---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin waited at the Outer Guard Post for the Brisby's arrival at Thorn Valley. He had missed them, and was honestly a bit eager to begin training the two boys. |
Timothy came running into view, looking back and calling out loud enough for him to hear. "Martin! Hurry up you slow poke! And Cynthia, go home!"
Cythia, his little sister, comes running up panting. "But I wanted to see you off." "You coulda done that home. But since thats all you wanted, bye sis, now go." He begins walking and she clings to his waist. "Oh come on little sister, I have serious training to to. In mind and body, and you'd just get in the way." "Thats not true! I can train just like you, Martin, even Teresa! Please big brother, give me a chance!" She gives him a pair of big puppy eyes. "No. -.-" "Your so cruel! >.<" Timothy comes dragging her up to Justin. "Hi Justin! I'm finally here. Martin is coming, he stayed back so that Teresa could catch up. And she had to come because Cynthia followed us." "And I'm not leaving! I wanna train with you too Justin!" She tried her puppy dog eyes on Justin now. "Please let me stay and train too mister Justin?" |
Second Movie/Book/Current: Timothy - 9 or 10, Cynthia - 6, 7, or 8, Martin - 12 or 13, Teresa - 13 or 14 (Possible that she is Martin's Twin)
First Movie/Book: Timothy - 5 or 6, Cynthia - 2, 3, or 4, Martin - 8 or 9, Teresa - 9 or 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin blinked a little wide eyed. He remembered Mrs. Brisby told him that Cynthia would not be coming because she was maybe just a year too young. Even so, if, when Mrs. Brisby came to check in a week (more likely sooner with her daughter missing), she might sort this out, whether or not that meant she approved. He smiled then. "She can stay until your mother decides, Timothy. Ah, there they are," he said with his usually chuckle, as Martin and Teresa caught up. Martin walked up to Justin, who'd thought he'd have to start lecturing the boy immediately on pride, but instead saw how irked Martin looked. The look conveyed something to the effect of, 'expletive, expletive, stupid siblings, expletive.' If facial expressions were as valued for there meaning as they should be, he would have had to have his mouth washed out with soap and water. "Hello Justin," he said, trying to quickly lock himself into his training mindset. "Hello Justin," Teresa said as she caught up, looking worried. "Sorry about Cynthia, sir, she just..." she said, often being the quickest to defend her sister. Justin stopped her however in mid sentence. "There nothing to be sorry about. The girl is just curious, that's all. Now, let me show you all around Thorn Valley. I trust Jeremy's flight was not to ruff on you?" he asked, leading them from the guard post to the city gate. |
Cynthia cheered and began tugging on Timmy's shirt. "Did you hear that Timmy, I get to stay! I get to stay!"
Timothy made a noise like he was about to puke. "Cut it out Cynthia, I think the ride from Jeremy made me sick." As he walked after Justin she crossed her arms. "Sometimes I wonder if your as sick as you think you are." Truth is he never really was, but Cynthia was a bit too dense to realize that. She hurried after him, and looking around with a cute wide eyed look she slowly moved closer to Justin, clinging to him. Timmy smiled at his siblings and then said, "So what are we going to do first Justin? Where are we going?" |
They reached the gate and the guards, easily recognizing their captain, opened the door to the city. It was like nothing the children had ever seen, since it was actually a city. They'd seen the 'villages' of mice that would form, but never anything like this. "First," Justin said, "I'm going to show you around. Now, none of you wander off. The city isn't particularly dangerous, but you don't want to get lost without me here. If they don't recognize you, they'll be a bit harsh." And so will I if I have to go find you, he thought.
