Chris shook his head at Rafe when the kid asked him if he would have to stab someone to get out of here, that actually sort of worrying him with Rafe's record since the kid sounded serious about it. "Dont even think about it kid, you will not like what happens to you if you try something like that" He warned, thinking that maybe he would pull Rafe out of his room for the first few nights at least so that Liam wouldn't get hurt and the boy wouldn't have a chance to sneak away. He would have to talk to the principal about it but for the moment he kept those thoughts to himself and just took the teen up to his room before having to capture the teen and bring him back to the bedroom that he'd just retreated from. He succeeded and even managed to collect his other charge, giving Liam a brief spanking and sending the teen to clean up his room then issued his orders to Rafe and giving the teen a time limit. He sighed when he heard the kids response, really getting sick of the way Rafe was acting and his patience was wearing thin. "You're your own worst enemy right now little man. I'm not looking to 'beat the holy hell' out of anyone and if you took two seconds to look you'd see that Liam's fine." He pointed out, sounding strained but not angry and then he turned his attention to Liam and gave the kid a hug as he thanked him for cleaning up before sending him on his way. That left him with his new charge and he looked over at Rafe to ask him if he was ready to get dressed now and he shook his head when the kid told him to leave him the hell alone. "Well too bad for you this isn't a prison, its a rehab facility" He pointed out as he crossed the room and grabbed the kid by his arm, hauling him up to his feet and then he propped his leg up on Rafe's desk chair to haul the kid over it, wrapping an arm around Rafe to hold the teen steady. "Alright, this can go two ways little man. You can apologize and get dressed so we can go down to the barn and feed your horse his breakfast, or I can take you pants down and spank you for being defiant." he said, wanting to give the kid one last chance to fix this in the hope that the position would get Rafe's attention and hopefully startle the boy out of his mood. If Rafe caved he let the boy up so that he could get dressed, if Rafe acted bratty again then he just pulled down the orange pants and the kids underwear and started swatting Rafe's backside with his hand, hard enough to make sure that he was leaving an impression on the teen but not so hard that he would actually hurt Rafe since that was the last thing he wanted to do when he was trying to build a relationship with the boy.

After asking his question about whether he would have to stab someone in order to get out of this place Rafe immediately looked at Chris when the man told him not to even think about it before going on to issue what Rafe of course took to be a threat. And considering the background he came from it definitely got his attention though likely not in the way that his handler was hoping for. His eyes wide he just sort of stared at Chris for a few moments before looking away, the kid fidgeting somewhat nervously but he was of course once again thinking that he was just going to end up getting beaten or worse. Rafe's hand absently went up to the scar that was hidden by his hair but he didn't realize that he did that and it wasn't the only scar that he had, the kid's torso had several very prominent ones. Not that the kid was thinking about these, all he was thinking about was escape but that didn't work out for him and he just ended up getting captured and returned to the room that he'd ran from, his single gray eye shifting to Chris when he made his accusation and the man told him that he was his own worst enemy. "You have no idea," the kid muttered, a haunted look in his eye for a moment before he banished that as well. It didn't matter to him just how many chances he was given to change his clothes the boy refused to do it, Rafe ignoring Chris and Liam, or at least trying to, however when he was given one last chance he just ended up snapping at the man again. His gaze flew to the man as Chris walked over and when the man grabbed him by the arm Rafe once again started struggling like a wild animal, the kid thrashing and trying to get away. It didn't work and he ended up finding himself pulled over the man's leg, Rafe yelping and once again trying to struggle free. "Let go of me damn you!" he snapped when he was told that it could go two ways, the teen not even really listening to the options that he was given. A startled gasp left the kid's lips when his pants and underwear were actually pulled down, the kid once again screeching, "You sick fuck!" It was of course the second time that he'd called the man that but his voice held a bit more conviction this time around, Rafe struggling and kicking his feet in desperation even if he was really too small to have a hope of getting away from the man. Admittedly the smacks that were delivered to his bottom hurt but Rafe was too startled and angry to pay much attention to that just yet but there was no doubt that as the sting grew the kid's attention to it was going to grow exponentially. "I don't know what sort of 'rehab facility' this is supposed to be but you people are even more messed up than I am!" Rafe snarled out, the small teen once again trying to kick Chris though the position he was in made that hard if not downright impossible.

