Natalie laughed with delight as Samantha kissed her cheeks multiple times.

Ariana nodded. "You're old enough to get your own Pokemon. You can either do two things: catch your own Pokemon or get a starter Pokemon in Pallet Town."

Samantha looked up at her mother. "What do you think I should do Mommy? Pallet Town is pretty far away, but wouldn't it be hard to catch a Pokemon without one first?"

Most of her experience came from various stories and games and things, so as much as it excited her to be going on a long trip like this, her youthful inexperience was outshone only by her excitement to go on the adventure.

"We could always catch the train to Pallet Town," Natalie responded. "It's about an hour ride there."

"Or," Ariana began, "I could catch a Pokemon for you."

Samantha looked down and thought about it. She really wanted to catch a Pokemon, but it'd also make more sense to take a trip to Pallet Town, especially since that's where most new trainers started.

"Um... I'm not really sure. Do you think the Pokemon would listen to me if you caught it? I've heard Professor Oak is a nice man, so maybe it would be a better idea to go visit him... though it's kinda out of the way."

And then an idea hit her.

"Hey, you said you were from Pallet Town, didn't you? We could go see your family while we did that! You said you hadn't seen your mommy and daddy in a while, right?"

Ariana nodded. "That's right, I am. And that's true, I haven't." She smiled. "I'm sure my family would love to meet you."

"Then it's settled," Natalie said. "We'll go to Pallet Town."

Samantha smiled, very pleased with herself for how things went. "Yaaaaaay!" she cheered, giving her mommy a hug again. "I'm gonna have a great big breakfast and get all my stuff together and we're gonna go on an adventure and it's gonna be great!" she said bouncing in place. This was a big day for her, and she really was super duper excited that she got to get a Pokemon of her own.

She had only turned 10 not that long ago, and as had been pointed out she was still pretty young in a lot of ways, but this felt like a true sign of her becoming a big girl who could take care of her self! Or at least, that's what she wanted it to mean.

Natalie kissed her cheek and then placed Samantha down in her chair. "Now come, eat up. You don't want it going cold."

"Thanks for the breakfast," Ariana said before tucking into it.

Samantha smiled as she was placed in her chair, and put Cotton down next to her chair so he wouldn't get messy. She happily dug in to her meal, downing the eggs and bacon as she prepared for her big day. She had so many dreams of becoming a Pokemon Trainer when she was growing up, and now she got to be one! Well, at least once the train trip was over.

She was already thinking about what she should wear and what she should pack so she could make a good impression with Professor Oak and Ariana's family. Should she wear a hat or a bandana or something cool like that? Go with a pony tail or just let her hair down? Maybe even get a cute pin to go with her top!

The girl wolfed down her breakfast, just itching to get started. Today was going to be amazing!

Natalie watched Samantha, eating her own breakfast.

She was a bit nervous about this Pokemon journey and how well Samantha would be able to cope on it. After all, there were only luxuries when you got to a town, city or village - most of the time on a journey was spent in the wild.

About hundred and one things could happen out in the wild - but if there was any real danger, the age requirement to become a Pokemon Trainer would much higher than ten.

Natalie supposed it would be easy to get used to having no luxuries; it'd teach Samantha a good lesson about life, too.

Ariana pretty much wolfed her breakfast down, too. She was excited to be seeing her family again! She couldn't wait to see the looks on their faces when she turned up, especially since it was a surprise.

Samantha finished up her meal happily. "That was really yummy Mommy! Can I go get ready now?" She bounced in her chair, looking up at her mother. "I'll take a shower and brush my teeth and everything!"

The Pidgey clock chirped 9:00am, and the train came in like clockwork. It was a little later than usual for breakfast, but it was a Saturday so their sleeping in was not a problem - at least not if she were planning to go to school. Sam didn't exactly know how one explained to her teacher and friends that she was going to start on a Pokemon Adventure, but that would come in it's own time.

And then something else crossed her mind.

"Um, we're still going by the Poke Mart today, right? So I can apologize for yesterday..."
