Go for Gold...not Red {for Arata}

Riley winced when he heard what Adam said but honestly he had been expecting screaming so he figured that he was getting off lightly all things considered. "I was just planning on driving a block or two...just wanted to see what it was like. Got carried away after that," Riley said in a subdued voice before looking at Adam as he said softly, "I'm s-sorry you had to lie for me." The teen had something of a mournful look in his amber eyes as he said that since he did realize that Adam hated lying and it was a big deal that he'd done it. "Y-you can...can slap me around if-if you w-wanna," he said quietly, figuring that might make the man feel better.

"Don't you dare tell me what to do!"
Adam sighed, and tried to control his temper. It was quickly getting out of his hands.
He sank down onto the floor and he just sat there for a while trying to get his thinking straight.
"I can't begin to tell you how angry and disappointed I am right know," he snarled. His voice adopting a softer tone as he glanced back at Riley's face. "But, I am glad that you're OK, kiddo."

Riley jumped at that and ducked his head slightly as he said, "W-wasn't tellin' ya to...just sayin' ya...ya could." His tone was soft and he once again ducked his head when he heard what Adam said about being angry with him since he knew that the man was furious with him and he couldn't blame him for that one. He did look up when the man said that he was glad he wasn't hurt and that surprised him since he hadn't expected that the man was going to care about that after what happened. "I'll sign my car over to you...not worth as much but...but you might be able to sell it to pay to have yours fixed," Riley said softly, trying desperately to make amends in the only way that he had.

"Don't want your stupid car," Adam muttered. Yes, his temper was slowly returning to normal, but still not quite and so he felt slightly cranky.
Riley's offer was a pretty nice gesture, but nothing he'd accept in his right mind, so why would he do it now?
It wouldn't change much anyway.

"Okay," Riley said when Adam snapped at him that he didn't want his car, the teen not sure what else he had to offer so he just decided that he wasn't going to talk anymore. Falling silent he stared ahead and looked at the wall though he looked over again when a doctor came in and said that he was cleared for discharge, the young man thanking him and sliding from the bed though he was a little bit dizzy and his head hurt so he wasn't entirely steady on his feet.

Riley turned to silence, apparently having nothing to say.
Well, to be frank, neither did he, and so they remained in that uncomfortable silence until a doctor came in to tell them, or rather Riley, that Riley could be checked out.
Watching Riley get out of his bed, slightly loosing his balance, Adam sighed and got back up on his feet.
"If there's a prize to be won for being the most troublesome boyfriend in the world history," Adam muttered to himself while grabbing Riley's arm in an attempt to steady him.

"I'm sorry," Riley said softly when he heard Adam's muttering, not exactly able to make out everything that the man was saying but he was pretty sure that it was grumbling and also pretty sure that it was about him. Which didn't really make him feel very happy but there was nothing he could do other than offer up another apology. He looked at Adam as the older man came over and steadied him, Riley looking at him in question for a moment before he said softly, "I'm okay, I just got up too fast or something." He didn't think that it was a big deal but he wasn't going to fight Adam if the man wanted to help, he simply didn't have it in him right now. So he just signed the discharge papers and then wondered how the hell he was getting home since he didn't have his car and he'd crashed Adam's so he didn't have one either.

He apologized to him. Again. Adam was getting sick of all the apologies.
Though, he figured that his gesture to help Riley earlier hadn't been enough for the boy to get the hint that Adam was willing to put it all behind them, or the fact that he didn't want to break things off.
What he'd told Riley a week ago had been true, he had no intention to let go.
'Hmm, since subtlety obviously doesn't work, perhaps I need to be more direct?,' Adam thought and then patted Riley on his shoulder.
When the boy turned to look at him, he reached out his hand in an offering.

Riley was still a bit distraught so he didn't quite catch the meaning of Adam's words though he was going to be kicking himself for that oversight later one. He felt the tap to his shoulder and so he looked around at him, his amber eyes sort of confused though when Adam held out his hand the younger male took it without hesitation, still feeling really bad about what had happened but he was starting to get the feeling that maybe it wasn't as flat out terrible as he'd been thinking. "You don't...hate me do you?" he asked quietly, just needing to reassure himself of that fact since it really would destroy him, he knew that now. He'd gone too far to go back at this point, he'd made a commitment and moreover he had found someone that he genuinely wanted to make happy...and that made him happy.

Adam shook his head in a negative, and for the first time since he'd arrived to the hospital, smiled slightly.
"No, I don't," he stated simpy. "I wouldn't want to have you around if I did."
Tentatively, he leaned in to give Riley a soft peck at the corner of his mouth.
It was purely symbolic; it was the kind of kiss he'd given Riley for the first time in an attempt to get the boy to understand how he felt.