Chris of course noticed the way that Rafe looked in response to his threat about not stabbing the other students and he of course felt like an ass for getting that sort of reaction from the kid since he knew that rafe had come from an abusive home and he shouldn't have said something like that. "Don't look so nervous kid, we're not going to hurt you here." he said reassuringly and then lead the teen inside so he could show him to his room. It ended up leading to a little fight with them but Chris managed to catch his new charge and bring him backto the room, pointing out to Rafe that he was his own worst enemy and giving the kid a strange look when Rafe told him that he had no idea but he didn't ask. They had a shrink on the payroll though and Chris was going to make Rafe go to that guy since it seemed like the kid needed that right now. He didn't bring it up though he just dealt with Liam and then sent the older boy on his way and when he was alone again with Rafe he tried one last attempt to get the kid to just cooperate with him but that didn't work and he ended up forced to punish the kid, which he really hadn't wanted to do but didn't think there was another option. So he pulled the kids pants and underwear down and sighed when the boy screeched that he was sick. "Don't worry little man, i don't like bratty little boys, I like women, voluptuous women" he said, his tone irritated since this was the second time the kid accused him of being sick and that just annoyed the hell out of him. After that he resumed spanking the brat and was a little frustrated when he didn't get a response out of the kid but he was patient and he didn't want to introduce an implement right away so he just continued bringing down hard smacks with his hand and settled down to what was likely going to be a long spanking. he glanced at Rafe when the teen snarled out that they were more messed up than he was and he shook his head, speaking even as he continued to smack his hand down firmly. "There's a big difference between abuse and a spanking rafe. Sure this hurts, but it's not going to actually harm you nor will I ever actually harm you. All this does is sting your butt so you have a reason to change your behavior in the future, because you just cant act the way you've been acting so far little man, it'll just end up with you becoming a criminal and get your ass tossed behind bars for the rest of your life. You don't deserve that, you were given a hard shot at life and I'm sorry about that, but now you're going to have a second chance and if I have to spank you to get you to settle and try to change for the better then I will" he said, sort of trying to let Rae know why he was doing this and why they used spankings as punishments here and he hoped that the kid would understand that Chris wasn't trying to hurt him and wasn't enjoying it he was just trying to help the boy. though he doubted Rafe would accept it this early in his time at Last Chance, but Chris knew that once the seed had been planted in the kids head he was likely to at least think about it and it might help Rafe accept it sooner or later. For now he just concentrated on giving the boy a thorough bottom warming, not planning on stopping until Rafe was crying openly and stopped fighting with him and he was fine with it being a long spanking if that was what it took since he was only using his hand and couldn't cause rafe any real harm with just his hand.

