It is the start of a new school years at the magical academy in the village of Manarina, The headmaster, known to the students as Mata Nui, stood on his balcony, while the teachers, known as the Turaga Council, stood below. 14 teachers, divided in pairs, and each pair dressed in specific colors: red, blue, green, black, brown, white, and gold

In front of the group, this years first-year student and new arrivals. Among them, an 11 year old Fire Elf names Tao. She looked among the teachers, half wondering which "Clan" she would get sorted into. Being a magical being from an Elf clan that specializes in Fire magic, she believed she might end up in Tahu Clan. She looked around, soon spotting the 7 castle towers that serve as the dorms for each of the school Clans, each named after the original founders of the school form many centuries ago: Tahu, Gali, Lewa, Onua, Pohatu,Kopaka, and Takenuva

Corson tapped one of his hooves impatiently against the floor as he waited to be judged. The thirteen-year old cambion (or half-demon, as some called him) was tall for his age, and his body was sleek and muscular. His most defining feature were his cloven hooves, his large ram-like horns which curved forward from his skull, and his subtly glowing eyes. Given the quite frankly justified fear and prejudice towards demons, Corson wondered whether he would even be admitted into the school due to his fiendish heritage. Surprisingly, the administration saw past that and ended up letting him enroll.

Still, the cambion was not one of the nicer students that you could meet. He had an outsized ego, a short temper, and a cruel streak a mile wide. As he looked around the room, he made eye contact with a young fire elf.

Once all the new students were in the welcome hall, the Headmaster cleared his throat to get their attention

"Welcome one and all to Manarina Academy. The best magic school on Rune. You shall address me as Mata Nui unless I inform you otherwise. The Turaga Council you see before you will now begin the sorting procedure. Turaga Tahura shall explain the process"

Of the teachers in front of the group, a woman dressed in red robes steeped forward.

"All of oyu will form a line" she said "When you come forward, you will state your name and your best magical talent. The Turaga will then determine which Clan you will be sorted into. Each Clan specializes on a specific elemental power, wand most of the time, whichever element you show, will determine which Clan you go to. But that isn't' he only thing that determines it. We also take your personality in to account

Once you are sorted, the Turaga will give you your uniform which is specific to the Clan you become part of. You will then proceed into the Grand Hall, where the older students are waiting to greet you"

When it came his time to be judged, Corson stepped forward.

"I am Corson, mighty spawn of Infernus. The fires of that realm burn within my veins, and I can use fire magic to increase my physical prowess."

To demonstrate his point, Corson held up a fist. A flaming aura appeared around it as his eyes glowed with fiery light. He then lowered it and his eyes returned to normal.

The Turaga then began sorting the students, giving then their robes and motioning for them to head into the Grand Hall

They were a bit stunned when Corson stepped forward and actually demonstrated his power. But they continued the process regardless, ending with Tahura handing him the red robes of Tahu Clan

"You are of Tahu Clan. A powerful Fire Magic user, with a strong will and determination" she siad

Corson relished the fact that all the other students were so impressed or frightened by them. He smirked, accepted his robes, and stepped back in line.

After a few more students, it was the Elf girl's turn

"I am Tao Hikora" she said "I am a Fire Elf from Guardiana I have very few friends, but am very protective of those I have"

Once more the Turaga tested the girl, and Tahura soon handed her a robe

"You are of Tahu Clan" she said "I have never seen a soul so pure and honorable"

Tao smiled as she took the robe and proceeded into the Grand Hall. As she entered, she was met by a huge room, with 7 lines of students, all dressed in the appropriate robe of their Clan. There was also a long table that went the length of the room next to each Clan. And at the head of each table at the far end, stood a person who was not of the teaching staff. But they were just as important

Tao moved to the table lined with others dressed in red and proceeded to sit, while the Turaga continued the sorting of the remaining students

Corson sat down next to Tao. He leaned over to her and spoke quietly.

"Hey. It seems like the teachers seem to think rather highly of you, but it sounds to me like all you did was say a few words."

The cambion seemed somewhat annoyed.

"Is there some story I haven't heard before?" Corson said snidely.

[Chrysm]

Tao glanced over at the boy that sat next to her. She looked him over, half wondering what he was

"Fire Elves are a somewhat prideful race" she said "They have been in every major war in history, fighting honorably and for the betterment of all"

Corson chuckled. "And now you intend to follow in the footsteps of your glorious ancestors. That's adorable."
