I'm . . . thinking I'd like to have my own gallery, if that's okay. I only have one pic done, and another maybe halfway there, but I have ideas for a dozen more and counting. Is there a requirement first? I know my account is currently reading as being a "probationary member" (LOL sounds like I'm in trouble or something ^,^;;

. I'm also a writer (I write a WHOLE lot more than I draw) - are there particular . . . um, "galleries" or folders or whatever for a single author's fics all to go in the same place? Just wondering.

You're still a good four or five *great* pictures away from a gallery at the minimum, at this point. Gallery Regs state for a gallery the minimum is five GREAT pictures (or a host of other ones) with the belief you'll be making more in the future.
