Troublesome Elvlings

Legolas smiled at him. He was a terrible liar, but he could reason his way into not lying.
"Oh, no Ada. We have been playing ball," he said, looking down a bit, hugging his ada.

Elrond embraced his twins, and held them close.
"Oh, no naughtiness from you two, either?" he teased, running long fingers through their dark hair.

"Have you now?" Thranduil smiled slightly, nuzzling his son's soft cheek. "Nothing too terrible then." He smiled, content to believe the child for now; even though he had a feeling...

"No Ada!" Elladan grinned.
"We've been good!" Elrohir smiled, snuggling closer to his beloved Ada.
"We promise." They chorused together.

Elrond laughed, and steered them to the dining hall.
"Good. I hope you three are hungry," he said.

Legolas snuggled to him, glad for the affection.
"I was behaved, Ada," he said. He wasn't lying; he didn't say he was behaved well.

"Starving Ada!" The twins said, pulling on his hands to make him move faster. "Can we have the tarts with berries inside Ada?" Elladan begged, turning his large brown eyes on his father.

Thranduil returned the hug, and allowed Legolas down so he could walk beside the twins. "I hope so Legolas. This luncheon is very important."

Legolas ran to the twins, smiling at his ada.
"I know, Ada. We would not do anything terrible," he said, thinking the fireworks were too bad.

Elrond chuckled.
"Let us see what the cooks have prepared, yes?" he said, as they entered the dining hall. He took his seat at the head of the table, knowing Thranduil would sit to his right, and the boys would sit a little down the table, to his left.

Thranduil snorted softly as Legolas ran off to join the twins. "Terrible indeed." He caught up with Elrond and the pair shared an indulgent smile.

"Alright Ada." Elladan said, taking his place at his Ada's left. He wanted to eat and then hurry to watch the fireworks. He wondered if Ada would be to angry.
"Why can't we go to the meeting Ada?" Elrohir asked.

Legolas sat between the twins, per usual, and smiled as he spotted a favorite dish of his, poached fish served with greens.
"The dinner is tomorrow, yes, Ada? And I would greatly like to go," he said, looking up at his tall ada sitting across from him.

Elrond smiled indulgently at his sons.
"You are not old enough, my young ones. Perhaps in a few more summers, we shall revisist this topic."

"You are young yet Legolas. There is very little to interest you. Perhaps in a few summers you may attend." Thranduil watched his son's face, seeing it fall into a pout. "Legolas, do not scowl at me in such a fashion."

"We are old enough Ada! We will not cause any trouble!" Elrohir protested while his twin just scowled and turned away from his father, feelings hurt.

Legolas looked down, still pouting.
"I would like to go, Ada," he said. He knew Lord Glorfindel would be there, and he was endlessly fascinated by the Balrog slayer of legend. He certainly didn't want the elf to think he was still an elfling. It didn't matter that the old elf still called Legolas 'Little Greenleaf'.

Elrond arched a brow, a sign his patience was wearing thin.
"Do not shout at me, Elrohir. You are both too young, and it would be endlessly boring for you. You would all be better in your rooms, playing. And if you do choose to argue overly much, I can arrange to have extra lessons drawn up for you," he said, sternly. He could have the twins' tutor, Erestor, create extra lessons to occupy the elflings if he had to.

"I am aware of your feelings Legolas. I am sure Glorfindel will be able to spare you time after dinner, but you will not be in attendance." Thranduil said, his voice making it clear there would be no arguments.

"Wasn't shouting." Elrohir muttered softly.
"It's alright Ada. We do not need extra lessons." Elladan said, giving his twin a brief kick under the table to shut him up.
