Sam's little kittens (for MR AZ)

Sam Williams lay back in his bed late on night, listening the the sound of the rain pitter pattering against the windows of his Brooklyn apartment. Whilst falling asleep was proving difficult with all the noise, it only got worse when he heard the sounds of little feet downstairs in the kitchen. Sighing to himself, he got up and put on his dressing gown before making his way downstairs to see what was going on.

Three kittens were there, one black furred, with green eyes who was looking for something quite desperately, one bandaged runt-ish and younger ginger colored cat with blue eyes who seemed to have just been in a fight and was currently holding an even younger kitten, a white one with blue eyes.

“Can’t find” The black one; Emily mewled.

“Here, hold her, I can find food anyvhere” The ginger colored one; Robin said, giving her the small kitten and then climbed up, sniffing the place. They needed food for their adopted little sister; Becky.

Sam slowly crept towards the kitchen door, peering inside to see what was going on. To his great surprise, he saw three little cat girls, all looking through his cupboards for something to eat. While he was bewildered by the presence of the girls in his house, he never the less steeled himself, and made his way into the kitchen. "Hello there" he said, offering them a soft smile, "what are you three doing out so late?".

The ginger cat hissed and stumbled to put herself in front of the other kittens while growling.

"Robin!" Emily scolded and held to their youngest sister, they weren't sisters but they had adopted each other as such. "W...we're hungry, sir, and our sister is getting sick" She said softly.

"Don't you think on touching her" Robin half growled, not wanting to risk Becky.

Sam looked down at the little ginger cat, seeing how defensive she was of the other two. As such, he gently raised both of his hands to show that he wasn't going to hurt them. "If your sister's sick" he said, "then let me see if I can help her".

The ginger one hissed softly but then the dark one nodded, both went to him, one handling over the white kitten, who seemed hungry and feverish.

Sam lifted her up, gently feeling her head and seeing how she shivered in his arms. "Don't worry" he said, smiling at the little white kitten in his arms, "it's nothing a little hot soup couldn't cure". With that, he walked over to the stove with the girl in his arm, gently putting a pan on the stove and pouring a can of chicken soup into it as he began to make something for the girls to eat.

The reddish cat mewled and looked at her sister while the darker one thanked the man silently. The little sick one sniffed the air and mewled hungrily.

Once the soup was ready, he pulled out three bowls and poured the soup into them, bringing them over to the table and placing them at three individual seats. "There you are" he said, sitting the smallest girl in one of the seats, "eat up".

The dark one began to carefully feed the white one while the reddish one threw a confused glance to the man and then began to lovingly lick the white cat's ear, calming her as she began to eat slowly, sniffing a bit here and there. After two bowls the white kitten began to recover a bit and eat eagerly, the dark kitten; Emily began to eat herself with a light smile while the reddish one; Robin, kept looking over the youngest kitten, after a good while Robin began to eat warily, looking up at the man until finally deciding to ask.

"Why... why are you being nice to us?"
