Naadiya was content that her children had been well behaved and drank their tea. She then gathered herself to tell her story, placing the cups aside for now to wash them later. She wasn´t really a great storyteller, but she had listened to the experienced storytellers on the market long enough that she thought she could handle a simple fairy tale. The woman took a deep breath and then began,"There once was a boy from a small village who had been cast out for a crime no one remembers. Maybe it was foolishness or actually something evil. As the villagers chased him away, throwing stones at him he promised to himself he would return and earn his place back. So he went to the great mountain to steal the elephant king with the white ivory tusks treasure which he would gift to the villagers..." She started speaking slowly, hoping the kids would like it.

Her two adopted children looked up at Naadiya with wide eyes as she told them the fairy tale. She might have been selling her storytelling abilities short. Or perhaps her children were just eager because it was her telling the story.

Once she was done, her children thanked her for the story. "Oh, Mama, stay here for a second," Alexios requested of her.

"We have a welcome home present for you," Maria exclaimed, practically bouncing in excitement.

Naadiya was satisfied with the story, since the kids seemed to really enjoy it. When she was finished it was evening and she wanted to get the dates she had promised and then lie down early. But before she could leave the two asked her to stay for a while longer. "What is it?", she asked, then learning they had a present for her. That made her happy, but also somewhat wary. What had they done now? She didn´t give them money usually, so how did they get a present? Hopefully it was something they had been GIVEN for free. Naadiya would really hate to have to punish them on her first day back.

"Wait here," they said, and disappeared back into Alexios' room for a minute. A little bit later, they came out, with her son holding something behind him. Going up to her with beaming grins, they said, "welcome home, Mama!" Alexios then showed her the bottle of special cactus wine that they had managed to, um, acquire.

Naadiya smiled as she saw the cactus wine, she didn´t drink often, but maybe it would help. The constant fighting was getting to her. But then she had a thought and suddenly felt stupid. "Where did you get this?", she asked calmly but with a bit of a stern undertone,"They don´t sell cactus wine to children! Its adults only." She stood up and crossed her arms, expecting an answer...and better fast.

Her children gave her the bottle, only to loose their smiles as they heard the undertone of sternness in their mother's tone. Looking at each other, they fought with their eyes over whom would spill the beans on this one.

Apparently loosing, Maria began to answer, "w-well, we got it from Mr Hadim, Mama." Hadim and Naadiya quarreled often in the market. They respected one another, but they could be some of the most ferocious hagglers in the caravanserai, each one having to (figuratively) fight tooth and nail over everything. It could be quite vexing at times.

At first Naadiya felt relieved a little. Hadim and she respected each other. Maybe this was his apology for their recent fight over prices. Naadiya had been very angry, as she hated haggling, espacially since she had to do it so often. But then she became suspicious. "Hadim wouldn´t just give you a bottle. I could be punished for this since it is illegal for kids to have alcohol, you know? You played some prank on him, didn´t you?", she asked, getting rather scary when she was angry. The women felt so empty inside. Had she failed as a mother when her kids did thinks like that? Maybe she had to spank them harder after all...perhaps it was all her fault and this was the aspects way of showing it to her.

"W-well, we just know how much trouble he always gives you at the market, Mama," Maria nervously began.

"So we decided to play a little prank on him! It's not like he hasn't got more of that stuff lying all around," Alexios continued, the twins giving each other worried glances. They had hoped Mama would be happy with them, not angry and disappointed!

"What exactly did you do? I want all the details!", Naadiya said furiously. Until now she hadn´t spanked hard, but she could really get mad when her children did something bad. And she suspected that this time they had really outdone themselves. Oh Hadim...she probably had to apologize to him. Which made her feel humiliated. Probably drag the kids along. This really wasn´t good.

"Um, w-well..." Maria gulped, wiggling in place.

"We... we kinda... took the cactus wine, Mama. And then we put some slurry in about the rest of it," Alexios admitted.

"Alexios made Hadim chase him after mooning him, and then I took care of the wine," Maria finished the explanation.
