Burning Ambition (For Leon Tekashi)
It was a rather dull afternoon.
Cloudy skies hung over the forests that hung over the western outskirts of Mie, one that lead to a port town that bordered off of the North Pacific.
The wind began to blow, rattling the plant life as a young teenaged girl walked through a pathway leading towards said town. A brunette with...slightly unkempt long locks that were tied in a pony tail that hung behind her.
She wore a beige jacket with a black shirt and navy jeans and what looked like black combat boots. For someone so young, she already had small bags under her eyes. She was clearly exhausted, but...the look hidden behind her chestnut irise told that she was tired in more than just body.
But in mind...in spirit...she was tired...these feeling were nestled behind a feeling of determination that also seemed to cloud her mind. It's what encouraged her to keep walking.
The girl's name was Amaya...her surname was... Kazuki.
Long years ago, such a clan name would be talked of throughout Kansai and a majority of the country itself, as a clan of nobility with shining spirits but possessed hidden power that made them forces to be reckoned with.
But nowadays...they were forgotten. The Kazuki were scattered, nearly destroyed by a more vengeful clan for crimes that some would find questionable...others would find their fate deserved.
Amaya was of the main branch of the clan, and as first daughter to her parents, she would become heiress to the clan name, and was supposed to bring glory to her surname, and become a leader her family can rely on.
But now that was in shambles...she could do nothing but sit back as her parents were slaughtered before her eyes as a little girl, and was forced to flee along with her other kin...she barely made it out alive.
Now Amaya was 15 years of age...and a C-Class guild member who traveled the country in search of her brethren...in hopes of reuniting the survivors and start anew...the only memory of her family attached to her was the golden necklace she wore around her next since childhood. One the girl grasped onto as horrid memories plagued her thoughts and hindered her already narrowing focus.
She felt weak...she wanted to sleep...sleep...but knew she had to keep going...how could she hope to protect her kin if she couldn't even protect herself, and thus had to grow stronger. She worked tirelessly, day and night, hoping to find work, while always traveling to keep her presence relatively unknown. The girl was inwardly paranoid...feeling that at some moment someone would come out of nowhere and slay her for being apart of a crime that she didn't commit...but for the crime of simply bearing her name.
Her mind drifted slowly, she couldn't help but put one palm to the ruby studded on her necklace, and one palm to the holster for her only weapon on her side.
"Come on...keep yourself together...you're almost there...perhaps just another mile or so..." she thought to herself, taking a deep breath and pressing forward.
But then she suddenly heard a rustle, and she flinched, for suddenly a dagger was thrown from the trees across at her. Her eye widened as the blade was aimed directly for her chest, but she managed to move herself out of the way faster to where it was only her right arm that was affected. She shut an eye and grit her teeth as her jacket sleeve was torn through and she now how nice sized wound on her upper right arm. The girl couldn't help but bring her left hand to cover it, only to blink as she heard a new voice emerge.
"Damn...I missed...you're slippery, toots..." came the scratchy voice of rugged young man as he emerged from the bushes, twirling another dagger in his hand.
Amaya narrowed her eyes a little bit, still holding her wound a bit. "Hn...I don't wish to fight with you...please, let me pass..."
"Ah~. See I would but..." the young man grinned. "Ya know, I got distracted by that glamour ya got hanging around your throat, sweetheart...I wish I had somethin' like that...c'mon...hand it over. Don't you know sharing is caring...?" he asked cheekily.
"Sorry...but this isn't for me to give away...nor is it for sale...so please leave...!" Amaya spoke firmly, only to blink as she heard some snickers from around and watched as more thieves seem to work there way out of hiding spots. About 10 of them, surrounding her.
"Aww, now why you gotta be so rude, girlie...you flaunting that around must mean ya got tons of loot to just buy more right? So don't be stubborn and hand it over, ya know, before me and my boys get mad. And you don't wanna see us when we're mad!" he threatened.
