Prime Directive Parenting - LokisWoman/Jade
"Well that's just perfect!" Pike sighed, slamming himself down in the Captain's seat. "Not only have I got you to babysit, Jim." he said, looking to Jim Kirk who was busy prodding a small, child Bones, wondering how it had happened. "But two actual infants too!"
"Could we not perhaps deport the three of them to a mothering Planet?" Spock asked, Jim annoyed by how serious his tone was.
"I'm not a kid, Spock." Jim snapped and then lifted the small Leonard McCoy by his underarms and held him to his chest. "Aww, he's kinda cute."
"No Spock, we can't. But maybe...." Pike's eyes fell on Spock at that point. "Spock, I'm appointing you to raise young Leonard McCoy and Hikaru Sulu. That's your mission."
"Pardon?" Spock asked, despite Vulcan nature, he was indeed rather shocked.
"You heard me." Pike tried not to smirk. "James. You'll be helping."
"B-"
"Or I can haul you down to Starfleet and have you explain why you illegally boarded a star ship."
"Fine." Jim huffed, grabbing the small Hikaru and sitting him on his hip. "But why do I have to work with Mr. Neversmile?"
"That seems derogatory." Spock answered, frowning at Jim.
"You're both going to be living in a large home, on Earth, England to be precise." Pike informed, "And you are to raise both these infants until they are able to enlist in Star Fleet at the age of eighteen, am I understood?"
"Yes Captain." Spock answered with hesitance.
"Sure...." Jim replied, mumbling. "But I'm not cooking or cleaning or anything like that."
"Then you'll be living in a dirty house, sorry Jim but Spock's the working parent. Which means you'll be a stay at home mo-...Father."
"....Great."
"Will I continue to operate at Star Fleet, sir?" Spock asked.
"No Spock, I'm sorry but the hours aren't suited to family life." Pike answered and looked over to the clock. "Head down to the shuttle bay, it'll take you to your destination."
Jim and Spock glanced annoyed at one another before then nodding and exiting. Jim held Bones to his chest while Spock took hold of young Hikaru's hand, firmly in his own.

The two children didn’t really understand what was going on around them, merely grasping that the man in the large chair was not happy about something or the other. Bones snapped at the man when he poked him, crossing his arms and glaring at all of them. Sulu was more complacent, simply watching the proceedings with curious eyes.
It seemed like these men wanted them to go with them, and the children were not pleased in the slightest. “Lemme go Jerk!” Bones demanded, pushing at Jim’s chest angrily. “I don’t know you! Lemme go!”
Sulu looked up the terrifying Vulcan holding his hand, whimpering softly and trying to pull away before the man ate him or something. “Let go? Pleathe?” He begged, lisp apparent when he spoke.

"You would be the moody kid." Jim sighed, rolling his eyes at the child's pushing and complaining. "You're just lucky nobody's shipping you off to some random planet." he sighed, how was this child once his one and only friend? "Calm down okay, no one's going to hurt ya." he sat down on the shuttle and strapped the small child into the seat. "Spock! Hurry up!"
Vulcans were alike Lionesses when it came to parenting. Both were very, very patient with their young. Spock knelt down to Sulu and spoke gently. "Calm yourself young one, I will cause you no harm, and you have nothing to fear." he explained, looking into the small boy's eyes.
"SPOCK!"
"One moment Mr. Kirk." Spock answered, calmly. "Come little one, it is alright." he said, leading the child along.

Bones pouted at the comment, before looking up in shock at Jim. "I wish you had! 'Cause then I wouldn't gotta listen to you!" He grouched, kicking and fussing at he was strapped into the shuttle chair. "Leggo!" Bones wailed, before falling silent in shock when Jim shouted for Spock. He eyed the man uneasily, uncertain what shouting meant for him.
Sulu was about to burst into tears when the Vulcan knelt in front of him, frightened and wanting nothing more than to hide under a bed far away from this. He looked up at Spock in shock when assured nothing would happen, before letting out a wail when Jim shouted. The small boy burst into tears, not liking the shout and tried to press his face into Spock's leg. "No!"

"Jim you are frightening the children, please calm yourself." Spock called back to Jim and then he reached down to pick Hikaru up, "It is alright child, no one shall cause you harm, this is my promise to you." he explained. "Come along."
Jim sighed but toned his voice down, he glanced to Bones and shook his head, "Look, I'm sorry for yelling, but kicking and pushing and ....doing what you did, is not acceptable."