Rafe shook his head when Chris told him not to look so nervous and that they weren't going to hurt him here, the kid of course thinking that was a bold faced lie if he had ever heard one. The kid had serious trust issues of course and he wasn't about to take the man's word on anything, which was made obvious when he tried to escape once they were inside the room. That didn't work out so well and when he was captured and returned only to be told that he was his own worst enemy the kid told him that he didn't have any idea, Rafe not aware of the fact that he was going to be forced to see a shrink but that wasn't going to go over well since that had been forced on him right after he killed Keegan as well and he'd hated the man. Really the only good thing that had came out of that was the fact that he was also given an IQ test so it was confirmed that the little juvenile delinquent was actually a genius. Not that Rafe thought anything would ever come of his intelligence since he was seeing himself locked up for the rest of his life or else dead but it had been something that he'd wanted to know. It didn't take long for all of Rafe's protests and defiance to come back to bite him in a very unpleasant way, the kid screeching when he found himself pulled over Chris's leg and bared. "Uh huh, suuuure. That's what they all say," Rafe said when the man told him that he liked women, the kid resuming his struggles for freedom at that point. Of course the spanking hurt but Rafe refused to show that, the kid making his comment about all of them being more messed up than he was, the kid shaking his head when Chris told him that there was a big difference. Hearing the words that were being said to him only served to make him even angrier, Rafe shaking his head once the man was finished and saying, "You can't force someone to be the way that you want them to be. Ever stop to think that I may not care if I end up locked up forever? No of course not because you're projecting what you would want onto me." Rafe honestly didn't care whether or not he was locked up, as far as the kid was concerned he had fulfilled his purpose in life, having forfeited everything else to do that. "I did what I set out to do, I couldn't care less what happens now," the boy said quietly but with conviction in his voice, Rafe deciding that he was going to stop talking at this point. Not that he would have had much choice anyway since it was starting to get hard to fight back the noises of pain that wanted to escape his lips in response to the growing sting in his bottom, which was starting to gradually shift more toward a burn. Even so the stubborn teen managed to hold out for almost three minutes before he started making the first soft noises of distress and it was nearly five before the kid started to cry steadily though he had been sniffling and fighting back tears for awhile before that happened, it wasn't a sudden thing by any means. Still it made Rafe feel weak considering everything that he had seen his brother endure and the fact that he himself had endured having a knife taken to him on more than one occasion. Still this was somehow different and Rafe could only fight against it so much, the kid ceasing to fight against Chris at that point even if that wasn't a conscious decision on his part.

Chris wasn't out to make Rafe's life hard while he was here, he wanted to help the kid as best he could but Rafe was making that really hard for him. Even so he tried hard to give the teen chances to change his mind so that Rafe could safe himself from an embarrassing and painful wake up call but rafe really forced his hand in that aspect. So even though he really didn't want to he pulled the teen over his leg and then bared him, telling the boy he liked curvy women when the kid accused him of being sick and he rolled his eyes when rafe told him that was what they all said but decided not to bother getting into that with the kid instead he just started to spank the teenager and lecture him about why the school spanked him. He listened as Rafe argued that he was just forcing the kid to be what he wanted to be and he sort of admitted to himself that Rafe had a point there. "You should care, Rafe. You're only thirteen, you can still do a lot with your life." He said softly, thinking it was sad that the kid had no ambitions in his life, especially since his file said that he was a bona-fide genus. After that he ignored the kid and just continued to spank him, peppering the kids ass with firm smacks and he was sort of annoyed that it took nearly three minutes for the kid to start making sounds of distress but he just kept going and when the boy finally started to cry and stopped fighting him at the five minute marker and gave into it. He stopped at that point and put Rafe back on his own two feet, pulling the kid into a brief hug since he figured Rafe would accept it while he was upset like this but once the teen realized it he'd fight it so Chris wanted to do it now before the kid could resist. "It's alright now, Rafe, clean slate" he said, letting go of the teen and then picked up the uniform from the bed and pressed the clothes into Rafe's hand with an expectant look, waiting to see if Rafe would take the clothes from him and put them on or if they were going to once again fight about it before he would take the boy down to the barn and introduce him to the horse that he was going to be responsible for taking care of and exercising as therapy for both of them.

