Name: Maia Beleza Morris
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Height: 5'2
Weight: 104 lbs.
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Jade Green
Race: Ooyamaneko-jin (Lynx)
Birthday: February 29th
Appearance: Maia is on the shorter, slender side with a very smooth, slightly-tanned complexion that pays homage to her European latina heritage. She also lacks any sharply-defined facial features. What Maia lacks in chest size, she makes up for with the rather athletically-toned rear of hers from years of soccer practice. Maia's hair is long and reaches past her shoulders. The blonde hair is marred and fadely striped with the occasional slash of black. Her ears are very similar to that of a neko-jins, but the difference lies mainly in part to the black tufts on the tips of her ears and the fact that inside the ruff is longer. Her tail is also much shorter than a neko-jin's, something that she will get VERY flustered about when noted aloud, and the tip of which is black.
As for what Maia typically wears, she tends to shoot for loose, carefree sports clothes and sometimes even tomboy-like appearance, damn near hating having to wear skirts and dresses (in public). You'd never be able to get her to admit it, but she does have an odd interest in frills and laces.
History: Maia was born to a Latin Pop singer who gained a mild standing within Europe, Miguel Estefan. Miguel first fell in interest with one of his fans, Angelique Beleza, for their shared characteristic of both being Ooyamaneko-jin, something not particularly common. What was first just an interest soon sparked into a passionate romance and then a faithful love. Although they never married, Miguel and Angelique's love was great enough that the two were convinced they never needed to. They lived together in Miguel's home in Portugal where their romance sparked the birth of a beautiful baby girl they named Maia Beleza, choosing to give the girl Angelique's last name instead of Miguel's for a reason that nobody knows.
Miguel considered Maia to be his number-one fan and was a very loving father. Every moment he had off, he made sure to spend with both his wife and his little girl, teaching Maia a love of singing and a love of soccer as well who was showing a considerable talent in both, but this wasn't as often as you think it would be since he was always busy. Once Maia was a little bit older, Miguel started to take his little girl with him on the occasional tour for fun.
However, Miguel's career took a turn for the worse after a few incidents and he found himself shamed. What followed next was a cascading spiral that kept going down. Eventually, this spiral downward would claim him through a case of depression that Miguel could not handle, and he ended his life when Maia turned thirteen.
With the love and passion of her life gone, Angelique's flame slowly flickered over the next few years, but Maia managed to keep the flame burning for a little while longer. The pair of them needed to move far away from Portugal in the hopes that it might help them cope. Angelique sold what she inherited from Miguel and moved to Erehwon, a country of known for its hospitality in comparison towards America and European countries. They say, though, that when a lovebird dies, the one that's left behind just gives up on living so it can join its mate. After a year, Angelique could no longer go on and did join her mate. Left alone now, Maia had by now built up a resolve to stay strong and continue persevering and carried this with her as she was taken in the child care system. Maia was bounced out of one home, but was taken up by the renown Faust Mansion.
Personality: Maia can be a very passionate, fiery, and outspoken girl. She is not afraid to say something that is on her mind and say it bluntly if it needs to be said. This mainly happens when she feels the need to go on the defense. This is all to say that the tiny little lynx manages to hold a huge amount of sass and attitude inside of her. She is also very animated as she talks. Wild, sometimes outlandish gestures will often accompany her speaking habits, which tend to be as fast, fluid, and fiery as her personality is. The lynxess does her best to come off as a strong person and is sometimes a little domineering with it, going too far with it. It is for this reason that she can often be seen as fierce and blunt, and when you anger her back off because the impassioned Maia will go into a great fervor and show her more latina heritage.
However, and many will not know this right away or possibly even ever, that is simply a mask to hide Maia's insecurities. She's not the tough girl she seems to be and is, in fact, much softer than someone would believe. Maia is unsure of herself at almost every angle and instead of standing up to it like she would have someone else believe or even herself believe, she more often than not falters before them with no knowledge at all how to deal with them and with rarely anyone to go to.
In truth, Maia has quite the soft and nice side beneath that flame exterior and only yearns for the ability to show it more. She wants to show this more feminine side, to be pampered and made a princess of, but at the end of the day, is too scared to.
Maia is a bit of a geek as well, and this shows prominently in her "gamer girl" self. She's always got her hands on the latest and great game, and has several scuff markings on her wall as well where after being enraged by a game, she took her controller or something else and threw it at a wall. As a whole though, Maia is very entrenched in geek culture, knowing the ins and outs of various science-fiction, fantasy, and other such pop culture geek references, and is more than happy to incorporate them into all of the sass that the tiny little beast holds.
School: Maia does above-average in school. Nothing really noteworthy.
Interests/Hobbies: Maia is absolutely in love with sports, with soccer at the uppermost front. She is also, unsurprisingly in love with singing and music. The lynx has a very beautiful soprano singing voice and loves everything from pop music to opera. Maia refuses to sing around others, though, and she doesn't want to join Choir either.
Miscellaneous:
~Maia is fluent in Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish, as well as English, all of which her father taught her as he toured around Latin Europe. Her French is mediocre at best and dodgy at worst.
~As expected, Maia, when angered or flustered, will change from English to either Spanish or Portuguese.
Relationships:
~Margaret~ Miss Maggie and Maia have grown close over the months and after coming to see Maggie as a mother-figure, and Maggie seeing Maia as a daughter, the two decided that they would become family by law. The two of them have an interesting dynamic going on, with Maggie being one of the few people who is immune to her attitude, is able to make her stop before she goes too far, and even plays and indulges with the rambunctious little lynx. If these two aren't playfully bantering and bickering with one another, something is off.
~Terry~ Her boyfriend! Who she sees as the perfect Casanova. Everyone else seems to think differently, though, but she loves him all the same and enjoys doing just about anything with him, especially the long bike rides that he takes her on. Terry is even helping her build a motorcycle of her own, which she hopes to drive when she turns sixteen and gets her license.
~Jack~ Her protective older sister ever since the girl had wandered in on Maia crying in her room. Since then, Jack's taken it as her personal goal almost to make sure that nothing bad happens to Maia whatsoever, and she also appears to be mostly immune to her attitude, but Maia's still able to get to her on several occasions.
~Allie~ Maia practically hates Allessandra for all that the neko-jin does to her. A lot of Allie's torment at school is focused on Maia, on her looks, her ethnicity, and her tomboyish ways. There generally isn't a moment where Allie isn't putting Maia down in some way, but despite it all, the two could actually be the best of friends if they weren't on opposite sides of the totem pole, Allie being one of the most popular kids in school and Maia barely an outcast.
