DO NOT PANIC!
The animeotk.com you know and love will return shortly. We have experienced some major technical problems and as a result I have been feverishly working for the last 8 hours to restore an at least partially working forum to everyone.
Everybody experiencing problems:
1) Clear Cookies
2) Clear temporary internet files
(for instructions on doing this go go
http://google.com)
3) Restart your PC
4) Wait 30 minutes (run of the mill server glitches usually fix themselves after this time)
The problem has a 99% chance of being your PC rather than the site
Then, and only then if you still experience the problem send an error report to me.
THings that are missing:
Java Chatroom (this should return shortly)
Finishing touches to the skins (again, should be fixed shortly)
THings that are different and can't be changed:
Member ID Number - these have all shifted a little where members have been deleted and an extra member number 1 from theway I imported eveything has been added
PostCounts: people who uploaded and commented in the gallery will have lost their post count... there is currently nothing I can do about this but I plan to try a few things when I have time.
Gallery favourites have been lost and are unrecoverable
all gallery messages were not properly recoverable (note: this is not comments)
Profile visitor messages have been lost and are not recoverable
Other things: these will be found... as and when they crops up
Things that are fixed:
Gallery comments are 99.9% fixed - there may be one or two that are mis-attributed but the vast, vast majority are fine.
Gallery Picture Uploader name is 99.9% fixed - as with the comments there my be a couple of mis-attributed uploads, but the vast, vast majority are fine.
If you have problems logging into the gallery please clear your cookies and try again. (It is recommended everybody delete their cookies and log in again regardless as this will prevent problems)
UPDATE 3:
Numerous small bug and problems that 99% of users would never experience have been fixed. There are still some minor problems with the gallery which I hope to have fixed in a day or two (it's tedious, nitpicking work going through 25,000 database entries by hand)
We now have skins
otk's new skins:
http://animeotk.com/forum/index.php?styleid=1 (current lo-fi)
http://animeotk.com/forum/index.php?styleid=2 (original)
http://animeotk.com/forum/index.php?styleid=3 (light color)
I have decided to keep the "lo-fi" skin as it is suitable for diapup users - it will be branded "AnimeAi Network" and be 100% worksafe - the content on the pages will not be worksafe, but that is your problem. The adverts (if you see them) will still be adult and the spanking pictures, roleplays etc will still be there. However there will not be an image of an anime character getting spanked and "ANIME SPANKING COMMUNITY" sitting on the top of every page.
The original skin will be given a worksafe header option (as well as the original headers, but I might code a new modification to rotate the header once every 10 minutes instead of every page load to help reduce server load - i'll play it by ear)
The new light color skin will have both "Anime OTK" header and worksafe header
Members will be able to select whichever skin they like with the default being our original.
The Downloads area is back and appears to be functioning normally. All members should have their normal permissions to access it again (with download limits for those who should have them) If you have any problems accessing or missing files etc please let me know.

The Gallery should now be set up to receive uploads again - I'm hoping I have fixed all the permissions errors now. There is still some anomalous data in the database but it should not affect normal operations. The latest images section on the front page has also returned so artists should be given the proper exposure.

Still to do:
Fix minor and random bugs
Add IRC chat (for now irc junkies should go to animeai.com and type "/join #animeotk" when they use that site's java chatroom)
Sort out the skins with proper link buttons and headers
Sort out user icons for artists, writers, roleplayers etc
Various other things I can't think of off the top of my head
Fix links in the downloads area so the correct userid is attributed to a download.
Things members need to do:
Clear cookies (this will prevent 90% of reported bugs)
Clear their temporary internet files (this will prevent 9% of the other 10% of reported bugs)
Report any bugs that occur after doing the above
Reupload their avatars, signature images and profile images
Get posting
note: once I am happy things are running fine again the forum will probably move back to /forum/ rather than /forum/ I would do it now but I don't wish to break anything until I have made new backups.
