Spock rose a brow but nodded when the Captain said to follow him down to his quarters and then he too caught the gaze of the crew. Though the Vulcan had been careful not to raise his voice, he had kept his comments snide, and barely audible for anyone else but the Captain. The Vulcan stepped into Jim's quarters and looked at him. "And how is it you wish to waste my time now?" he asked shaking his head, honestly he had better things to do then hear Jim rant at him for something Spock knew he was right about.

Jim acknowledged that remark with a quiet click of the tongue and a moment to bite back any immediate retort he would later come to regret "That depends on your point of view," he started, clasping his hands behind his back and approaching the Vulcan with a "You see it as a waste of time, I see it as figuring out just what the hell is wrong with my science officer?" Now that they were out of ear-shot from the crew, Jim was truly able to impose the full might of that demand with a piercing glare.

Spock narrowed his eyes, watching the man and he shook his head, "I do not appreciate you accusing me for being the cause of this war, and by your words it seems as though that was the case." he answered, "When it is you who is to blame for any war. I do not agree your strategies are ...adequate." he answered and then turned, going to the door and toward the panel. "So we are done here, Captain."

"On the contrary Mister Spock, I believe we have barely begun to scratch the surface," Jim promptly corrected, striding over to meet the Vulcan at the door panel "And let me warn you now, if you don't drop the attitude and start co-operating then this whole process is going to take far longer than either of us would care to face."

"Why is it that both you and Doctor McCoy have accused me of having an attitude?" Spock asked, a huff in his voice and he rolled his shoulders, sort of glaring at the Captain as he stopped him from leaving. "This is ridiculous, you do realize that neither Captain or second in command is on the bridge. And you say you feel you are qualified to commandeer the Enterprise? think not."

"Perhaps it's not an accusation as stating a fact, Spock. From what I see, you have an extremely petulant attitude." Jim now made no attempt to hide the scold that was quickly overtaking his tone, nor the darkening of his gaze "And from the looks of things, I'd say you're no more qualified to take command than I. Infact you're lucky I'm not sending you to the corner right now to compose yourself, mister Spock." He tilted his chin up in a subtle gesture of imposing authority "Now, last chance, either talk with me sensibly or prepare yourself for disciplinary action."

"Would that be a metaphor?" Spock asked, when Jim mentioned sending him to the corner, that seeming very strange for the Vulcan and he was admittedly confused by that. When Jim mentioned disciplinary action, Spock rose a brow. "You have not given a disciplinary before Captain, what makes you think that you can perform such acts?" he asked, a slight arrogance to his tone. "You need me on board the Enterprise, my knowledge is vast. You cannot deport me." he said, that sassy attitude shining through.

"I never said anything about reporting you, Spock." And with that, the Captain wasted no time in reaching out and taking his sass-riddled officer by one of his oh-so-sensitive pointed ears "But I will clarify one thing," he started as he began to unceremoniously march Spock in the direction of his bed "So long as I am responsible for your life, I shall go out of my way to make sure that includes your actions and even your manners if you cannot do so yourself," he paused only to sink down towards the bed with a weighted thump and drag the Vulcan promptly down with him; from there, he was able to manoeuvre Spock across his lap and pin him as efficiently as he could "And in return, I will have to insist upon the respect that in-turn entitles me to."

Spock pondered on that a moment before then yipping a little when his ear was grabbed, that hurting much more than a human ear would because of the sensitivity. "Let go of my ear!" he demanded, a sort of wounded tone to his voice. As he was marched to the bed, the Vulcan frowned and then his eyes widened when he found himself over the Captain's lap. "This...is becoming an often occurrence, ...would this happen to be the new official disciplinary measure?"

Now it was Jim's turn to raise a curious brow at that particular remark "That depends, if this is becoming so frequent to you, do I need to make it official?" although the apparent frequency of, what had literally been a spur of the moment reaction for Jim, was not the issue at hand, the Captain felt it his duty to further enquire on the matter before they began "But what do you mean by that, exactly, Spock?"
