Father’s Lawrence’s grass green eyes shone with disapproval and he stood up, the willow branches brushing against the shoulders of his cassock. “That was a bit much, Fraulein.” He said with a no-nonsense tone, his expression no longer the easy gentle looks but now a stern unhappy eye. He had heard the nuns' use the term 'Bite your tongue' when the children used words or phrase that were purposefully rude or hurtful but as he expected obedience this was not his favored way.

“With me.” He ordered instead, which was his way of saying he was removing a child for discipline and that they were to fall to his side and follow him. Supposedly that would keep them from being teased and they would learn to take their punishment with humility. In reality all of the children knew what it meant if you were following so closely with such a down-trodden look.
