Spanking App for AOTK

Hi. I've been on AOTK for quite some time, but this is my first post.
Hello everyone!

AOTK has traditionally had a bit more than just pictures: animations, video downloads, etc.

Is there any possibility that a Java Applet section could be added to this site?
Unless you've been much more successful than me you'll probably agree
that the spanking game genre is rather barren.

This could also provide opportunity for more collaboration between
various artists and programmers. I'm not sure to what extent people
here program but I would assume we have at least a few (At least me)
that can, and we could probably put together a community project
that's way better than anything else out there.

If this is too difficult, I hope we might still be able to organize something,
even if we can't integrate its presentation into AOTK.

I'd just like to say that I completely endorse this idea, and would love to contribute in such a project.

The artists and members of OldTk made quite a few games.

Not least Mina and CM_Zero to name a few.

The trouble is, game development is a hobby for them and they use non-industry tools, so they games they make arn't flash/java compatable.
What is needed is either for someone to convert their existing .exe style games into browser friendly format or for some developers to release tools that can be used to make games without needed 3 years of college and programming courses.

AI looked many times on OldTk for ways to integrate the spanking games the members made, it just couldn't be done with existing formats.

I'm curious.. what did they use to make the games?

If it's feasible to convert (/re-write) these to java, I would be interested in helping out.

Last night I made a game where your cursor was a hairbrush and you spanked one of erika.halfmoon's characters by clicking on her bottom.
As you spanked it, the picture slowly changed from the "before spanking" to the "after spanking", making it
look like her bottom was slowly reddening. I also added sound effects.

I did it with processing, the 2D java library. I'm not very experienced with web development stuff, but according
to something I found online you should be able to just put the jar file in the appropriate folder along with all of the resources used, and
then just use the approprate HTML.

I'm not familiar with whether that is doable with AOTK as it currently stands, but it sounds pretty straightforward to implement.
I guess I will wait for the web dev to let us know.

From an administration standpoint I don't think there is really is an issue to setup a spot for members to be able to embed .jar files and what not. File extensions only need to be installed to be recognized on the server(in theory anyway). the we can part is fine.

The real issue is that these types of files cause a serious server security risk which is why not many forums even allow complete flash embedded in forums. This is why you do not see many sites that allow open source editing within an online server for these types of files.
So the we should part is the problem.

I see. There are a few places we can go from here. We can stubbornly insist on embedding it, in which case we have a few options:

a) Only allow trusted people to post
b) Have an admin look over the source code
c) Get or make software that unpacks the jar and looks at the source code to find any security holes.

The other option would be to have a section where people could post .exe files for others to download, and work that way. This might be the easier option.

Uhm, some have used RPG maker - which is a generic SNES-era J-RPG program with sprites. Others have made 'em with other game makers which exports as an installing .exe that runs like a proper game with self-contained engine.

This is indeed a fantastic idea, but does anyone here at all have any way to convert, format and then upload the games? I mean is there even a way to kinda, globally ask on the site for anyone that might have the know-how and be willing to contribute?

Agreed, the last option would be my choice for sure. No worries about converting, no security risk to the site, just a quick easy download (depending on ur internet connection speed of course lol) and run the executable. self-contained and all. I'd actually prefer that over java pretty much every time. Plus this way the security issue is solely the users and so long as they have some sort of security on their computer they'd be fine.

EDIT: and the games wouldn't be dependent on the site being up to be played. ie if my internet goes down due to storm or something i can play offline

Ok, here's a few questions.

1. How many game designers actually are around here, or will be around. Is there really enough to dedicate a small part of the forum for this?

2. Are any of the games complete in an .SWF format ever?
