Those are actually not bad ideas. Still, perhaps if Clavell changes his ways, he won’t need as much punishment as the students may want. Miriam could see a good and kind soul; deep down. He’s just so focused on himself that it gets frustrating! So, Miriam kept up the pace. A good punishment will keep him in line, and now she has the confidence to repeat this if needed. Also, a little embarrassment never hurt anyone. “Yes, I am in charge now, and you are going to have a change of heart, are we clear? You will listen, and take my expert opinion to heart.
