Simon gave him a hard look. He worked very hard to support his son, but he hadn't been able to buy him a car. He hadn't yet told his son, but he'd been putting aside money as often as he could to buy him a nice secondhand car. He wanted to surprise him for his birthday.
"Jack, we've been over this! We can't afford it, and I'm sorry, but that's why you ride to bus to school. Or you wait ten minutes for me to take you to school!"
He shook his head, and started down the street.
"Jack, you don't seem to appreciate what you have, so I'm taking your phone. You're getting a spanking, and then I think an essay telling me just how much you have, and how fortunate you are!"
Conrad blushed deeply, at that.
"No, Dad! I'm 15! You can't put me in the corner like some little kid! You can't spank me either! It's the last week of school, and all the homework is useless! None of that matters!" he exclaimed. He glared at his father, redfaced, knowing that no amount of arguing would change his father's mind.
