A Cat Lost to the Realm

“Dude, I know you don’t want to be here! Everybody ends up here on accident. Just get used to it!” The wolf scolded her. She cringed, her ears drawing back, and tail tucking as the others had their pants pulled down. With rumps on full display, they started crying out as the paddles rained down on their hindquarters over and over. “As for sneaking, that’s the toll, imagine what it’ll be like if we’re punished by them…”

Mimi pouted at being scolded and crossed her arms over her chest. There had to be another way. Watching the others get paddled brought a small smile to her face, but she didn’t want that to be her anytime soon. She was a cat so sneaking around shouldn’t be too hard. “Hmm, nobody’s looking right now. I say we sneak on while they’re distracted, then they wouldn’t even know if we got paddled cause we’d all be getting off once we arrive.”

“You’re crazy! I don’t want to risk this getting worse!” The wolf shot back. However, as they were getting closer, she saw one of the guys with paddles step aside to tie his shoe. He left his stack of tickets on the little staircase to get in, too. The wolf looked down at Mimi, then back up at that, as if silently asking if they should actually go for it.

Mimi grinned as she saw the tickets and without a second thought, went to grab a few of them. Well that was easy, she just hoped nobody had seen her. “There you go,” she said. “See, now we can get on without our butts paying for it.”

“We still need to get past the guards!” The wolf reminded Mimi, looking around. The guy took his spot again, and both sides of the train car seemed guarded. She looked around quickly, before going back down to Mimi. “Any wise plans? I’ve got plans to get us on, they’re just not good. So, I need an idea now, or we’re just going to have to hope for the best!”

“Get past the guards? Won’t they just check our tickets too?” Mimi asked, not even sure why they’d need guards for a train. She’d never seen any guards around a train before, at least not any she could remember. “You said you had plans? How about you tell me a few of them and we can work from there.”

The wolf looked a bit overwhelmed, and was quick to suddenly shove forward. This resulted in a sudden dog pile, and a lot of chaos to ensue as others began wrestling and shoving at each other. She took this opportunity to grab Mimi up, and jump onto the train, running for a seat.

Inside, there was a lot of commotion too, but it wasn’t a riot. There were some who were crying and nursing their sore butts, others, comforting each other, some were blatantly messing with each other too. The wolf girl sat down, and plopped Mimi next to her, sitting across from a goat boy who was calmly sitting and looking out the window, and seemingly trying to ignore his underwear pulled over his horns.

Huh, well that was easy. Mimi grinned as they made their way on board and took a seat next to one of the other kids. She giggled at seeing him stuck in the wedgie before looking around the train at the others. Seemed most of the others hadn’t been able to get on without a sore bottom so she was thankful their plan had worked.

“So, why were we all brought here anyway?” Mimi asked as she swung her legs back and forth. “And are we ever going back home? I’m sure our parents are worried about us.” While she didn’t really care about leaving her parents as it meant no rules she had to follow, she was positive that back home they would be going crazy trying to find her. If she ever ended up back she was sure she’d be in a lot of trouble.

The wolf girl sighed, and looked back at her awkwardly. “First of all, I’m Shaj, nice to meet you,” she introduced herself, wanting to at least try to feel normal in this situation. “As for going home, I don’t think we are. Once you end up here, it seems like you’re here for a long time, if not forever.”

“Oh good, then I don’t have to worry about getting in trouble,” she said and looked out the window. “Why are we here anyway? Doesn’t seem like this place will be all that different from living at home. Also where are the adults? And the big kids? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone older than 13 here.”
