Ciri felt herself being shifted, and then, suddenly, was completely immobile as she felt his leg pin hers down. With her free hand pinned to the small of her back now, there was nothing she could do but lie there and take it, as the spanking grew worse and worse with every second. Her position meant that she was very much aware of every single word he spoke, and she nodded her head eagerly, promising almost anything at this point.
"I promise! I promise! Oooowww!", she screamed "I'll be good, promiiiisssse!", she tried again, as the spanking continued, and now without even the very small relief of being able to kick and squirm. That meant the spanking was felt even more, and she tried oh so very hard to be brave, but was completely unable to, at the end. The spanks went on and on and on and on like some horrible version of the Duracell-bunny, and she soon felt the dam break, before her conscious mind disappeared and left only a screaming, bawling, sobbing mess of a little girl whose only priority right now was being back in her parent's good book.
"WAAHAAHAHAUUUUAAAPWOMIIISSSGOOOOODDDDBEGOOOODNOOL AAAATE!", she screamed at the top of her lungs as she finally went limp over his lap

All the pleading and promises do very little to save Ciri from her current predicament. And even though he makes sure not to spank too hard, it's certainly a long one, slowly building up the heat until the poor girl can't really hold it back any longer. At some point, she stops struggling and just gives up, butt thoroughly roasted, lesson learned. After a few more slaps, he stops to give her some time to recover, before picking her up and pulling the girl into a hug.
"Alright, we're done now...no rubbing your ass. Calm down a bit, and then it's cornertime for you." And even though he sounds stern, he moves Ciri gently and will hold her for as long as she needs, until she's ready to let go by herself. "And do try to keep the time better in future, alright? It's pretty important, not just for me, but in general." He speaks a lot softer now, so the well spanked girl understand that with her punishment done, there's no hard feelings and he's not angry with her. The cornertime, though, she won't be avoiding...

It took a while for Ciri to realize that it was over. For many long moments, she hung limply over his knees and cried her eyes out, before she felt herself being lifted, and his strong arms around her. She reciprocated by throwing her arms around him too and hugging him tightly, even as she jumped a little doing so, somehow managing to combine the spanking dance with the hug she so desperately needed.
Ciri didn't understand what this "cornertime" means, but right now she'd promise him anything, so she nodded eagerly again, also to the point about keeping time. She promised herself that she would never, ever, be late for anything ever again! Especially not curfew. When her desperate wailing had turned to hiccups and sniffles, and she broke the embrace, she found herself guided towards a corner of the room, and while she of course followed without question, she was a bit confused as to what was going on. Standing in the corner with her butt exposed still, she fidgeted, trying to figure out what the point of this was, and how embarasing it was to stand there with her butt on display. She didn't know how long she'd stood there looking at the wall, fidgeting, but not rubbing even though it took a gargantuan effort not to.
But finally, he called her out, and she sprinted over and hugged him closely
"I...I'm sorry", she said. "I...I'll...I'll never be late again", she promised, later realizing that's likely a promise she wouldn't be able to completely keep, but for now, all she wanted to do was be back in his good graces.

When all's done and Ciri delivered to her cornertime, Daniel starts on the dinner. Well, starts reheating it, ocasionaly checking on Ciri whether she really just stands there staring at the wall. But she does have enough sense not to get in more trouble right now. Of course she can't help the fidgeting, that's to be expected. The dinner takes around twenty minutes or so to get ready again.
"Alright, come here, you delinquent..." He calls her finally, and of course, she runs for another hug, needing some comfort after her ordeal. He's happy to provide and dry off her tears. "Yeah, yeah, heard that one before." Daniel grins, holding the sobbing girl.
"It's okay, Ciri, I don't mind if you're couple minutes late. Anyway, You'll get a phone of your own soon, when you're ready for it, and that should help you keep time a bit." Also, take away any excuse about forgetting what the time is, so next time, she won't be avoiding the spoon. "Come on, let's have a dinner, alright? You can get a pillow if you want." He made sure Ciri will need it for any sort of sitting for a day or two. It's something she should get used to, if she's planning to get in mischief with local kids. And knowing her, that's almost completely inevitable. When she finally calms down enough to let go, Daniel sets up the dinner.
"Oh and the girl from which you got the clothes will be visiting us next week, she'd love to come and visit you. You can play some games and so on." Daniel says, when they finally get around to dinner. "So make sure you behave, so you can sit when she's here. And afterwards." Daniel winks at hear, teasing the girl slightly. While there may be no hard feelings after her punishment, there will be some teasing from time to time. Comes with the territory.

