d missed out on having both together and in general for the past few years. There had been the private school that Joey had been sent off to, and the entire different country that Rose had been in that had kept them apart in any way but their dreams then. They had each other now, though, and they’d felt determined to make up for lost time in any way that they could…so they’d cuddled up beside each other on the porch swing and sipped their stolen beers in peace.

It had seemed like a quiet evening where they’d be left to their own devices. It wasn’t unusual, after all, for the two remaining Wilson children to be left practically raising themselves as their father pursued his ‘career’ as a mercenary. It might have hurt at one point, and maybe it still did deep down, but it was covered up with a sort of familiarity with the ache.

Rose had just guided Joey to rest his head down against her shoulder, fingers twisting through his curls as she gazed off into the woods that surrounded them. It seemed like total solitude to be in the Appalachian mountains with only the unspoken memories of the Wilson clan clinging to the area. Really, there wasn’t anything that she’d anticipated seeing other than coyotes or ghosts. So it startled her when she noticed that there was something that seemed to be nearby. She could hear motion, she thought, and she could practically feel a shift in the air that was leaving her unsettled.

Something that Joey picked off of her in an instant as he slowly pulled back up to see if he could find what she was hearing.

‘I don’t see anything,’ he signed to her quickly, putting down the beer bottle to free up his hands. It wasn’t, however, enough to free him from the obvious crime of having been just as happy to sneak those out of the fridge underage as his half-sister was. Something that they were likely going to have to hear about in a few short moments when they became aware that it was not a ghost or a ghoul slipping through the woods surrounding them…

Terra walked through the woods, a distinct air surrounding her. She closed her eyes to focus her senses and shifted through the woods, slightly adjusting her course. As she came out of the brush, eyeing the two with a not-so-happy look on her face. Folding her arms, she shook her head. “Really? Sneaking beers? I thought you two would know better.” She said, lightly feeling the red-orange feather in her hair as her aura increased. As she sat down in a nearby chair, she kept her firm gaze on them. “Care to say anything, or do you want to skip right to your punishment?” She asked.

Joey’s soundless gasp turned into a soft little exhale at realizing that it was Terra coming out of the woods, and not someone seeking to avenge their family lost to Deathstroke’s hands. He didn’t have long to feel relief, however, or even the pang of happiness that followed to see her familiar face. There was a scolding about the trouble they'd already gotten themselves into that was quick to remind him that, even with as much as they loved her visits, they also came with some of the missing parenting that the two were so unused to.

The boy raised his hands to start to sign a response, before he seemed to think better of the situation. It wasn't going to work for him to justify himself and he could already tell. Terra always meant business when she told them what was going to happen, and she certainly wasn't going to be impressed with their attempts at establishing mistaken maturity. It was just so hard to grow up in the way that they had, and not find themselves growing curious about the temptations that had been left at their fingertips. They'd already found that they liked the warmth at the pits of their stomachs that came along with the drinks so it had seemed so simple to just keep sneaking a drink or two in their father's absence.

'Can't you just skip that if we promise not to do it again' he pleaded, wide eyes demonstrating the tone that his signs would have otherwise lacked.

Rose, meanwhile, took a final sip out of her stolen drink before giving a heavy sigh as she took both their bottles to tip over and pour out onto the ground. She couldn't help but think that her brother was acting like a little princess about the whole thing. They were going to get a spanking and it was going to be absolutely miserable. And that was that. It wasn't unusual, of course, that he would put up more of an attempt to avoid being in trouble because he was the more emotional and softer hearted of the two. It had always been like that between them and she had her own weakness for his typically sweet qualities.

"It's okay, JoJo." She assured, pulling him close so she could soothe some of his upset. "I'll go first, okay?"

The girl glanced up towards Terra to see if she agreed with that.

Terra nodded a bit at Rose’s assurance, giving the girl a kind look. She didn’t particularly enjoy punishing them, but knew she had to keep a strict attitude with them when punishment was imminent. However, she couldn’t hide her sense of pride at Rose’s caring for her brother. “Joey, would you mind fetching a switch for me?” She asked, her tone not demanding, but actually requesting. She wasn’t going to punish him more if he didn’t want to retrieve one. Looking over at Rose, she patted her lap. “Go ahead and bare your bottom, Rose.” She instructed, setting a bag on the ground seemingly out of nowhere.

Joey bit down on his lower lip at that request. He knew exactly how much it stung to be given a switching compared to a hand spanking; his father had always been more traditional with implements. So the sting of a switch or a belt were largely what he associated with a 'proper' spanking, and tonight's misbehavior might have earned them more than just a few little light swats. Still he really didn’t want to pick something out that might be used on Rose and not just him. Rose picked up on the thought because he was projecting it ever so slightly towards her. She gave him a little nod of consent to do as he was told, before coming to stand in front of Terra. The girl took a deep breath before unfastening her jeans and tugging them down to her knees before she bent over the other's lap. Terra waited patiently as the two acted, nodding silently at the two. As Rose came over and undid her jeans, she nodded in approval and sat up straight so her lap could accommodate Rose. Rose gritted her teeth at the firm swats to her backside. They stung, without a shadow of doubt, but what stung worse was to feel so completely immature in the moment. It was exactly as Terra had identified; she wanted to grow up faster and leave the confusion of childhood far behind her. Rose gritted her teeth even harder at hearing Terra explain exactly how much more embarrassing the enema could get if needed. It was clear that she was trying her very best to be mindful of that 'depends on your behavior' comment and give no additional reason to find herself having to be disciplined further.