If he were a bit more rational then Rafe probably would have caved sooner and just put on the damn uniform since it was actually an improvement over what he was already wearing but at the same time doing so was admitting that he was really stuck here and that wasn't what Rafe wanted. While a lot of people would see it as an improvement it wasn't what Rafe wanted so he fought against it tooth and nail, which really only resulted in him finding himself over the man's leg with his pants and underwear around his knees. Rafe struggled against that, calling the man sick, and then going on to tell Chris that he was just trying to force the teen to be what he wanted. "I knew what I was giving up when I did what I did," Rafe said, even though that wasn't strictly speaking the truth since his crime had not been premeditated and had simply been a result of the boy snapping after holding his twin in his arms while the other boy bled to death from self inflicted wounds down both forearms. Still Rafe maintained that he had known he was forfeiting his own life and didn't care, the kid shaking his head when Chris said that he could do a lot with his life. "That's what you think," he stated, not caring that he had an IQ of 179, almost twice the average which was around 90. After that the man fell quiet and Rafe was forced to as well just so he could attempt to keep his yelps of pain quiet, which worked for him for awhile but there was only so much that he could hold out against and after about five minutes Rafe was crying steadily and hating himself for being weak like that. He was too upset to realize what was happening at first when he was helped back to his own feet and then pulled into a hug. Of course when he realized he scowled and moved back, the kid fixing his underwear and then taking the uniform that was pressed into his hands, Rafe shaking his head at the 'clean slate' thing. "You say that like I should care," he said in a somewhat strained voice since he hadn't managed to get his crying under control just yet. Rafe did however take the uniform and move to change his clothes, obviously not caring about modesty since the man had just seen his bare butt. It only took him about three minutes to change though he didn't tuck the shirt in, hoping that wasn't a requirement but if Chris pressed the issue then he would do it. As soon as he was dressed in the new uniform Rafe moved away from his handler and gave him a sort of wary look as he waited to see what was going to happen now.

Chris would have been happy if Rafe had caved sooner so that he wouldn't have to do this to him, but that wasn't what happened and Chris was determined to do the right thing by his boys so he went through with it and spanked the kid. While doing it he tried to impart a little wisdom on the angry boy and he sighed when Rafe told him that he knew what he was giving up when he did it since that was a sad outlook for any kid to have, especially one as smart and as young as Rafe. He didn't say anything about that though he just continued to deliver a thorough spanking and by the time he stopped Rafe's butt and upper legs were a bright red and the kid was crying. Chris sort of felt bad for the kid that his first spanking ahd been a long and harsh one like that but he reminded himself that it was Rafe's own fault and that helped him to not feel quite as bad about it. He put the kid back on his own feet and hugged him, not trying to stop the kid when Rafe pulled back he just watched as the kid redressed and then he pressed the uniform into Rafes hands with another sigh when he heard the kids strained words about caring if they had a clean slate. "Maybe someday you will, little man. I can be someone to rely on if you let me" he said, walking away from Rafe to go stand by the door as the teen changed and once Rafe was done he looked over at him and nodded, "Tuck your shirt in and we can go" he said, waiting for Rafe to do it and then he unlocked the door and gestured with hsi head for Rafe to come with him. "Alright lets go introduce you to Rebel. You know how to ride? Any experience with horses?" He asked as he lead the way through the building, pausing after each question to give Rafe a chance to answer if he were going to. When they got downstairs he headed right into the feed room and showed Rafe the labeled buckets and the wall chart that said what horse got what supplements in their food and how many scoops of grain they were supposed to get, and he watched as Rafe got that ready then he grabbed a few flakes of hay from one of the bales and lead the way down the stalls. THe stable was really nice and the stalls were all open on top except for metal safety blockers on the sides so the horses couldn't nip eachother and most of the horses were either munching at their breakfasts or were hanging their heads over the doors of their stalls looking at them with friendly interest. He ignored the other horses and lead the way to a stall near the back where the arena was located, and there was a buckskin paint gelding sticking his head over the door with his ears pricked towards them and looking very interested in the food they were carrying. The horse started pawing at the door as they got close and Chris chuckled, "Here you go you glutton, you act like you havent been fed in days" He said fondly to the horse as he dropped the hay over the door to let the horse start eating that while he gestured to where the attached feed bucket was located for the grain for Rafe to pour in. "This is Rebel and he's going to be your responsibility. You have to feed him twice a day and clean out his stall once a day, and you need to either ride him or turn him out, or both every day so he can get some exercise." He told the boy as he moved over so Rafe could get a good look at the horse who was sleek and healthy looking but when the horse turned to eat out of his bucket the thick scars on his rump became obvious. "All the horses here come from abusive or neglectful homes. Some ass hole got drunk and took Rebel out one day and hitched him up to a cart. He's not broke to drive though so he didn't know what to do and the guy kept whipping him until he snapped and kicked back. He ended up killing the guy, lucky hoof to the head, and animal control was going to have him euthanized but we intercepted him before it could happen. He's gentle as a puppy now, we put a lot of the new riders on him" he explained, thinking that maybe Rafe would relate to the horses story since it sounded slightly similiar to Rafe's situation where the boy had randomly snapped and attacked his abuser too, but Chris would have to wait and see how the boy responded to the story.

