Nocturnia sat on the lid of her coffin, awake and worried, and a little angry too. Her older baby sister and two brothers hadn't come back from their nightly exploits yet, and it was getting late--late even for them.

The baby, Luna, woke up and began to cry, and the older girl crossed the marble floor to tend to her.

Just keep telling yourself, Nocturnia, that The Hand That Rocks The Cradle Rules The World, she thought bitterly, as the baby calmed down from her sister moving her bed.

Finally the children's sister attempted to get into contact with them through telepathy--they all could do it; in fact even Luna could send them messages at this early an age. Christoph? Christien? Dahlia? Where in the world are you?! There was no reply.

Frustrated, Nocturnia finally decided that her siblings were Up To No Good and that they were Really Going To Catch It when they finally arrived home...

It was worth it. Totally. Christoph had to admit, no matter what his older brother had thought, letting him take the lead on tonight's little excursion had payed off nicely.

The whisperings of Big Sis's voice in their heads, however, was more than a hint that their fun had gone on long enough. Now to hope they could make it home quickly enough to appease her. ...probably not.

He decided not to be the one to reply to Nocturnia. No, Christoph just decided to be the first one to move. The spry young vamp leapt skyward, fully expecting his dear brother and sister to catch up.... and speed up... so they could avoid as much trouble as possible when they got home!

And Nocty was indeed getting impatient, pacing the floor with loud, echoing clicks from the stiletto heels on her boots. The familiar chubby ravens that came around every night made their landing in the windowsills and watched the mansion's mistress mumbling about Bratty Children and how They Must Be Disciplined.

Luna swatted playfully at the bats hanging from the mobile over her basinette, giggling and cooing. Christoph! Nocty wanna see ya! Come home real quick, she's maaaad...

Christoph groaned, and looked behind him. Luna was a smart baby and all, but if she noticed that Nox was getting impatient, they were screwed. He looked behind him. Where were his brother and sister?!

Ooh. At least he had an excuse.

I'm trying to find Chris and Dal! Tell Nox as soon as I get them, I'll drag them home!

The boy turned, and headed back the way he'd come, looking for his siblings.

Christien followed behind his brother, rolling his eyes the whole time. He hated when his brother got like this, but he had to work with it.

"Christoph, slow down. It doesn't matter if we hurry now. we're late enough as it is already."

Christoph turned around in surprise. How'd Chris get behind him again? Weird.

"Eh. Just figured it would give me a way out of being in trouble... even if coming all the way out here was my idea." the vamp shrugged. "Where's our wonderful sister? She's the real reason we're going to be so late..."

A raven perched on the edge of Luna's basinette and looked down at her with a quizzical expression.

Go 'way birdy! Don't have food for you...Christoph makin' excuses again...NOCTY!

Gah! What, little one...?

Christoph fibbin' to us.

Just let him tell you what he wants. He'll be dealt with soon enough. Nox lifted the bird from Luna's crib and held it close, stroking its shaggy black feathers like she would a cat's fur.

And they better not come crying...and burning...to me if the sun comes up while they're out!!

Christian turns his head, looking in every diretion for some sign of his sister, with no luck.

"Damn it! Where could she be? we only have a few hours till sunrise."

"Dahlia! You brainless.... Where are you?! Its not getting any darker, y'know!" The boy grumbled, and crossed his arms, looking at his older brother. "Don't blame this on me. You said that you would watch her tonight... Jeez, where is that brat?!"

He was getting tempted to just leave. His sister knew the way home... and she could be even faster than the two of them, if she needed to be. Christoph loved his sister, but he wasn't risking the Sun for her!
