it was a one in a trillion chance. The plane was supposed to be state of the art. But even all the modern technology in the world hadn't made much of a difference.

That was what Ian found himself thinking as he sat in his fathers Study... His study now... at 20, Ian was now the head of the family, looking blankly at the phone still in his hand, it's tone flat, the other side having already hung up after informing him of the fatal plane crash that had cost his parents there lives...

he was also suddenly parent to his baby brother. how exactly was he supposed to deal with this!?

Ian sighed. looking at his watch.

The little child Samuel was sitting next to his older brother. The five year old boy looked around wondering what happened. He had forgotten the details and he rested his head on Ian’s lap. “Ian I’m hungry.” He whined crossing his arms. “I want cake.”

"it's too close to dinner buddy." Ian said, slipping into his older brother role... Then with a pang of grief remembered he now was more then that. effective parent to his little brother.

The child grumbled and he let out a yawn. He still didn’t understand death since he was still a young child. It would take a bit before grief would set in. “Can I go to my room?”

Ian still found himself wanting to re-read the crash reports. as a pilot himself, he knew there were thousands upon thousands of ways that emergancies could happen. but he still found himself wondering if there was some detail the investagators hadn't seen that he might?

He smiled and he got off of his lap. He then ran over to his bedroom. He began to jump on the bed and he hid in his toy tent. He began to play with his action figures smiling. “Brother look!” The boy shouted holding a toy slime up that had been left out and molded over time.