It would definitely been in Rafe's best interests to cave sooner than he did but the kid was stubborn and had always been a fighter even if he had been fighting in a different way so the thought of just giving in like that never crossed his mind. Even so there was only so much that he could hold out against and after five minutes of the hard smacks, which turned his pale skin a bright and painful looking red, the boy finally started crying steadily. As soon as he was guided back to a standing position and hugged Rafe pulled away and put some distance between them though this time when he was given the uniform he actually took it. The bit about having a clean slate caused Rafe to inform his handler of just how he felt about that and he rolled his eyes when the man suggested that he might care at some point. "Don't hold your breath, I doubt purple's your color. The only one I'm relying on is myself," Rafe told him, his voice adamant as he said that. He had only ever relied on one other person and he was gone now so from this point on Rafe wasn't intending to rely on anyone else, ever. It didn't take Rafe long to change into the uniform though he really didn't look happy when told to tuck his shirt in since that was something that he hadn't been required to do before and he hated that look. Even so the kid wasn't anxious to get himself into further trouble so he did that, his single gray eye shifting to Chris when the man said that they were going to go and meet Rebel. That caused the interested look to once again appear in his eye for the briefest of moments before Rafe banished it and just nodded, though he scoffed when he was asked if he had any experience with horses or had ever ridden. "No," he said shortly, sufficing that to answer both of the questions that he was asked and not really in a mood to chat with the guy that had just caused him so much grief. He followed the man and looked at the buckets and the chart that gave instructions for feeding the horses, the kid taking mental notes on that one but once again not saying anything. He looked a little more interested when they actually went out into the stable and it was clear that he was much more interested in the animals that he had been Chris or anyone else really, Rafe stopping to stroke the noses of a few of the horses that had stuck their heads over the stall doors to say hi. The kid didn't fall behind however and his gaze focused on Rebel when they reached his stall, the boy listening as Chris told him what he was going to be required to do and he could have easily refused but he didn't say anything. His attention was only partially on Chris though when he saw the scars that the horse had and heard what had happened he got a haunted look in his eye. Reaching out he gently stroked the horse's head, or at least that was what he did until Rebel became more interested in his food than in the kid. At that point Rafe moved to open the stall door, not asking for permission but figuring that if he was going to be responsible for the horse then no one was going to tell him that he couldn't, the kid moving close to the animal and resting his head on Rebel's neck, stroking his mane and murmuring quietly to him in Gaelic. Why he picked that language was anyone's guess, maybe it was so that Chris wouldn't be able to understand the soft words that he was speaking to the horse. But even so it would be obvious by tone that he had an affinity to animals that he just didn't have with people, Rafe liking them much more.

