"I have opinions on a lot of things, people just usually don't want to hear them," Crevan retorted when he heard what the man had to say, his blue eyes shifting toward him briefly. It was the truth, he had very strong opinions on a lot of things but something as trivial as what he was going to eat simply was not an issue for him and so he said that it didn't matter. When he was asked about his day Crevan just shrugged his shoulders and replied, "It was boring but you'll be happy to know that I did not enjoy myself." That was of course spoken in reference to the man's words that morning about the time spent in juvie not intended to be fun for him.

Roy gave him a hurt, sort of disappointed look when the kid said he'd be happy to know that he did not enjoy himself. "Really?!" he snapped, losing it and slamming his hands on the steering wheel, as he pulled up at the traffic lights. "Did you dare just say that to me? You think I want you to be miserable? Do you think I'm giving up my home and taking you out of that place as much as I can, so you can be miserable?!" he demanded, looking him right in the eyes. "Don't you dare sit there and say that, don't you EVER dare."

Crevan actually jumped when the man snapped at him and then started slamming his hands on the steering wheel, the boy having the thought that the guy needed anger management classes or something and didn't need to be allowed around kids if that was the reaction he had to a simple statement. Of course when the man went on to rant at him for what he had said and told him not to dare to say that Crevan narrowed his own eyes and snapped back at him, "Don't sit there and act all self righteous when it was YOU who told me this morning that it wasn't meant to be fun. Those were YOUR words, not mine, so don't get pissy with me because I told you that I didn't enjoy myself."

Roy sighed and shook his head, "Yes, I said that you weren't meant to enjoy it, but I never said I was happy about that did I? You're making me out to seem like an asshole when I'm the only one who gives a damn about you, but no, you just want to push people away when all they want to do is help you, that's all I want to do." he explained and sighed, calming himself down fairly quickly. "Crevan." he put a hand on his shoulder and looked him in the eyes. "Why won't you accept that I care about you? Cause I do, probably more than I should...but I can't help it, I just wanna give you a damn good life."

Crevan gave him a blank stare. "I wasn't making you out to be anything, you're reading more into that than there was," he felt the need to point out, not having expected the man to take his words that seriously. Of course the bit about him pushing people away gained a flinch from the boy, Crevan wrapping his arms around his upper body as he replied, "That's the safest thing to do, you have no idea." When Roy once again placed a hand on his shoulder Crevan tried to pull away but being in the car there wasn't really anywhere that he could go. "Why won't I accept that? Because I've known you for all of two days and you have no reason to care," Crevan said, thinking that it was a little unrealistic of the man to be upset with him for not jumping at the chance to trust him when they had literally just met.

When the kid flinched, Roy pulled his hand back and sighed again, not sure what he was meant to do, the man was quick to love someone or something, being of Christian faith, he treated all as his brother or sister, or at least he tried to. He believed kids needed someone to love them and guide them, and he wanted to give Crevan what every child should be entitled to, a decent upbringing. "Alright...okay, I'm sorry kiddo you're right. I shouldn't expect you to just trust me...knowing you for a little time...sometimes I just get carried away." he looked at the boy. "Shall we just put this little spat behind us?"

Crevan really was thrown off guard when the man started hitting things so he ended up flinching away when Roy placed a hand on his shoulder. The kid didn't understand what it was that was making this guy act like he cared and while he had been raised Catholic the idea that it was faith driven just never even entered into his mind. He countered what Roy was saying to him about accepting that he cared and looked genuinely startled when Roy actually said not only that he was sorry but that Crevan was right. That was the absolute last thing that he had been expecting and he gaped at the man. "That...has got to be a first. No one's ever admitted that they were wrong to me before," Crevan said, feeling just the tiniest bit of respect for the man because of that. "It's fine, yea we can forget about it," he said quietly after a moment, willing to let it drop and trying to figure out just what had changed, because something had.

"Well even adults make mistakes pal, but not nearly enough of them own up to it." Roy explained to Crevan and smiled when the child confirmed that they could put it behind them, since the man was really happy about that. "Thanks pal, I appreciate it." he informed and then pulled up outside his house, finding that he didn't feel like he needed to make sure the lad didn't bolt. He lead him through to the back and hung the lad's jacket up. "Why don't you get a shower, and get into your pjs, and then the food will be here." he smiled.

Actually having an adult not only admit to being wrong but to actually apologize was something that Crevan had never expected to experience and he was genuinely surprised by that though it did actually gain a tiny bit of respect for the man. "I know adults make mistakes but to hear most of them tell it they're always right," Crevan said quietly since that was the way that things worked in his experience. He went on to say that they could put the argument behind them, nodding his head when Roy actually thanked him. "You're welcome," he said quietly, not sure why he didn't just brush the words off the way that he normally would but for some reason he didn't.

When they arrived at the man's house Crevan actually followed him inside rather than taking the chance that was given for him to dash off, the boy looking over at Roy when the man told him to take a shower and get into his pajamas, the boy debating that for a moment before he nodded. "Alright," he said quietly, heading up to the room that had been designated as his and then going to the bathroom from there after grabbing the pajamas. It didn't take him long to take a shower and soon enough he made his way back downstairs, his hair still damp but Crevan was unconcerned by that since it would dry on its own and it pretty much always looked disheveled anyway.

Roy smiled when the boy obeyed him, even if there was a bit of hesitation, he didn't put up an argument and that made the man proud. He sat down in his comfortable chair and smiled to himself, he felt like he'd managed to build more of a bridge with Crevan just now, and he hoped that it would last a while too. When the boy returned, the man smiled and put the Chinese food onto plates for the two of them.

"Well dinner's here." he smiled, tone gentle as he put a few prawn crackers on the kid's plate and then he sat down at the table. "I think in order to balance this out as a suitable punishment, as well as a chance to escape the juvenile centre for a while, some chores are in order. So if you could do the dishes tonight, we can draw a line at that today."
