should we have a discord server? it is free and it can be locked down if they want access I have to have a animeotk account with a private link you got to have when you login first time through the animeotk plus we can validate their username I call a free backup plan

what do you think?

I've been wanting to do so for a long time, I just haven't had the time.

It may be time to choose some members to help get it going. My only reservation is last time we did that, it got taken over by woke and crazy ideologues and it almost destroyed the site (I always stayed away from that side of things. It was laregely with ai-kun).

mmmm if you like i can help out? if you like keep it simple (lock it down) put bounce front of the door make it 18 months acquired on Aotk and if you ban from AOTK site you get ban from The server and the user name on server need to match the AOTK site

you can make it two ways if you get a timeout on discord you get a time out on site if you can do that

and for the woke and crazy ideologues that easy to do we can ban tham

no to open mic rooms I believe in privacy in our line of .... sorry I don't know how to say that

Why not an IRC server like there used to be?

irc is a bit more of a different beast, lots of commands to remember if you dont have a script for it lol, we are however looking into the ins and outs of discord and rather than having an unoffical discord like last time we are looking for more control if we do it this time.

If what I've heard is true, we may actually end up needing to move back to IRC if Discord kicks us. I've heard tell of Discord kicking channels when the sites they represent are of the wrongthink variety.

But in today's current ecosystem, I think Discord would probably be the better choice for the average user than IRC. I'm under the impression it is quite heavily utilized, and having consolidated interfaces for users is a definite plus. I finally just stopped using pidgin myself this week as my last friend that I talked to through it has finally moved to another service. I've gone through AIM, ICQ, gmail talk, yahoo talk, bonjour, facebook talk, skype, and slack on it. And most of those services have shut down. Man it's been a long time.

I was half thinking of putting up a poll asking users which they would rather use. It may be a good idea to even do both, with a crosstalk feature. But right now I think Discord is the right choice for the immediate future.

We are currently trailing things, a server has been setup with special users (VIPs, artists etc), ld say we could possibly open up to the wider community soon, but wanted to setup things and make it easier to set roles for the special usergroups first while taking suggestions for rooms and such.
