Different Kind of Prison {for Jaden}

Ashley Graves was a successful businesswoman.

Key word being was.

While she was successful in her own right the woman ended up getting both too greedy and too ambitious for her own good. The result of that was corporate espionage and embezzling, which landed her in prison. That was certainly a culture shock to the woman, who had never been on the wrong side of the law before in her life. But the bigger shock was reserved for when it was time for her release, Ashley getting out much earlier than she had anticipated.

But there were conditions attached to this.

Conditions that she had certainly not been expecting.

Molly sighed as she drove to the correctional facility in her unmarked police car. The 24-year old usually drove a motorcycle and wasn't seen in uniform much outside of the precinct due to being able to blend well with the seedy areas of town. Not that she minded either way, she liked her job. As Molly pulled over to pick her mom up, she waited for her, thinking of how to deal with things.

Ashley had been young when she had her daughter so there was only 17 years separating them, the 41 year old surprised by the fact that she was nervous about her daughter coming to pick her up. "Oh this is ridiculous," she told herself as she made her way to the gate that lead out of the correctional facility, one of the guards walking beside her though she wasn't handcuffed or anything and she was dressed in normal clothes.

The only thing that set her apart was an anklet that she was wearing that would track her, a condition of her release.

Molly looked over at the guards that were leading Ashley to the pick up pont. She nodded to the guards, recognizing them from the times she brought in a few culprits. She waited patiently, pressing a button to open one of the doors so her mom could get in the car.

"Hello Molly," Ashley said casually as she got into the car, her blue eyes shifting to look at her daughter while at the same time she brushed back a lock of her strawberry blond hair. This was more than a bit weird but Ashley was attempting to play it off in the hopes that it would feel less weird if she didn't draw attention to the fact that her daughter was picking her up from a correctional facility.

"Hi." Molly said simply, beginning to drive off. She sighed inwardly and spoke after a few minutes. "Any particular reason you decided doing what you did was a smart idea? " She asked, turning down a hill into a decent-looking neighborhood.

Ashley had really hoped that her daughter wouldn't ask that question and she actually groaned in response to it. "It was a great idea...until I got caught," she said, not really feeling remorse for what she had done. Granted she felt sorry for herself because she had been caught but she still thought that what she had done had been a good idea and she should have just been more careful with how she did it.

Molly sighed at that. "Wonder if people will believe we're related or that you taught me better than that. What a turn of events. " She said, turning into the garage of her nicely-sized home.

"Well I always did tell you I wanted better for you than I had for myself," Ashley said in response to her daughter's words. When they arrived at Molly's house Ashley looked around, surveying her new surroundings. "It's a nice place."

"Part of a contest at the precinct, actually. I won a raw to receive the home for free. I just had to report bugs in the tech." Molly shrugged as she entered the living room. "But before I give you the tour, I think we should talk first." Molly added, suddenly siting down and pulling her mother over her knee, holding her firmly in place.
