Game Jam 2023 Poll
 

EDIT: OK, the twins category has a significant lead, and this lead has only grown steadily. 256 votes have been cast so far, and such a wide margin makes me fine with calling the results.

The twin category wins. This can involve actual twins. It can also involve doppelgangers, or lookalikes. Basically, anything where there is potential for mistaken identity, or two people who look the same. March 31st is the deadline. A poll will be opened around that time to vote on your favorite game.

I'm kicking off the Game Jam 2023 with a poll. Last year's theme was "role reversal". This year, I have a list of 10 potential themes, but if anyone has any other ideas and there is sufficient interest, we can go with another option. I'm thinking voting should end in 2 weeks, and the Game Jam development deadline should be March 31st.

As a brief aside, the "fanfiction" poll option is pretty much the sort of content we see in the art section of this site all the time. Pick a favorite fictional setting and make a game in that world. I think the other themes are self-explanatory.

"Reluctant Spanker" and "twins" sound quite intriguing ngl.

Reluctant spanker or Frat/Sorority sound the best to me. For instance one of my primary fantasies is reluctant female spanker (either they have always been sub, they are philosophically against spanking or even inflicting pain , or they think they would useless at it ..."low spanker esteem") that finds out she either enjoys it, or is VERY VERY GOOD at it, or best yet, both.

But honestly, all the categories sound good and interesting.

1 vote for "mystery" for me. A fucking detective spanking game sounds like it would be fun, or a game where you solve a case and spank the criminal. "The maid did it."

Making this poll run for 2 weeks was probably too long
148 votes have been cast and over a third of them are for the twins category. I'm thinking of giving this maybe one or two more days and then, if the trend remains the same, calling it so devs will have more time to work on their games.


I was definitely not expecting that category to be this popular but that's clearly a niche this community is really into, so I look forward to seeing what comes of it.

I'm finishing up testing on a pretty huge game I've been working on, and I've got a 2 week trip to Japan coming up, so it's unlikely I will be able to create a game for this Game Jam but I definitely look forward to playing other people's contributions.

(A quote from a tweet that obviously has more, y'know, real life Implications, but definitely applies to this trend of twins/mistaken identity! Even though I voted for it, I'm sad to see it so heavily favoured over something like mystery - we need more mystery games on this site like the aforementioned Sydney's Curse!)

can you give me a reluctant spanker example?

My two cents: the best quality for any game to have is adaptability for gender/orientation. I know that's a lot of work, but it really broadens the appeal!!
