If you go down the woods today... (For Monk2024)
She was running, as fast as she could, she was escaping through the forest, she somehow knew that this time her father was going to fulfill his everyday menace of killing her. The trees flashed by her side at high speed as she evaded them, trying to find a place to hide as she always did whenever her father was outraged, her father’s shouts were not far behind and that was distressing, her father had always been fast, too fast as for it to be normal, but she only though of that when he was chasing her.
The forest was dark, strangely enough she could guide herself in it without problem, she had always been able to do that, she had practically grown up in the forest and had learned to survive in it, so many days hiding or escaping from her family, wishing for some other life for the which she could not reach. Suddenly she went out to a clearing and bumped into something she had not seen before, or that had not been there a few seconds ago... She fell back, falling on her behind, and there, illuminated by the moonlight, stood a bear, a bear she knew but had never seen before, her father’s shouts and descriptions of how he would beat her to submission and then rip off her skin drew closer and closer, but she wasn’t afraid this time, she got up and went to the bear’s side, holding to its paw, somehow she knew that the bear would protect her from her father.
She saw her father come closer, the crop like thing on his hand, and then his expression of hatred and lust for hurting her dissapeared.
She closed her eyes as she heard howls beginning to surround him, her father was in the center of the clearing, wolves and the bear surrounding him.
The young messy haired brunette held to the bear and didn’t care to see when the circle of wolves closed, attacking and killing her father as if they were one.
His scream filled the night. Her name. Kennith...
“KENNITH! LAST CALL!”
“huh?” The child woke up, she was on the school bus, it was the last day before vacations... how she hated vacations, school gave her a rest from her family. She groaned and took her backpack.
“Ya know? My bus ain’t no hotel, sleep in yer house” The driver, a rather fat woman told her.
“Yeah, yeah, good vacations to you to, Lavinia” Kennith muttered as she descended, her home was still a long walk away, the school bus didn’t enter the forest. She saw as the bus went away and saw the few kids there making faces at her, she made the same faces back, they didn’t like her, she didn’t like them. She sighed and began to walk away, no one liked a strange kid that talked about things they couldn’t see, or who wore things with skulls on them, or who wasn’t exited about the last stupid movie, or the last boy who won the match. She didn’t care, she didn’t need them and whenever they crossed the line she was more than ready to answer with fists if necessary.
She began to walk away, the road was long and went into the forest, trying to take the long road in. She hated her home.
The child sighed, she was about to turn 11, she was a messy haired kid with amber eyes, she wore a skull dark shirt, loose pants, some blue worn sneakers and a jacket, her backpack was patched all over with groups no one knew or thought were not for a teen to listen, her jacket was sew since it had ripped in many places.
After a while she looked up, something had moved, it was then when she saw them, two gray wolves... She froze and just stared at them.
Not long after they looked at her and turned away, seemly uninterested on her.
She sighed, not really trying to put much sense to that and took out a packet of cookies from her backpack before continuing.
Not long after she arrived to her home, it was not that deep in the forest, her father’s car could get there without problem, but it was not really near civilization.
She got in, thankful that her father came at night.
But still.
“He would kill you if he saw you bought cookies” A tired and bored voice came. Her mother. Always lying on the couch, drinking wine when she wasn’t tidying up to near perfection, Kennith didn’t like her and she had given up with her when the young girl had proven to be far from the perfect child she had had in mind when she had been pregnant, she never did anything to prevent anyone from touching her, nor gave her child any support, Kennith often had the impression of living with strangers.
She shrugged and went for a glass of milk, it was not fair that she was the only one that didn’t get to eat anything she liked unless she was hunting it herself or working to get the money.
“I saw two wolves on my way here... They were near the road, they were not normal wolves, they were strange looking” She muttered.
The woman didn’t say anything just flipped the channels.
After that Kennith went to her room and got the things out, she wanted to make a figure, she got out her cutter and began to cut some things.
No long after a car pulled off, her father was home.
“You daughter is seeing things again, go fix her.” The woman told the man as he came in, half drunk.

Her father went red in the face and went towards the girls room "I'll fix her alright, this time I'm gonna fix her for good." He raged, kicking her door open and slapping her round the head hard "What have I told you about seeing crazy shit you stupid c***."

The child had been distracted with her cutting as to hear her "mother" accusing her, she should stop trusting that woman but at times one just needed someone to talk to, even if it was idiotic.
Her father bursting in barely gave her time to turn around before a heavy slap on her head made her go from sitting on the floor to lying on the ground, her body knocking down a glass of milk she had been drinking.
She had to wait some seconds to recover but then frowned and looked to her "father", no matter how hard he beat her, she had never learned to really respect him. How could she? She had seen him act like a coward in front of those that were over him once and over. The man was not weak, nor small, he was rather tall and strong, but there were those that were even stronger or taller, and he would cower to them while mistreating all those who were weaker than him.
Her head hurt, but that didn't matter.
"I'm not seeing things... they are real" Kennith muttered angrily. Her hand was fisted but she had not realized she was still holding to the cutter she had been using.

"Look at that, you made a mess stupid brat." He said slapping her again "You dare to talk back to me, I will kill you." He said and kicked her in the ribs hard.

Kennith frowned more at the slap and tried to find an escape before this went up, however the kick came, far too fast, she grabbed to his leg to try to prevent it, till it pushed her back, she forced herself to recover her breath and she got up, staggering a bit, and noticed that the window as open, she began to try to evade him, try to escape.

He didn't notice her go for the window until it was too late and it took him a minute to get through it and after her, he was yelling rage filled abuse at her the whole time.

It took her more than she expected to go through the window, giving her father time to try to grab her, she looked back and tried to push his hand away angrily, she never noticed that she was still holding the cutter, the blade cut his skin deeply, forcing him to let her go and bleeding him profusely. She was more than surprised, she had never ever attacked him back.
He was now really going to kill her.. to destroy her. She landed outside the house and ran for her life like she had rarely ran before, she grabbed a backpack that was hidden in a bush, it contained whatever she needed to survive for some days, she had left it after she had had to hide in the forest for 2 nights, then she ran at her whole speed, the forest was dark, but she could see clearly, that had always come to her as both normal and strange.

Her father stopped to lick the bleeding cut then took off after her, he didn't notice that the cut healed up as he went.
Unfortunately for him the scent of his blood had already traveled to a hostile nose.

The child could smell the blood before she ran away, she could smell the scent of blood and had never knew why. She ran as fast as she could but her father was still behind her, she reached a clearing on the forest, the full moon illuminated it, just like in her dream.

Her father caught up with her and looked round until he found a broken branch to beat her with. halfway to where she was a dark furry avalanche struck him and he went down, the bear pinned him with a huge paw and then tore off his head.
