I'm not "in the closet" about it, really, it's just that it's the sort of topic that doesn't really come up in the general conversations with my circle of friends. If we did something like, I dunno, Truth or Dare or some other equally-insipid drinking game, and I was asked? Sure, I'd be forthright about it. I give a damn what they think about it, and I already know the kinks of half of them from mutual acquaintances or things left behind in rooms that shoulda probably been cleaned up, thrown away or... otherwise properly disposed of. *shrug*

But... as I play a lot of table-top RPGs, and am often running the game as a GM, I'll do the Robert Jordan thing and make references to spanking in the game, between characters, as character history, as NPC actions... all kind of depends on the game, the setting and the characters involved. Case in point, I'm currently running a game of Dark Heresy (a TTRPG based on Warhammer 40,000) set on a planet a thousand years after a nuclear holocaust. The main NPC character is a grizzled Witch-Finder and cleric, basically a daemon-slaying badass. One of the other characters in the party, played by a female, is a 14 year old boy who happens to own a machine-pistol. Said boy is fond of "spray and pray", where he just hoses an area with bullets to kill monsters... monsters that aforementioned Witch-Finder is probably engaged in hand-to-hand combat. As he was nearly shot, twice, last session, the Witch-Finder made it known that, were that to happen again, he would tan the hide of that character.

I'd say I was heavily in the closet as well with most people my age on here as well. My problem is a few things, my shyness and lack of ability to be assertive in real life so I don't date much let alone would ever find out about my partner's kinks or share mine. Second is that, I've had some real bad luck with jobs, so I don't really have the money to live on my own [parents helped with college payments and living on campus for the first three of five years[masters included] ]. The problem I have is that it doesn't seem like anything even remotely fetished is near me, closest I could find is a crappy looking adult bookstore on a main road, that I'm pretty sure is closed half the time cause I never see cars in front of it. Beyond that I almost got exposed at college, I'm in the theater and had to see a show, and pre-reading the script there was a spanking scene in it. So while not blabbing I was into spanking, I flipped it into how I thought it would be awkward to see that on the stage, since basically mostly college students would see the shows so in reality you'd be spanking/spanked on stage literally about 10 feet from some people. I was into spanking before I knew what it was despite not grasping the idea of it without seeing it or experiencing it in real life. Looking back I remember the earliest memory I had was after watching Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo was a combination dream of when Tom was stuck in a bowling ball return and having bowling balls launched at his tail, replacing Tom in the dream with Daphne, why didn't know then lol, I wish I had an opportunity in real life to try spanking somehow.

My ex-girlfriends know. My older brother might suspect, though I'm not completely sure (I know he's a sadist, but I'm not sure if he knows I am). There's a few other people, like old friends from school and random girls I've met at parties. I have had an ongoing relationship involving spanking for over twenty years now (I married him!) and as we are monogamous I really have had no need to be actively in the scene as many others here are. So, yes, in that regard I'm definitely in the closet (only HE can open the door to it!). When I was younger I had, besides numerous fantasies, a few actual spanking "adventures" with boys, but boys are essentially clueless about both the phsyical and emotional needs of girls. expecially girls into spanking. Sadly, that doesn't mean either of them 'gets it'. Sometimes my partner (Kage) will indulge me apparently at random, but I just can't figure our where she stands on the whole thing... I guess it doesn't help that I don't really think of myself as a 'spanko' either, since for me it's all wrapped up in the whole dom/sub package.

I'm definitely out of the closet. My family knows. My friends know. When I was working, my coworkers knew. Hell, I shared my spanking videos with some of my coworkers, and even had one of my coworkers/friends hold the camera during a trip to an anime convention when I had a young lady meet with me. I use my real name for my blogs, my spanking videos, and my spanking erotica. I've easily been to dozens fo spanking parties as far west as Texas and as far north as Ohio. I have an active online presence in the spanking community, and have literally met and spanked hundreds of young ladies (though "young" isn't always literal) at events and private meets. Personally, I can't imagine NOT being out of the closet. If I was in the closet, I wouldn't get any of the spanking play that I now have, and I'd be stuck with online means of expressing my kink. The thing, though, is that my roleplay wouldn't be anywhere near as good if I didn't have real experience with what I'm describing.
