"Yes you will, Em," Mom said more forcefully. "You're already in trouble and you're making it worse. You'll do it unless you want an earlier curfew. 1 AM is a pretty lenient curfew, if you ask me. Want me to make it midnight? I can make it even earlier if you keep telling me no and wasting my time like this," Mom threatened.
"Now take your damn clothes off and put them in your hamper. Now."
Maybe Em could tell, but Mom was using the tone of voice, and had the same attitude and facial expressions she would have, back when she used to spank her as a younger teenager. Mom had yet to say anything about spanking, but maybe Em could just wonder what Mom was thinking right now.