Hikaru continued to cry into the Star Fleet uniform, content never to look away from the dull blue fabric ever again. He didn't speak again, too frightened to say anything to the Vulcan or the friend of his that shouted loudly. Sulu glanced up when Spock promised nothing would happen to him, before sniffling once and falling silent.
Bones glared right back at the young cadet, unconcerned with words. His parents scolded him all the time, and it never bothered him in the slightest. "Don't care. You're a jerk." Bones said with finality, before trying to press buttons on the shuttle's dashboard.

Spock sympathized with the young child, he didn't know where he was going and who they were, he understood why he was upset. Still, the Vulcan lead Sulu onto the shuttle and rose a brow at the other little boy's behavior. "Jim, you are aware it is our mission to parent these boys, correct?"
Jim was at the end of his tether and he tried restraining Bones in his arms when he played with the dashboard. "Cut it out!" he snapped and then looked over to Spock, "Shut up! Go criticize someone else!" he answered, thinking Spock was taking a dig at him.
"I am not criticizing, I am merely inquiring."
"Yes I know what the mission is, Spock!" Jim huffed, a growl in his throat. "CUT IT OUT!" He yelled loudly at the child.
"Jim, calmly scold the child. And if need be, punish him." Spock explained, his own tone calm despite the situation.
"Oh yeah right, cause I can take his toys away, or ground him, or sit him in the corner in a moving shuttle! I thought you were being helpful!" Jim growled, sarcasm in his tone. "How the hell am I gonna punish him?!"
"Smack his bottom." Spock answered plainly.
The look on Jim's face could have made the happiest baby cry. "I'm not gonna hit him, what the hell Spock?!" he growled and glared down at the child. "Shut up and sit down without struggling or you can go in the corner for a WEEK when we get to the house!" he snapped, no control in his tone.

Sulu decided Spock wasn’t so bad, as long as he remained as nice as he was right now. That was fine. He whimpered when they walked onto the shuttle, seeing how mean the other man was being to the little boy. Hikaru wanted off the shuttle, and he wanted off NOW. “Down!” He said, voice quivering slightly.
Bones pouted, using Jim’s anger to fuel his on. “Make me!” He snapped right back, unconcerned with this mean person. The shout made the child freeze, before Bones’ eyes filled with repressed tears. The small boy looked down, wincing when Jim yelled at him again. The tears began to drip down the little one’s face, and Sulu had had enough of this. He squirmed down before stomping on Jim’s foot.
“Leave him alone!” Sulu snapped, before hugging Bones around the waist. “Jerk!”
The other little boy whimpered, content to hold onto the only nice person on this shuttle. He liked this kid…the Asian one. He was nice. “Don’t worry…can handle myself.” Bones said softly, and Sulu shook his head. The little one had a sense of honor, and he would not back down.
“Go be mean to someone elthe!” Sulu said, before returning his attention to Bones.

Spock felt like this was getting out of control and it was Jim who was to blame, not the children. Why did Pike think Jim would make a suitable parent? If this was a test, was it not unfair to have young vulnerable children in the balance? Before Jim could yell and frighten the little ones again, he stepped in, calmly as ever. "Jim, step outside, and take a deep breath." he ordered.
"FINE!!" Jim growled heading out and breathing deep, he needed to calm down quickly. He thought back to Bones' crying and that actually made his heart sink...
Spock then bent down to both children's levels and looked them in the eyes. "Children, I am not going to defend Jim, his actions were wrong and he should not have yelled. However, it is naughty to stomp on someone's foot, and pushing, and shoving is also not permitted." his tone was calm but stern like it should be. "Your friendship is admirable, and you are both very smart children, you must forgive Jim when he will apologize."
Jim listened to what Spock was saying and he sighed, he'd been the biggest kid on the shuttle, he knew he had done wrong. "I..I'm sorry guys...." he said softly, but kept his distance. "I wont yell anymore...."
"Thank you Jim." Spock answered, "But the young ones must be punished."
"Spock you can't! I wont let you!" Jim protested.

The stress and fear of the incident seemed to have bonded the two children together, and Sulu was willing to stand up to Jim to protect his new friend. The little boy glared as Jim left the room, not planning on letting the man near the other boy ever again.
Bones sniffled softly, rubbing his eyes and clinging to Sulu as Spock knelt before them. Hikaru looked at Spock, tilting his head. “He ‘served it.” The child said with finality before narrowing his eyes at accepting the apology. “No.” Bones whimpered when Jim walked back in, trying to press himself into Sulu’s shirt. Hikaru crossed his arms when the Vulcan said they should be punished, before glaring at both adults. “You’re both jerkth.” He snapped, before hugging Bones tightly.
“Wanna go home…” Bones said softly, not looking up at the scene.
“You shouted! Don’ liketh either of you!” Hikaru added, wondering if he could run for it with Bones in tow.
