Doctor Who - Through Time and Space (for RedDragon30000)

Beneath an amber sky and through silver-leaved woods wandered a young child of Gallifrey, lost after having run away from her carers. She was dying from a disease affecting her hearts and was nearing regeneration; her carers were trying to force her to regenerate, and she was afraid, so she ran as fast as her legs could carry her away from them.

The little Time Lady began to regret her decision to leave the warmth of the hospital. She began to weep as she found herself cold, tired, hungry, and in agonizing pain, without any medicine, food, or shelter in sight. She coughed and heaved and sat on a fallen tree as she struggled to breathe.

It was then that several golden lights began to illuminate the forest. There were rifts in time and space opening everywhere around the planet, though Androliss, the young Time Lady, hadn't known that at all. Once she'd caught her breath, Androliss rose from the fallen tree to investigate. She came upon one of these rifts, and tilted her head to the side, curious. It was a tall, thin, golden line, hung in the air upon nothing. She looked around it, then looked behind her, before she reached out to the light with a trembling hand.

The light enveloped her, and in an instant, she found herself in an alley, in a city, on an unfamiliar planet beneath a blue sky. The sudden shift in surroundings frightened Androliss, and she began to panic. She spun around, both hearts pounding and her chest aching, only to find the light was gone. She realized that was her only way back home.

Androliss lowered her head, her long, silken blonde locks slipping from her shoulders, as she turned a frightened, hazel-eyed gaze to her hands. The telltale golden glow of regeneration began in her pale fingertips, and she wheezed, then held her breath. She couldn't let this happen now, not here, not all alone so far from her carers. She wandered out of the alley with her hands over her hearts. It felt as if something were crushing her chest, and as she took in short, shallow breaths, she passed out and dropped to the ground outside a shop.

Androliss would later wake alone in a hospital room. The emergency care team discovered her double heartbeat and observed the glow of regeneration energy; they thought their patient to be an alien, so they contacted Torchwood. Captain Jack Harkness strode down the hall toward Androliss' room, and he dialed the Doctor's number. His heart was racing. This was exciting and new, and it meant the Doctor and the Master weren't the last of their kind.

The Doctor frowned as a phone on the TARDIS console began ringing. It was a long while she she had used it, and it usually meant trouble. Somewhat warily, she picked up the receiver.

"This is the Doctor."

When the Doctor answered his call, Jack looked in the hospital room. He frowned when he saw the Time Lady try to get up from her bed. "Hey, Doctor, it's been a while. Listen, I have a situation... a Time Lord situation. You're going to want to see this. I'm at the hospital in Cardiff. The one by the train station." Jack glanced at his watch. "It's June 11th, 2020, 9:39 PM." he figured he had to give the Doctor a time and date, not knowing that she'd been stuck in Cardiff, at the exact same time.

Androliss tried to pull herself to sit up, though she hadn't the strength to be up, so she fell back down. She breathed in shakily and looked down to her hands, then smoothed her hands over her hair; she hadn't regenerated, she hadn't changed... She was still as she knew herself.

Blinking at this startling information, the Doctor said shortly:

"I'll be there, keep an eye on things"

Hanging up the phone, the Doctor opened the doors and headed for the hospital. Bless Jack for trying to give her the year too, he was so thoughtful. Not that she needed that detail right now.

"I will, Doctor," Jack assured the Doctor; he felt confident that the girl was too weak to make a run for it. He slid into the girl's room and grinned. "Hi, I'm Captain Jack Harkness," he introduced himself, his voice soft. "It's okay. You're safe here. I have someone coming to help you. She's a friend of mine, and she's like you. She's from Gallifrey."

Androliss stared at Jack, confused and unsure what to make of him. He didn't seem threatening; she wasn't afraid of him, only this unfamiliar situation, but it calmed her some to hear that someone, especially someone from her home planet, was coming to help her.

"The quiet type, huh? That's okay." Jack planted his rear in the chair beside her bed. He hadn't wanted to overwhelm her with questions, as the bewildered look on her face made him think she hadn't any answers.

Fortunately, the TARDIS wasn't far from the hospital, and they wouldn't have to wait long. Jack let the front reception know the Doctor would be arriving soon.

The Doctor arrived at the hospital only fifteen minutes later. Coming up to the receptionist, she said:

"I'm Doctor Jane Smith, specialist from UNIT."

She held up her new UNIT ID.

"You have an...unusual patient here? Bring watched over by Captain Jack Harkness?"

[Nene]

The receptionist glanced from the Doctor to the UNIT ID, then back to the Doctor. "Hello, Doctor," she greeted softly and gave a subtle nod past the Doctor.

Another agent from UNIT came around the corner. They hadn't wanted to attract any unwanted attention to this unusual patient, so she would quietly escort the Doctor up to the patient's room. "This way Doctor, with me," she said softly and led the way to the elevator.

Androliss' fingers glowed with regeneration energy, and Jack stepped out of the room in case she couldn't stop her regeneration this time. There was nothing they could do to stop the regeneration; it was going to happen, and she wouldn't be able to hold off for much longer. Jack knew how explosive some of the Doctor's regenerations were and he hadn't known if it would be the same for this Time Lady. For the safety of herself and others, he wanted Androliss out of the hospital.

As the Doctor came around the corner, she stopped suddenly. Even without Jack being there, she could feel the regeneration energy, and it was strong too. Walking quickly up to Jack, the Doctor handed him a TARDIS key.

"My TARDIS is just outside the entrance, you'll have to get in there and demateralise. The old girl will know what to do from there, if we do this quickly enough, we can contain the energy in the TARDIS."

Jack looked up when the Doctor turned the corner with the other UNIT agent. "Oh, Doctor, boy, am I glad to see you," Jack breathed a sigh of relief when the Doctor came around the corner. He nodded in understanding and took the key. "Right, got it," He held the key firmly and sped to the stairs, as he thought he wouldn't have enough time for the elevator.

Androliss writhed under the blankets and let out a loud cry for help as the glow of regeneration grew. She was so frightened as she was quite ill and this was her first regeneration, out of three, in which she was fully alert, and she hadn't wanted to be alone.

Ignoring the regeneration energy lashing around her, the Doctor ordered the UNIT staff to stay back while she went into the room. Gently taking the young girl's hand, she saud:

"Hu there, I'm the Doctor. I'm like you, I've been through this. I will help you as much as I can."
