1. Does it take 1,000 posts to become a gold member? Any other requirements?
2. I've (I think I have) been a member for a month, and am still "Level 2".
3. Where's that "Donate" button hiding? I can't find it ("Anime OTK Original")
4. Why don't members have the permission "Edit Thread" on their own threads? (To change the thread title or thread image after posting the thread.)
5. Is it possible for us to have a poll or something on globally disabling the objective rating system on the Gallery? (RobM seconds this, apparently).

To get back to you as best as I understand it...

1) There are other requirements, they're not public. Having a thousand crappy one-liner posts in the RP section isn't something we encourage members to do just for the sake of it.
I mean, hell, if you do about 50+ GOOD RP posts you can get the RPer blue tag which is better. Its certainly something I'd encourage a newer member to engage in... well spelt, grammered with multiple paragraphs, characters that make sense, that don't whine and arn't talking pokemon (for no adequatly explored reason).

2) It's automatic, either it happens or it doesn't. Wait longer and lurk moar.

3) Thats... a good question. Right now PM AI directly for instructions.

4) Thats a moderators privilage.

5) No, thats not on the cards. While I'm not against public debate or people discussing the issues... I despise the America's Got Talent/Big Brother idea of "SMS text your vote to..." If they're globally removed its because that was the rational decision made by an informed group of moderators and the sites Admin, not because 51% of the site decided to go one way and the other 49% can go swivel.

1. If you look at my posts in the roleplay and other sections, I do believe few of them are below one hundred characters (80 is one line according to vBulletin, lol)

These, and many more, are just some thoughts and questions I had. Is there anything special with a coloured name? (Beside the fact that colours look pretty *drools*)

Yellow seems to be Administrator of some kind.
Uhh... Pink is some kind of moderator?
Orange is some kind of moderator?
Blue... (light blue / cyan) is roleplayer
Dark blue.. I don't know what it is.
What "Writer" get as a color?
Green is... artist?
Gold is.. gold.

I'm missing some of them...

You're posts are one line, sometimes two sentances, you're not going to get the RPer tag with that my friend. No chance. 200 characters is something I'd expect a good RPer to spend cleaning their nose with and thats about your capacity from what I've seen.

You can try and argue me into supplying a hard number of words and characters that are acceptable and a hard number of posts you have to manage, then you go searching through every post you've ever done with an excel spreadsheet, tally them and throw them at me... but I'm not going to do that.

And whatever you think about the 'donate' button, AotK isn't attached to a credit-beauro and you'd be quit mad to give us your credit-card number. There's no button you can press to send us money now and there's never been one to my knowledge. There might have once been a link to a page called 'Donate'... but I'm prepared to believe it was just a page that said 'contact AI'. As an actual button, I believe it was a metaphor.

I don't know why you are taking an aggressive nature to my post reply, I was simply clearing up information, not aggravated or "trolled" in any way...

I can understand that some people can pull out a few hundred characters for an RP post, but I cannot always do this without over-explaining something as simple as flipping one's hair, or not letting the other person message what they might do. I find when I read the posts of people that make "long posts", you don't have a chance to say what your character was doing in the middle of all that.

It's just my humble opinion, I am not trying to get into any fights... Nor did the thought of making an averages based XLSX spreadsheet of my posts come cross my mind.

Damn, that's a creative idea, but I simply know my posts are not long. I have a 1600x1200 monitor with 50dpi, so even your messages each fit on one line (Your third paragraph fit on one and a tenth lines.). This is why I had to clarify that "80 characters" is what it called a line. Meh, its not me being angry, beligerant or upset - terse, perhaps I admit - I'm just not fond if people attempting to quantify this sort of thing with hard numbers. It's just something we get a lot, people with 2000+ 'one-line' posts trying to indicate about ten posts in four different threads that are 'quite long' and claiming to have satisfied all requirements with this.

From my understanding, the roleplayer color is bestowed upon those people who the people in charge feel should get it. There's no set character number, nor any other prerequisites that are written down rules. You either get it or you don't, and (to me at least) it's no biggie.

I find, personally, that my posts while roleplaying depend on the other person's posts. I have a thread going with Hrtofdrkns where both of us take our time, plan out what's going to happen and descriptively post about it. I also have a thread going with JD500 that's very off the cuff and he tends to give me one liners, so I give him one liners right back. I enjoy both threads equally, and it's a nice challenge for me to explore more than one type of posting. As long as my one liners don't bother him, his don't bother me.

It's all up to your preference. The idea of forcing myself to write out extensively long posts just to show off to the powers that be that I am deserving of a change of color is silly in my opinion, but that's also only my opinion. You may feel different, and you have that right. Just my 2 cents. :)

Well, I do not say all of my posts are long, but I am willing to bet that over half of them meet a standard of 200 or more characters, if that is the standard we want to go by. I'm just making it easier by posting the Character Count at the end of my posts now, because your post has made me curious as to what the quality of my posts really are.

I would like to point out that it is not always the quantity of characters used in a post, but how you use the words in which these characters form. While I can get the same point across with merely a hundred characters in this post alone, I chose a longer format as to not be misunderstood in any way. I just hope me explaining this clarifies a bit for you.

The fact that I keep saying I want 2,000 posts is me setting a goal. The goal is much more detailed than that, but you get nowhere without setting goals to meet. (again, just my humble opinion, feel free to disagree with it.) I am also going to make my posts now well over five hundred characters where possible, and hopefully that obtains your approval.

Okay, this makes a little bit of sense to me now. I thought the orange colour was given based on posts, (in contrast to the light blue role-player denomination that few members have.) I don't think it really matters what colour I am, I just don't like this plain white colour.

It is very true that your posts end up being different based on your other person's posts, and if they only post one line, then it is hard for me to post a two line response to that. (Unless that one line is a very descriptive run-on sentence..) When role-playing with Angelty, I find it very hard to use proper grammar or make my posts long, but I still manage just fine.

I don't think you can really say somebody is a bad role-player or member because their posts are one liners, maybe that is how they prefer to type. As long as nobody they role-play with has a problem with that, then nobody else should either.

I firmly agree. :)

I find the term 'one-liner' very bad too, as people who have large wide screen have much longer and fewer lines than those with old small square display.

I also always enlarge the font because the stantard font is so small it's killing my eyes. So what's one line to others is probably 3 lines to me.

But yeah, as a proper term, I'm probably 'half-liner' RPr as because of the language barrier and pathetic writing skills combined, typing anything longer than that takes insane amounts of time and effort.
But isn't the main point in it that everyone should have the chance to try it out...
