It seemed silent as the wind rustled through the leaves in the forest. A tall mansion was the only building in a wide radius of land, the nearest town was nowhere in sight, it would take time to travel anywhere civilized. The mansion had a strange look about it, old but alive. The walls were paved with grey stone, the roof had a dark grey tone. It seemed somewhat gloom, but the plants and gardens around the mansion brightened it with different kinds of flowers in several colors. Not too bright, but just enough to make the difference. The area around the mansion was covered with grass and paths paved with stones.

The tall, heavy oaken doors of the mansion opened, and a man in his late 30's walked out. He wore a black suit, leather boots and a heavy cloak on his back. His jawline was covered with a trimmed beard and his black hair was pulled back, tied into a small ponytail. He had a serious look on his face, as he looked around the grounds, waiting for something. He let out an impatient sigh, hinted with annoyance as he despised delays. Especially concerning his plans.

He focused his stare down a road leading away from the mansion, and kept it locked there, growing more impatient with each passing moment.

Brooke sighed as she pushed her black hair out of her grey eyes, she looked up at the huge mansion in the distance as she wondered if she was doing the right thing by going there but she knew that she needed help with her powers because she always exhausted herself by having to focus all of her magical energy on one small task, not to mention her outbursts of magic which had caused her parents to abandon her, she closed her eyes and tried to focus all of her magical energy on getting to the mansion, she felt herself fall on soft grass a few seconds later before she pushed herself up and looked around

The man glanced sideways from the corner of his eyes and turned to what had gotten his attention. He noticed a young girl with black hair at the grass of the mansion and headed over near gracefully. He cleared his throat and crossed his arms, eyeing the girl which had arrived to get her attention. His look showed he was the least bit pleased.

Brooke quickly turned around and looked up at the man standing in front of her, she was exhausted from having to use up so much of her magic just to get there and wasn't in a very good mood "What?" Brooke snapped annoyed as she narrowed her grey eyes

The man narrowed his eyes at her response to him and said in a deep voice "Watch that attitude. You do not snap at me. For as far as your 'what' .. you are late." He continued to eye her thinking. "Do you even know where you are and who I am child?" he then asked her wondering.

Brooke glared at him as he mentioned that she was late "It's not my fault that I had to come to the middle of nowhere!" Brooke replied defensively as she crossed her arms "I know why i'm here" Brooke answered before she looked around "But as for your other two questions, no" Brooke answered slightly embarassed

"It is in the middle of nowhere for good reason." the man simply said before continuing. "And I am Alakai Salar, your master. You are as of today under my legal care, as I am your legal guardian, teacher, caretaker and.. " he leaned closer to the girl before saying " - disciplinarian."
When standing back up straight he looked around in case there were any new arrivals, when seeing there were none he looked back at the girl. "Is it clear to you now who you are talking to, if that is what you can call talking." he asked with a glare, irritated by the girls hostility.

Brooke's eyes widened as she listened to him explain, she hadn't known that when she came that he would become her legal guardian, it didn't bother her as her real parents had abandoned her but it was a lot to take in and understand, she yawned but it wasn't because he was boring her, it was because she had used so much of her magical energy to get there, she quickly nodded as an answer to his question

Alakai seemed to examine her and his face softened somewhat. He placed a hand on Brooke's shoulder and then asked "Are you tired child? What caused this? Come, let us go inside and get you settled. I am sure you would like food and something to drink." He seemed to have gone from hard and cold, to caring and concerned over her well being.

While the two were standing htere chatting, nearby a cloaked figure blinked into view. Kept close to him, hidden by the cloak, was a young girl, who huddled close to the older mage

The mage quickly looks around as he proceeds down the road to the gate of the large mansion. The girl peeks out from the cloak, showing a head of reddish-brown hair and emerald eyes. She looked up at the mansion in slight wonder, then looks up at the mage in confusion. The mage gave the girl a soft, reassuring look, and then tapped the bars of the gate