"Cornertime" took like...LITERALLY forever, it felt to Ciri! Almost as if all she'd ever known was this view of the corner, and the flaming pain in her backside. When she, at last, was called out and ran into his arms, it felt like relief unmatched by anything. She didn't notice him shrugging off her promise, and wouldn't have been offended if she had. He had, after all, just punished her for actually being late. It made sense that he'd see it before he believed it.
When he promised her a phone to help her keep time, she smiled and nodded gratefully, though she was confused. How could a phone - which, she'd learned by now, was for more than speaking through - also tell time in addition to everything else it did?
"That contraption sounds *hiccup* great", she sniffled with a chuckle. "It...it allows you to talk to people over great distances...it can also show images...can it also clean my room?", she looked up at him grinning slightly, her face still red and puffy, but she was starting to come back to her old self now.
She let go, and though she blushed red at the mention of the pillow, and the very slight teasing about behaving so she could sit down when the girl she'd borrowed clothes from would come over, she did sit down carefully, wincing, as even though the pillow helped a lot, it still hurt quite a bit to sit. She went into her dinner eagerly, however. A long day of pla...sorry, dear reader: "Hanging out"...had made her really hungry.
"This is good!", she praised the cooking, and it wasn't empty words to try to get back on his good side. She knew from the way he'd held her, and comforted her, that she had already achieved that.
"Tell me more about her", she asked him. "What's she like?"
When dinner was over, and they'd cleaned up, Ciri decided that she wanted to spend as little time as possible sitting down, so she instead went to get her book, and lay down on the couch in the living room. She had passed the "I want to be alone in my room"-stage, and entered the "I don't want to be alone in my room"-stage. She liked listening to him in the background doing whatever it was he was doing, while she followed the adventure of Frodo Baggins. She had to admit that in some areas, this particular narrative was much too detailed and drawn out.
She became quiet for a moment, then looked straight ahead. She should tell him. He deserved to know at this point. He took care of her as a father would. As Geralt did. He deserved to know. She cleared her throat and called his name. She didn't sit up, or stand. She was comfy. Or...well...as comfy as she could be, with a sore bottom. So she remained on the couch on her stomach, then looked at him.
"There's...there's something I haven't told you", she said, somewhat embarrassed. "I...I haven't been completely honest with you.", and now she looked a bit ashamed, but forced herself to go on: "When we met in the forest, I told you my name. Ciri. But...that's...not my real name. That's what I'm called. The short form of my name. My real name", she began, then paused, "is Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon", she said solemnly. I...I was afraid at first. And...then later...I was...I felt bad for having kept it from you, but...you deserve to know", she finished quietly.

Clearly, the dinner's uncomfortable for Ciri, so mission successful there. When she asks about the girl, he leans back and looks at the ceiling for a while, thinking. There's a lot he could tell, but most of it not really necessary.
"I've known her since she was like...seven, eight, maybe? Gods, it's been a long time. She was the first who found to courage to come up and ask me to teach her how to make a knife. So I did. Kinda helped me get accepted here, even though I'm a newcomer." After fifteen years, he's still a 'newcomer' and if he ever has kids, they'll still be newcomers in the eyes of people who lived here for generations. "Now she lives in the city, studies technology and comes to our shows once in a while. She was too smart for this place, grown bored with it much sooner than others. She liked to steal small things and then leave them on the doorstep, taunting people. Had almost miraculous skills in getting out of trouble." He continues with some other minor anecdotes collected over fifteen years of watching the girl grow up and ocassionaly providing asylum when her fast talking wasn't enough and she needed to lay low for a couple hours, until tempers cooled and people stopped threatening violence. Which is how he obtained the cool uncle status, and to this day, she provides tech support when needed. Computers don't react well to hammers, unfortunately, but she seems to have a way with them.
When the dinners over and cleaned up, and Ciri chills out on the sofa, Daniel gets back to some light work around the house, more to keep himself occupied rather than it being necessary. It makes for a nice evening, it turns out. A pity he had punish her before, but looks like she's forgiven him. He hangs about, until Ciri calls him again, and clearly wants to talk about something awkward. But it turns out to be just her name. Which he already knew...and now he needs to act as if he didn't.
"I see. Thank you for trusting me so." He bows slightly. There's a number of books where she could read her own name around the house, hopefully well hidden now. Is this the name he has to call out when she's in trouble? The whole deal? Well, at least she'll know. While he never really stated his full name, it is written on the doorbell and on the shop sign, stating Daniel Jezek - Blacksmith, so it's hardly a secret worth divulging under such circumstances.
"I appreciate you telling me." Must have been difficult for her. And even now, he would absolutely love to find something about her that doesn't fit the story, so he doesn't need to wrap his head around it. But it all fits. After a week, there are still no missing persons with her description...it freaks him out.

