Run-away Prey
 

Joshua keyes was a man in his early fourties who prided himself on his calm and controll. But right now his daughter Hanna was seriously trying his patience.

The family lived in a quit suburban home on the outskirts of the city. Himself, his wife Lily, and their 11 year old daughter Hanna. Hanna used to be such a sweet girl. But eversince she turned ten she had become a royal brat. testing her parents patience to the limit.

they had tried everything. They had reasoned with her. pleaded with her. yelled at her. Ignored her. Nothing was working. And tonight proved to be another exhausting trial.

"Hanna I'm not going to tell you again! Your mother told you to do your chores and then your homework. Now get off your butt and get to it!"

Joshua said. trying hard not to raise his voice against his rebellious daughter.

Hanna, an 11 year old girl, was laying on her bed, on her laptop computer, doing stuff that her parents didn't think was important. She had been unusually rebellious this past year,and has been refusing to do as told.

"I'll do it all later." she said, not looking up from her computer "So just leave me alone."

Joshua sighed and mentally counted to five to try and calm down. leaning one arm against the doorway of her room. Her attitude was sapping the last of his mental reserves.

"No young lady your gonna do it now! You mother asked you half an hour ago so you've had plenty of time to sit behind that blasted Laptop."

"I'm busy with things." Hanna said

Joshua gritted his teeth and walked up to hanna's bed. Snatching up her laptop and pulling the Internet and power cable from their socket in its back.

"you can have this back once your done with your chores!"

Joshua said and promptly turned around. stuffing Hanna's Laptop under his arm and making his way to her bedroom door.

"Hey, I was in the middle of talking with a friend!" Hanna said angrily. She got up and hald pushed Josh to the all next to the door, and snatched back her computer. "Honestly, what part of 'I'll do it later' can't you get through your brain?!" she said bitterly as she set her computer back on her bed, then forcfully pushed Josh out of her room, and slammed the door in his face, then locking the door.

joshua lost his temper at last. banging his fist on Hanna's door for a good 5 minutes. shouting to her to open it up. Eventually his anger burned out and he gave up with an exasperated sigh

"Fine, you can stay in there. No supper for you tonight!"

With angry footsteps he marched downstairs to join his wife lily. who after seeing his angry face shook her head.

"What are we going to do with that girl?" lily sighed.

"I dont know" joshua said bitterly as he flopped onto the livingroom couch. "But right now I might even considder giving her up for adoption."

Fuming mad, Hanna reestablished her internet connedtion and then told her friend they'd have to talk later. She then shut down the computer, and just lay on her bed.

About 30 minutes later, Lily, Hanna's mother walked up the stairs. She decided to give it one more try to try and reason with her little girl. she walked up to hanna's bedroom door and knocked gently on the polished wood.

Hanna? It's mom honey. Can we talk?

"What's the point?" Hanna asked. She turned away from Lily.