"After I show you around, there is of course the matter of where all of you will live and also making sure the school teachers are aware of your arrival. Apart from the training you do with me, you'll all be in school," Justin said. Martin was the kind of boy who, if he knew what school was, might have groaned at the idea, but the truth was he had no idea what it was like. "What'll we learn in school?" "What will we learn, Martin. Reading, writing, history, math, and so on. When you train with me, I'll teach you everything from survival to sword fighting, how to get out of traps, and so on. Chances are, Martin, after a while, you might end up training with Brutus." Martin was intrigued with that last part, and Cynthia was more interested in school to be honest. "Who's Brutus?" Teresa asked. "That," Justin replied. There were two rats fighting out in front of what may have been some kind of bar, and there was an even larger rat holding them off of each other. He wore a breastplate over a gray tunic and over that a red vest. He had an enormous spear for a weapon, sitting off against the wall. He simply held them in the air while they kept charging at each other, yelling. Teresa suddenly remembered her mother's story. This was the big rat whose job had been to drive people away from the entrance back when they lived in the rose bush. "Oh my..." |
Timothy gulps at the sight of Brutus, he truly was a sight. "Um, he's friendly.. right?"
Cythia being a curious one slowly eased her way over, before scurrying over to Brustus and looking him over. "Wow mister Brutus, your really big and strong. I bet you could lift a big boulder or something." She stared up at him in awe. Timmy gasped and ran over, wrapping his arms around her. "I-I'm sorry mister Brutus! I hope my little sister didn't offend you sir!" Brutus looked at them for a long while, before smiling. "It is fine little one... Do not fear me for my size and strength." He tossed the two rats opposite directions and into piles of rubble. "Justin, who might I ask are these children?" |
OOC: I think that, for the sake of something I have in mind, this might be just after the first movie and in stead of the second movie. So, Timmy is probably about 7, Cynthia about 5, Martin about 9, and Teressa about 10.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IC: Jason wanted to make some crack along the lines of 'please don't brute us Brutus,' but successfully resisted. "These are the children of Mrs. Brisby," he stated. Martin and Teresa were close behind, and Martin was, to be honest, more excited now. If Justin was indeed right, and he got to train with Brutus eventually, he could well enough be as strong as any rat. He also remembered the story about the spear. In his mind then, he devoted himself to train zealously until he was ready. "This is Timothy, here, and this one is Cynthia. These two back here are Martin and Teressa," Justin continued. Then he looked at Timmy, "and indeed there is no need to worry. Brutus is strong enough to lift large rocks for us indeed, but gentle. Now, I think I should show you around a bit more. Where would you like to see first? The town, the training grounds, or maybe the school. How about the cathedral?" Meanwhile, Mrs. Brisby was mounting on to Jeremy in the meadow where they lived during the summer. She was flustered with Cynthia at this point, but to be honest was also thankful. "That girl disappears every other minute," she complained. "I'm sure she's fine Mrs. Brisby. I've got to be honest, I don't know how I didn't notice her, but I'm sure she was there. It felt like they were maybe a mouse to heavy or something," Jeremy replied. He spread his wings and lifted off of the ground. |
Timmy smiled and said excitedly, "Can we see the training grounds first?! After all thats where we're going to be training."
Brutus picked up his spear and rested it on his shoulder. "Unless you need another tour guide Justin I'll be on my way. Have to continue my rounds you know." Brutus walked off. While everyone talked Cythia noted the direction Justin motioned his hand when he mentioned "the school." She'd always wanted to see one, and she didn't much care for the same things as the boys. So when no one was looking she snuck off in the direction of the school, on her own little adventure. |
"I agree!" Martin said excitedly. Then, for one second Martin looked around. "Uh... guys, where did Cynthia go?"
Justin looked around. "Blast it all. Does she do this a lot?" he asked. Martin nodded, and at this point, Teresa began to freak out. She was the one who always protected Cynthia, after all. "We'll find her. It's just a matter of where she is. Surely, one of the guards will probably find her and bring her to us while we're looking," Justin said. |
Cynthia walked down the street that lead to the school. facinated by all around her, she paid little attention to all else.
Teresa and the others began frantically searching for Cynthia. Being the oldest, Teresa felt an impulsive urge to look out for Cynthia. So with her young sister missing, she had worry written all over her face. |