Ciri listened with interest to his story about the stranger whose clothes she'd worn, but never known, and giggled at his examples of her hijinkses. When he mentioned how she was also a master at getting out of trouble, Ciri got a mischievous look in her eyes and nodded exitedly. Now she was even more looking forward to the girl's visit. She seemed someone she could learn a lot about this world and this village from, if she found a way to ask without giving away that something was not quite right with her. The cover story should help with that. But if this girl was as bright as Daniel said, then it was likely that she would be able to spot any holes in the story. Of course she wasn't likely to jump to the REAL conclusion, but if she was as smart as he said, she'd know something was wrong. That was the one part about this thing that Ciri did not like, and which floated in the back of her mind like a jittery spirit around its tombstone.
__________
When he thanked her for telling him, she smiled affectionately. "At this point I feel I owed it to you", she said. "And I trust you. So you should know. I'm the heir to the throne of Cintra, so many people are looking for me. Or...were, I guess", she chuckled, "which is why I didn't tell you at first. I didn't know who you were.", she finished. In fact, it had been difficult to tell him now, but not because she didn't trust him. Simply because she felt bad for not having trusted him at first. She got up and hugged him again. Seems she got clingy after a spanking.
"Sorry for not having told you sooner", she said quietly. "I was afraid. I didn't know where I was, or where you were. You might have been one of those trying to find me", she pointed out finally and relaxed against him.

Well, in her position, he wouldn't be shouting out his real identity to world either, so he fully understands why she didn't want to tell him. If she was still in her own world, there's a good chance whoever she met would sell her out. Even in this world, she could have run into a very difficult situation.
"Yes, of course. I understand completely, it was wise not tell me." After a while, he chills out on the sofa next to Ciri, relaxing after a long day. "Anyway, let's play something, eh?" He finds something they can play together even with Ciri laying on her belly, as he has no intention of making her sit.
The evening, despite earlier drama, is pleasant, and this time, Daniel turns a blind eye to the clock saying Ciri should have been in bed long time ago, just making sure to act surprised when it stops being believable he just didn't notice the clock.
"You should have been in bed long ago, come on, off to bed with you." Convenient lack of clock in the game being a good excuse for slightly prolonging the good times.
________________________________
His letting Ciri stay up longer actually had a different reason than just hanging out with her - pleasant as it is, he needs to leave the house early in the morning, and doesn't feel like explaining why he can't take Ciri with him. So he just prepares a breakfast for her and leaves it on the table with a note he had to leave to run some errands, but will be back in a few hours. With that, he leaves the house, leaving Ciri in charge, once she wakes up. Not a care in the world, also, not realizing he wasn't as thorough in hiding evidence of Witcher existence as he thought he was...

