Young Jonas Corvallo sat on the train, a bit impatient. He wasn't looking forward to going to visit his father, but his mother had insisted. He sighed, and pulled out his soda, taking a deep drink, glad for the sugar and caffiene. He looked up, and stuffed the drink and his book back into the bag as the train pulled into the station. He stood and headed onto the platform, looking for his father.

Standing on the platform, Dr. Antonio Corvallo waited for his son. It had been many years since he had seen him, and there had been a certain amount of aging, of course. So, there he stood, a man of middle years and middle height, with flecks of gray in his black hair which almost matched the gray of his eyes. He wore a three-piece suit and carried a battered but still servicable black briefcase; his other hand was in his pocket, absently.
As he saw his only child step down onto the platform, he pulled the hand from his pocket and waved, calling out, "Jonas! Over here son!"

Jonas shifted the bag over his shoulder, and trudged over.
"Hey," he said, a little unenthusiastically. The 12 year old looked up at him.
"How have you been?" he asked, a bit unsure what to say.

His father looked down with a smile of mixed sadness and joy; he then knelt and gave his son a hug, saying, "Better, now that you're here. How was your trip?"

"Mom didn't give me the return information," he said, a bit worried aobut how he would get home.

"Return information? What are you talking about?" His dad asked, running his fingers through his short-cropped hair as he stood and looked back down at his boy in confusion.

"She didn't tell you? You're not going home, Jonas; you're here to stay," the professor said, with some incredulity, "After all, since the lymphoma was diagnosed . . ."
He trailed off, not sure what else to say.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" he exclaimed, dropping his duffel bag.
