Default Trespassers Beware

James Hopkins, was a stern quiet man in his late forties who lived on the outskirts of your typical average sized town. Although many in town knew the Hopkins name, little was known about the man himself. It was apparent that he was a man of considerable means, because he lived on a remote but ample piece of property in a sizable old plantation style home. He lived alone, preferring the peace and quiet. His property was surrounded by woods with an open meadow in the center where his house stood. There is also an orchard of apple trees, just full of beautiful juicy apples, and a small lake on the opposite edge of the property from the town. Most importantly, at least in the mind of James Hopkins, were the several, "No Trespassing" signs posted all around the edge of the property. Of course it was true that over the years some of them had become less conspicuous than others due to the overgrowth of the woods, but they existed nonetheless. Besides there were plenty of rumors about the terrible Mr. Hopkins floating through the town that served more than ample warning to most that Mr. Hopkins was not a man to be trifled with or crossed. Nevertheless, Mr. Hopkins was always on the lookout for anyone would dare disturb his private sanctuary.
