Unforeseen Consequences {for LittleTorey}

Jade gave her handler a look when the woman told her that there was no reason to get smart with her, the kid resisting the urge to say something in that moment that would probably get her into trouble. So instead she just kept her mouth shut, at least until the conversation changed a bit. "I'm not hurting myself either...don't need any of those other people. Every time that I try it just backfires anyway," Jade felt the need to point out since her interactions with people seemed to constantly be backfiring on her and Jade was tired of it. That and she'd pretty much been a loner her entire life because of the fact that she and her father had moved around so much that she couldn't really make friends.

“If everybody had the mentality of possible failure means to never attempt something, where would any of us be?” Jennifer asked, “You don’t get on very well with anybody here, and you already have a reputation… Change can be good honey. I wouldn’t suggest this if I didn’t think you would do well.”

Jade just once again shrugged her shoulders when Jennifer made the comment about everyone having her mentality but she didn't bother arguing against that one. A slightly haunted look did appear in her green eyes when her handler mentioned her having a reputation, the girl looking a little bit stricken by that one. "Didn't do much to earn that," she felt the need to say quietly, trying to stand up for herself even if there was very little that she could really do about the situation at large.

“I agree with that Jade, you didn’t do much to earn a reputation but the fact is that you have one, deserved or not.” Jennifer stood and took her empty plate to the sink to wash it off, “Besides, if we move you’ll be able to see Aria more and you’ll be able to be friendly in an environment that doesn’t constrict you so much socially.” Even in the institution kids managed to form bonds, some even convinced their handlers to allow them to sit with their friends instead of a guardian. Jennifer could only feel that Jade was hurting her own social and emotional development. Jennifer walked back and stood by the girl so her hips were aligned to the girls shoulders, “Sweetie,” Jennifer began as she draped her arm behind Jade, “I wouldn’t do anything to you that I don’t think would help you, you know that right?”

Jade wasn't happy when Jennifer agreed that she hadn't really done anything to deserve a reputation but added that she had one anyway, that seeming vastly unfair to the girl though she didn't say that since she knew that there wasn't anything that Jennifer could do about the situation anyway. "People around here are stupid," she murmured unhappily, listening as Jennifer outlined the benefits that would come from moving and Jade wasn't against the idea since she didn't want to stay at the facility, she just didn't think that anything was really going to change by leaving because at the end of the day she was still going to be someone's prisoner. The girl craned her neck back to look at her handler when Jennifer moved to stand behind her, Jade thinking about her words when the woman spoke and nodding her head slightly. "Yea I know," she said quietly, knowing at least that her handler was trying to help even if she wasn't so sure about the methods.

“There are idiots everywhere honey, there’s no escaping idiots.” Jennifer confessed while a smile pursued her lips as she stood beside her charge while the girl craned her neck and agreed to at least a few points she had made, “I know it’ll be much better for you. I’ll send in the paperwork after lunch and they should get it all settled within the week.” She paused, trying to see if Jade had anything more to say, “What do you want to do today? We can stay in here till lunch but after that I’m kicking your booty out into the sunshine.” Jennifer teased Jade with a gentle hip bump before leaving her side, “In a few days from now you’ll hopefully be begging to go outside with all your friends, riding bikes, climbing trees, water balloon fights…” Jennifer reminisced while tussling Jades hair a bit. “You’ll learn to love being a kid, I know it.”