Ciri, for her part, didn't note the passing of time at all when the game started. She was too busy fighting the dragons and saving Daniel's ass
How ironic, Geralt-of-her-mind said, and she couldn't help but blush a bit for seemingly no reason, though she tried to pretend nothing was wrong.
She did notice, however, when the light outside changed. Even darkness has shades, and she noticed very keenly the darkness turning darker than when she'd normally get sent to bed. Not that she was about to say anything. If he didn't notice, neither would she inform him. No kid likes being sent to bed, and Ciri was no exception.
Though when he did tell her to go to bed, she did so without complaint. She wasn't about to make an isssue of it, now that she'd been allowed to stay up substantially longer - given the shade of darkness - than she'd normally be.
The next morning, Ciri woke, and was immediately aware that the house was eerily quiet. Why was that? She got out of bed, winced a little as she sat up, as the last vestiges of the sting of yesterday's "conversation" was still slightly present. It wasn't unendurable as it had been last night, obviously. But neither had it gone completely. She quickly got up and headed for the shower, then changed into a casual dress, and headed downstairs to see what he was doing. Following her instinct - not her sixth sense, but her actual instinct to eat - she headed for the kitchen, and there found breakfast prepared for her, and a note. She read it, frowned, and then carefully sat down to eat breakfast. Still using the pillow. She didn't like being kept in the dark, but she couldn't do anything about it. She decided to give him what would be called "the third degree" if she'd had known the phrase. As things stood, she just decided to stay in for a bit and maybe get some reading done until she could be reasonably sure that Renata was free to pl...hang out. For some reason she felt like leaving Mr. Baggins to his own devices this day, and wanted to try something else.
So once she'd cleaned up after her breakfast, she headed into the living room to see what else he might have that might be good to read. She went through his bookshelf, many of the books incomprehensible to her, referencing names and places she didn't know, and she disregarded those. Obviously, The Fellowship of the Ring did so too, but to Ciri that was different. That was a made-up world. These books took place in this world, and thus, would just underline how out of touch she was.
As she put the book she was holding back, she saw another book hidden behind it. She grinned mischievously. So he didn't want her to find this book? Well, then....she'd show him! She took it out. Stared at it wide-eyed. Then dropped it as if it had been white hot, as she felt blood rush away from her face.
It wasn't its title that had so shocked her. " The Last Wish". It was the image on the front page. She'd learned quickly that this world liked including artwork in its storybooks, if nowhere else then on the front page, and she didn't mind that. It helped her visualize. But this.....this was....this was impossible.
THAT was clearly a medallion. If not Geralt's, then most certainly the medallion of a witcher of the School of the Wolf.
But how could this be? There were no witchers here?
Her mind raced at a thousand miles a second, before her precocious mind worked out it. This was a book. And not a history book like some others she'd briefly glanced at.
Maybe it was a coincidence? She picked the book back up, almost as if it was dirty, and then started reading, rifling through it, and her horror increased more and more. This was no coincidence. She of course had not read the narrative more than a few sentences at a time, but that was more than enough to show her the truth in all of its horrible certainty:
Everything she knew. Everyone she'd cared for. Even she herself.....was fictional. Something that someone with a strange name she couldn't pronounce, from this world, had thought up. She collapsed to the floor, as he legs gave way, and she started bawling almost as hard as she had during the spanking yesterday. Then she hit her fist against the nearby table as hard as she could and as many times as she could. It hurt. It hurt a lot. And not in the stingy kind of hurt she'd already learned of. It hurt more deeply. She saw blood from her knuckle. She kicked the table hard. She hurt her little toe. A lot. She didn't care. She screamed as loud as she could, completely unable to find a way to handle this except by reacting physically.
Then, after about 15 minutes of raging, sobbing, crying and screaming, Ciri was all spent. She limped over to the ktichen table, the kick to the living room table where she'd hurt her little toe still hurt badly, took a chair - the one with the pillow. She laughed derisively.
Even a made-up girl likes some comfort, her inner monologue told her. Geralt-of-her-mind was completely gone now.
He never existed you silly girl. Neither do you
Ciri placed the chair in the hallway facing the door. She didn't care how long it took. Nothing she did really mattered anyway. She sat down and waited for him to get back.
When he finally entered the door, she didn't know how much later it was, he had only closed the door behind him, before she said, in a tone that was flat and almost distant.
"You lied to me"
She tossed him the book she'd found, a bit of blood from her knuckles having found its way to the cover. "You lied to me", she repeated, before she felt anger, rage, boiling up in her again, and she screamed so loud that she actually made herself hoarse.
"YOU LIED TO ME!!!!!!!!"

Errands done, new raw materials obtained, food bought, time to go home. With great trouble he manages to open the door, hands full of bags, since he absolutely has to do it all in one trip, but instead of 'hello' he receives a book to the head. Daniel drops the bags and covers himself, in case of other books incoming, and doesn't really get right away why Ciri is screaming at him, but he quickly figures it out, when he sees the book title and picture. Well, he did lie to her, no getting out of that one. He wanted to have that talk with her...and now he's lying to himself too, of course. He would have had the talk with her...nope, still lying. There never really was any other way of her finding out than on her own somehow.
"Yes, I did." He admits. Then he notices the blood, first on the book, then on her hand. Did she hurt herself in anger? Probably. "And I see you've hurt yourself." He says calmly, but it's not the calm of someone who actually knows what he's doing, more of a numbness of someone who has absolutely no idea what to do, but is scared of looking anything other than absolute rock. There's a very slight shake in his voice, the paling of face, and also heartbeat around 180, or so he feels. He'd love to shout, but he's the bad guy here, and got in that position by his own fault. But what was he supposed to do? 'Hey, Ciri, by the way, you're made up.' That wouldn't fly.
"Let's take a look at your hand and then we can talk, when you're ready. Come with me. I'll explain...well, what I'm capable of explaining." He's pretty sure there's some quantum physics gibberish someone could tell her, but it never made sense to him. Luckily, he's also read enough scifi to maybe figure a way out? Daniel pulls out a medkit and sits at the table, pulling another chair for Ciri.
"Sit and gimme your hand. Let's see what happened there." Disinfection, possibly some bandages? "Anyway, yes, I lied to you. I...didn't know what else to do. I knew you will find out eventually, but I just...didn't know what to do." He's not going to break down here, but it's obvious from his voice he's controlling himself with great effort and total focus. Anything less and it might come to screaming from his side as well.
