A hacker’s comeuppance (for Fenrir13)

Kairi rubbed her eyes and tried to forget the dream as she always claimed it was passed her. She reached a hand back to rub her rear and found it still burned but it felt a little better than it had before her rest. When Carla walked into her room she would quickly move the blankets over her body a bit more and gave a small nod at the first question. “I’m feeling a little better,” she admitted. “What’s a Captain Corporate?” The teen hadn’t really watched tv at all throughout her life so she wasn’t too familiar with anything that was on, whether that be old shows or recent shows.

"Good.", Carla said compassionately and came closer. "May I sit on your bed? Otherwise I´ll just sit on the floor...", she asked politely and then set the console down. "Captain Corporate is a superhero show. I like the action, but the plots can be dumb. Its really popular, they are making the third movie right now. Dad hates it because it portrays big business as the good guys. I don´t really get it, because they write his pay checks. But he says I am too young and not on a good enough school to understand...", she mused, getting a bit more serious before smiling gently again. "What do you want to play? I have mostly PG 6 or 12 stuff, since mum is against me owning shooters and such. So a lot of racing games, since I really want to ride one of those sweet cop cars my dad has at the station, also Pokemon and other J rpgs.", she explained. Being a cop was one of the fastest ways to get a good car for people on their income level.

Kairi moved over a little so she could sit on the bed before listening to what she was saying. She hated to admit that she sorta agreed with him about it being wrong for showing big businesses as the good guys, but she didn’t say anything about it and simply continued to listen. She didn’t really know what to play and looked through the games Carla had before picking one up. “How about this?” she asked as she held one up. It was a four player game but didn’t exactly need four players to play it. It was also a racing game which Kairi figured would be easy to learn and play.

Carla was a bit naive, which wasn´t helped by the fact that she was eleven, went on a fairly bad school with no prospect of getting a scholarship because her grades were only well above average. You needed really good scores to get such a sweet contract and reach higher education. But her father was old enough to remember tales of his father and grandfather about the world which wasn´t chocked by the corporate stranglehold. Today people were more and more forgetting that and the corporations gained more and more power, investing in propaganda like Captain Corporate and fake charity to increase their influence. The world was more and more turning into a real dystopia and people like Bill and his family struggled to make a decent living. Often times in his sleep Bill had struggled with the question whether he should have a child in this world at all. But he figured that living in a fucked up world with little prospect of happiness was still better than no life at all...and if she got lucky and worked hard she might still make it. Haha. At least that what THEY wanted him to think!
Anyway, Carla still thought she had a decent existance, and she loved her parents dearly. As long as she didn´t have to go to school and could watch trideo and play games all day she was content. And hey, maybe, maybe she even made a new friend!
Carla sat down on the bed and nodded when Kairi selected a Mario Kart style party racer. "Oh yeah, that is a good one. Slot it in.", she said with a smile.

Kairi gave a gentle nod and placed the game in before taking hold of her controller. She blushed a little as she scooted closer to Carla before the game started. “Sooooooo, gonna teach me how to play or do you prefer to kick my ass and then teach me?” she asked lightly, waiting for the screen to light up.

Carla smiled as Kairi came closer, not minding the closeness at all. "I am going to teach you how to play. Figure you had your ass kicked enough for one day. Sorry...but you walked right into that one.", she said and gently poked Kairis side as she gently teased her. She then explained the controls and talked a bit about game tactics. "Okay. I think you´ll get it now. Let´s select a simple track for the beginning.", the preteen explained and chose a track for beginners.

Kairi pouted a little at the teasing remark before paying attention to everything the younger girl said. When they were ready to play she watched her select a track and moved to select a character before they started. “Now, I know you just taught me a lot, and I’m new to the game, but don’t go easy on me okay?”

Carla felt bad for the quip when Kairi pouted. Maybe she shouldn't have made fun of the spanking. But at least she wasn't mad, which would have been worse. "Okay", the girl said and then played using all her skill but without concentrating like her life or at least victory depended on it. In the end she still made first place. "Nice", the preteen said and waited for the Hacker to finish, wondering if she would beat all of the AI. "Maybe you could hack the game and cheat with your technical skills.", she jokingly suggested.

Kairi grew a little frustrated as she was lagging behind most of the AI, but she was still determined to come in second place. When it looked like she might lose she heard Carla’s suggestion and took her eyes off of the game. “You act like hacking is some sort of superpower,” she told her, her tone a little harsh. “I’d need to use a computer to hack the game and by that time I’d already lose. Besides, I’m not wasting skills on a children’s racing game.”

"I was just joking. Besides, you need to get your head in the game. Don´t let the AI beat you!", Carla said, still smiling, and pointed at the screen when Kairi wasn´t paying attention and almost crashed her car.