Chris sighed when Rafe told him not to hold his breath and he really wished that the kid would not be so difficult with him about this but he couldn't hold it against Rafe so he wasn't going to say anything to the boy about how it was sad that Rafe wouldn't let anyone else in. "Well maybe you'll change your mind sometime" HE said simply, going on to tell the boy that they were going to see his horse now and he realized that Rafe looked interested at that point and he asked the teen if he had experience with horses and wasn't the least bit surprised when teh boy told him no. "THat's alright, lots of kids don't when they come but the horses are patient and they wont mind if you're slow while you're learning" He said with a friendly grin as they walked through the building and towards the stables. "One of your classes will be on horsemanship, its taught by the stable master Joseph and until he clears you for riding alone you're not allowed on the horses except during class or when I'm there watching you. If I hear that you were or I catch you then you'll get in trouble and you'll be grounded off Rebel for a while" he said, hoping the kid would follow that rule since he could tell that Rafe actually liked the idea of interacting with the horses and he didn't want to take that away from the kid. When they got to the barn he showed Rafe how to mix Rebels grain and then lead the boy down to the horses stall and explained to him what the horse had gone through and of course he noticed the haunted look in Rafe's eyes but didn't say anything he just calmly closed the stall door behind the boy and watched as Rafe walked over to pet the horse and talk to him. Chris spoke about eight languages and Gaelic was one of them so he could understand what the boy was saying if he was close enough to the teen but right now he was too far away and Rafe was talking too quietly so he couldn't tell what the boy was saying but he wasn't really worried about it either. "C'mon, let him finish his breakfast and I'll show you how to take care of him" He said, waiting for Rafe to leave the horse and showed the boy how to make sure the stall was secure before he lead the way down the aisle again to the tack room located across from the feed room and went inside. All the horses stuff was organized in rows that were labeled so he lead the way over to Rebels things and grabbed the horses halter, lead rope, lunge line, and grooming bucket, handing the last one to Rafe and left the saddle and bridle here for now since he wasn't going to be the one to give Rafe his first few riding lessons. "Alright lets go" he said again, leading the way back down the aisle to where the horse was just finishing his grain. "We'll groom him, lunge him to get his legs stretched a bit, then turn him out so he can play with his friends. Each paddock is assigned to certain horses since they figured out which ones that they get along with so make sure you never put him out with the other horses or they may fight" He said, showing Rafe how to put the horses halter on and check that it wasn't too tight and then he lead the animal out of the stall and put him in crossties. After that he told Rafe step by step how to groom the horse, lunge him, and finally turn him out where Rebel immediately galloped off to play with the other gelding there. "Looks like he's happy" he said idly, looking down at Rafe afer speaking and waited to see if the kid would say anything back.

Rafe looked at Chris and rolled his eyes when the man suggested that he may change his mind at some point but that was something that he just didn't see happening. He opted not to say anything however and instead just put on his uniform and then followed his handler out of the house and toward the stables, confirming that he had never had any experience with horses or really any animals since that hadn't been something that he was exposed to. There had once been a puppy but it had met a very tragic end and after that Rafe had stuck to tending to strays but he never brought any of them home since he didn't want his bastard of a father, or sperm donor as the boy thought of him, to have anything else to use against him. He listened as Chris explained that he was going to have a class on learning about the horses and he looked interested but when Chris said that he wasn't allowed to ride without someone with him the kid scowled at that since he just didn't like being around people. "Thanks, you just ruined it for me," the boy muttered somewhat darkly, following along and thinking that this was just another thing that was going to be taken away from him. Which he had gotten used to but at the same time hadn't had to deal with in the last two years so adjusting to it again wasn't going to be pleasant or easy. Once they arrived at the barn Rafe actually paid attention as Chris showed him how to mix the grain and then he followed along to the horse's stall, the boy listening to what had happened to the horse and that caused a haunted look to appear briefly in his eye before he banished it. The teen ended up going into the stall and he spoke quietly to the animal, pressing his forehead against Rebel's shoulder and speaking to him in Gaelic as he stroked the animal's soft mane. He didn't particularly want to leave when Chris called for him to but after a moment he moved to leave the stall, following Chris to the tack room and then watching as the man grabbed all of the stuff, taking the bucket that he was given and then once again following along behind Chris. He was walking a bit stiffly but for the moment was behaving himself, the kid paying attention to what was being said even if he rarely offered up a response to the words but he was soaking it in and he was an amazingly fast learner. When it came time to turn the horse out into the paddock Rafe actually looked sad as he watched the horse gallop away but after a moment he just turned and started walking away, completely ignoring Chris when the man said that the horse looked happy. He was glad that the animal was happy but currently he was anything but, the peaceful look that he'd had before disappearing to be replaced by his seemingly ever present scowl.
