The police officer stood at the door and waited for someone to come and when the door was opened a crack he looked at him and asked about the car that had been in the accident. "Are you the owner of a Mercedes VIN number..." he asked in an official tone of voice, reading off the vehicle identification number and then looking at Adam as he waited for a response. "The vehicle was involved in an accident earlier and the teenage driver, a Riley Fox, taken to Mercy hospital," he went on to say, his tone still official since he wasn't quite sure what it was that he was dealing with. "If the car was stolen I will need you to come and file a report, the vehicle was not totaled but it is damaged," he added.

"Yes... I am," Adam said slowly. Listening to the officer's story, he felt angrier and angrier.
He shook his head. "Riley's... an acquantice of mine. He just 'borrowed' the car," Adam said and crossed his fingers behind his back when he said 'borrowed'.
"There's no need to file a report, I don't want to press any charges."
He shook his head slightly and looked back at the cop.
"Was there anything else?"

The police officer listened as the man said that the driver was an acquaintance that had borrowed the car and he nodded his head when told that he didn't wish to press charges. "No I believe that was all," he said when asked if there was anything else. "If you wish to visit your friend he was taken to Mercy Hospital, his injuries weren't life threatening I don't believe but he was pretty shaken up at the scene and not really responsive," the officer said before bidding the man a good day and leaving.

Adam thanked the police officer for the time, and closed the door behind him.
He couldn't believe what he'd just heard! But, the keys in his hand was a solid proof that Riley had stolen... borrowed... whatever, his car and wrecked it.
He was now in the hospital. Adam felt relief that his injuries weren't life threatening, but he was still royally pissed off.
'Unresponsive?', Adam thought angrily as he called for a cab to pick him up. "I'll give him something to be responsive about!"

Riley really wasn't coping well with what had happened but he didn't fight against the paramedics as they drove him to the hospital and he was more or less catatonic as they treated the head wound. Once that was cleaned and bandaged he was placed in a room where he could be watched since the doctors didn't entirely know what was going on with him or whether the head wound was affecting his behavior. "Can't believe that happened," the kid said mournfully, propped up in the hospital bed but not making any attempts to get up or really do anything. He had a headache right now but that seemed minor in comparison to everything else.

Grumbling to himself in displeasure throughout the whole drive to the hospital,
Adam went through the the doors and then straight to the desk where a nurse sat to ask for directions.
Nodding his thanks, he took the elevator to the right floor and went straight to Riley's room.
Stopping in front of the door, he tried to control his heavy breathing and then swung the door open, not caring about such pleasantries as knocking first.

Riley was sitting there on the bed and looking completely miserable when the door of his room suddenly swung open, his eyes automatically going in that direction and it was at this point that he froze, his eyes widening a bit in horror. "A-Adam..." he stuttered out, having never had a trouble articulating himself before but his mouth had gone dry and he was visibly shaken as he gazed at the man. "I-I'm re-really sorry...I ju-just w-w-wanted to take it...it for a d-drive," he said, trying to explain himself even though he knew that there was no explanation that was going to be good enough. His head started to throb at that point and he reached a hand up to touch the bandage but he didn't take his eyes off of Adam. "I-I unders-stand if you...if you h-hate me now," he choked out.

Adam listened in silence to the nervous blabber that his boyfriend spouted.
It was obvious that the boy was frightened, but he didn't feel like letting the boy off the hook just yet.
"In case you're wondering, you won't be charged for theft, I told the nice police officer that told me what happened that I didn't want to press any charges," he said through gritted teeth.
With eyes narrowed, clenched teeth and a deep frown, he knew that he must look rather homicidal, but for the moment he couldn't care less.

Riley looked at Adam when he said that he wasn't going to press charges and emphasized the fact that a police officer had came to let him know what had happened though honestly that was the least of his concerns. "If-if you're go-gonna hate me... I'd j-just as soon be-be in j-j-jail," he said softly, biting his bottom lip since he really just didn't like the thoughts that his boyfriend was going to hate him even though he was of course aware that he man had good cause to. He hadn't meant any harm but that didn't really change anything and he knew that what he had done was beyond wrong and he felt bad about it, a few tears appearing in his eyes though he refused to allow them to fall.

Adam shook his head in annoyance.
"Hate you? You know how I feel about lies.
Do you really think that I would lie to a cop to keep you out of jail, just to hate you?"
He sighed in frustration. "I honestly don't know what I'm the most angry with you for. What you just said, that you wrecked my car or didn't even have the common sense to wear a seatbelt. They're not for show you stupid child!"
